Chapter 46: CH:46 Bad Vibrations
After I was done roasting April's tessen warfan to a nice bright yellow, she took off with it to show the guys yelling thanks over her shoulder as she runs out of my room. I just shake my head at her enthusiasm as I slowly follow behind, lost in my thoughts.
'I really need to figure out which of the two brothers I prefer... Leon is gentle and caring, but can be so cold sometimes. Where Raphael is so intense and warm, but gets worked up really easily. Both seem to care deeply for me, but I think I need to find out which one likes me more... And of course, which one I like more...' I start pondering to myself but just as I make it into the living room with Leo, Raph, Mikey, and Master Splinter ogling over April's new weapon, the ground starts to shake for a moment and some dust falls from the ceiling.
Donny walks into the room from his lab, looking at a gizmo strapped to his wrist, "I'm picking up bad vibrations."
Making Raph scoff, "No shit, Sherlock!"
I tilt my head to the side and ask, "Is there such thing as good vibrations?"
"If you ask the Beach Boys, there is." Mikey replies, barely able to hold back his giggles.
Donny chuckles a little bit before he adds, "Hey, he's giving some good citations."
Making both of the turtles burst out laughing. Leaving me even more confused as Raph gives Mikey a smack upside the back of his head once again, and Sensei just shakes his head at their antics.
Slightly annoyed, Leo crosses his arms and clears his throat, "You were saying, Don?"
Donny immediately stops laughing and nervously scratches the back of his head as he begins to explain, "Well ever since that last earthquake, I have set up some sensors around the city the last few times we went up to the surface."
He then activates his hallow touch screen with his wrist gadget, projected from a small device he made in my lab, that's attached to his shell over his right shoulder. It shows his sensors and the last few seismic activity, "That shake we just felt was another earthquake. This one had the magnitude of six on the Richter scale, that is stronger than any earthquake in New York's recorded history! Probably would have cut out our lights too, if Ying and I didn't hooked up the sword of Tangu to be our own power source. Yet, the fact that we're getting so many earthquakes here on the East Coast isn't the weirdest part about this... It's that these earthquakes aren't even near the Ramapo Fault line." He finishes as he turns off his screen with a quick swish of his hand.
Leo thinks for a moment on all the information that Donny just gave us as he holds his chin before he replies with a very serious look on his face, "Then these earthquakes are most likely man-made. I think we need to get down to the bottom of this."
"All right! Surface action!" Mikey cheers as he fist pumps the air.
April starts to get insanely excited, "Excellent! I'm dying to test out my new weapon!" Making the entire room go silent as we all share quick glances.
Leo nervously clears his throat before he suggests, "Maybe you should hang back. This mission is going to require lots of speed and stealth."
April deflates where she's standing and starts stuttering, "B-but... I th-thought...."
Master Splinter simply places his hand on her shoulder for reassurance as a smile graces his lips, "It's all right, young one. It's best that you learn how to use that weapon before you jump straight into combat. Come, we shall go over the warfan fighting styles in the dojo." With that he turned and walked away with an eager April close on his heels.
After I threw on my ninja outfit and grabbed some gear we headed out. We decided to take the Battle Shell since it's scanning equipment is far more advanced than Donny's field gear. It took us a couple hours to find a destination. We needed to gather all of Donny's sensors to compare the data so we can narrow down the signal. Looks like It's coming from another abandoned warehouse but this one is down in Manhattan.
Once we got to the roof we quickly ran over to the skylight, so we can peak into the building to see what's going on. While we're trying to figure out what's happening, Mikey couldn't help but ask, "Why do bad guys always have their hideouts in a warehouse? Do you think they get a discount?"
In unison all the other three Turtles yell in hushed voices, "Shut up, Mikey!"
I roll my eyes and look into the warehouse and I see a bunch of guys in suits, "Well, that looks familiar..." Half were working on a huge machine. It has a big drill and a giant vessel full of glowing green ooze. The rest of the guys were walking around with Kraang-tech rifles.
"There must be close to 50 dudes down there, and that's just what we can see!" Mikey nervously points out.
I hear a low chuckle from Raph before he starts cracking his knuckles, "Good! I'm in the mood to knock some clocks!"
Leo sighs, "Gear down, big rig. We need a plan. Don, any idea what they are doing?"
Donny pulls his headset down over his eyes and the high-tech binoculars activated, "Well, definitely nothing good. With that equipment, looks like the Kraang are planning to drill into the planet. And by the look of how much ooze they have, I would guess that they plan to inject it into the core."
Raph gives a small nervous chuckle, "Heh, how about we don't let that happen.."
I focuse on the energy in the building to see if I could pick up anymore of their weird alien signature. Immediately I notice a few clusters in a couple different rooms, "That's not all, we can only see about a third of them. And for the icing on the cake, that drill thing is hooked up to an insane power source just behind that wall." I finish as I point in the direction of the blinding light of energy that I noticed.
"Awww maaaan, turtle luck strikes again." Mikey curses as Leo holds his chin in deep thought once more.
"No, this is great! Thanks to Ying, I now have a plan." Donny says with a bit of a sadistic grin stretching across his face.
