Chapter 2: Chapter 2

When Tara arrived at her new, temporary home, they did her intake which was simply them asking her a bunch of questions, they body checked her for self harm and noted that she had many cuts and scars on her stomach and thighs, and changed her into scrubs to wear until her clothes had been checked and washed. Until then she was sent into the day room, where to her surprise she was bombarded with introductions and greetings. She didn't expect people to be so nice and she almost smiled as she sat down in a chair in the back of the room, next to a girl who looked to be about her age. She was reading a book and barely said hi when Tara sat down. Tara started to think about how pretty she was when she remembered everything that had just happened to her. Thinking about it all made her start to cry so she got up and silently went to the corner, burying her face in her hands and pulling her knees to her chest. Some people noticed and tried to console her but stopped when she wouldn't move or respond, until the pretty girl walked over and put a hand on Tara's shoulder, telling her it would be ok and that it was ok to cry until Tara's crying eased. The girl introduced herself as Molly and sat down next to Tara, pulling out a pack of Oreos from the earlier snacktime and offering them to Tara. Tara accepted them and smiled softly as she shared them with Molly. The two of them began to talk and relized they were both 17, and had some other things in common. Tara almost forgot where she was because of how comforting Molly was being. She figured she must've been there for a while or been hospitalized before to know how to deal with a new person so well. Tara and her talked until dinner time. Tara hadn't been there for 24 hours so she couldn't go to the cafeteria, but Molly promised that they would sit together when she could. When everyone left, she smiled and sat back down at the table with the notebook they had given her and started writing, planning to keep a diary of sorts, and began to write. "Journal, today is my first day in the hospital and it's actually been going ok. It didn't start out well because I got scared and sad so I cried, but then a really nice girl named Molly came and comforted me. She's gorgeous, but now because of Sienna, I'm scared to like anyone. But other than her the people here seem nice. I'm not allowed to leave the unit because it's still my first 24 hours, but at least I have something to do. Anyways, I'm still feeling pretty down because of the incident. It really hurt. I can't believe she did that, how could she? I told her what I had never told anyone and she told everyone. But I'm not going to talk about this anymore because I'm getting angry, Tara out." She smiled at the small entry she had written and wrote the date on it, then sat down and daydreamed until the group got back and she got her dinner. It was bowtie pasta with pesto, gaslic bread, and a cookie. She was hungry, and ate it quickly, then threw away the container, washed her hands, and grabbed a deck of cards from the back to play with. She asked Molly if she wanted to play speed if she did, and they played until it was time for hygiene and bed. Everyone had roommates and Tara's was Molly, when she found out she smiled and they brought the deck of cards to their room, and stayed up until nearly midnight playing card games. To Tara's surprise, she started wondering if maybe not every relationship would be like hers and Sienna's.
