Chapter 7: Alpha Shiloh

Under a weeping willow tree, Nevada could see the tall silhouette of an unfamiliar man.

He did not understand why, but at least he knew that before, he had felt an inexplicable threat.

However, once his gaze fell onto those glowing golden eyes, he instantly relaxed.

He opened his mouth to speak, but all he heard was a low growl, then a huff. He forgot that he was in his wolf form.

"Out for a run?" asked the man as he took a step forward.

Nevada did not need anyone to tell him who this stranger was. He thought he heard someone sigh until the system showed him a window on his screen.

[The host met the male lead earlier than expected. Since this is the male lead, the data needed to be uploaded is bigger. Thus, it may take longer. The male lead must be inside the host's parameters throughout the whole process.]

Listening to the system, he sat and behaved on the ground as he nodded his head to answer the man.

He has to find a way to delay the male lead and make him linger here until the turtle system finishes uploading.

There is no better way than acting obedient and cute to get a pat or a rub on the neck.

The man slowly took more steps towards him while Nevada stayed put and watched him.

When the man was about ten steps away, a faint box outline lit up all of a sudden with Nevada at the center.

He figured this must be what the system referred to as his parameters. It lit up as a signal but also disappeared right away.

Okay, the target was in his parameters. Now, he only needs to make physical contact to get his energy.

Observing the well-behaved wolf, Shiloh was even more amused.

The awakening of an omega spread like wildfire last night.

This scrawny little wolf should be the one they were talking about, yet he wasn't in bed to rest till his heat passed?

He studied the quiet white wolf, and his milky skin flashed in his mind again. He inhaled the air around, but he couldn't get any whiff of an omega scent anywhere.

This wolf was not even on guard upon facing an alpha. Was the news false?

"Shouldn't you be obediently lying in bed?" Shiloh probed.

The quiet wolf wagged its tail once from left to right but did not answer.

Shiloh tilted his head, crouching in front of the defenseless omega. He slowly raised a hand, cautious to not scare the little puppy away.

Shiloh found that not only did it not try to avoid him, it even seemed to wait for him to pet it as its tail moved again.

Shiloh squinted his eyes, suspicious, "Are you acting cute?"

The wolf moved its head and huffed like it was offended but ultimately still stayed put.

Its big, innocent eyes never looked away.

"Indeed." Shiloh nodded his head a few times in understanding. "Omegas would even seduce strangers when in heat."

This time, the wolf snapped its head to dodge his hand that was about to land on its head. It stood up and bounced as it walked away.

Shiloh also straightened up and watched it skip past the trees.

[Upload interrupted.]

[The 18% progress will be deleted in 60 seconds unless the character is back inside the host's parameters.]

Nevada complained to the system, "What are you doing? It was a minute of interaction and you were only able to get 18% done?"

[Unknown data.]

[Upload failed.]

[Deleting progress…]

[Reminder: Please remember to let the target remain inside the host's parameters until the data is finished uploading. To recognize the owner of the data, please do not forget to get their energy.]

After the automated lines, the aggrieved system replied to Nevada: [Other systems can't even get a progress of 18% in just a minute. This is good enough.]

Not just good enough! It was the best, okay!

Nevada heard the grievance in its voice.

He realized he was quick to take his anger out on the system because of the male lead's hateful comment.

He said a bit guiltily, "Forget it. There will be opportunities to do it later."

Since he wasn't in the mood anymore, Nevada wanted to shift back into a human but realized a problem that made him stop in his tracks.

From a distance, Shiloh followed the wolf while holding onto a pile of neatly folded clothes.

Either it forgot about its things or deliberately left them so he could follow to return them.

What a brilliant plan to seduce him.

But thinking of its arrogant figure as it left without looking back, the latter did not seem to be possible.

Sure enough, the wolf suddenly stopped skipping. It hesitated as its ears perked up and down.

When it was about to turn around, Shiloh spoke, "You forgot these."

Nevada looked back, huffed louder than before, then sprinted towards Shiloh.

He bit the clothes in Shiloh's hands to take them back, but the man did not let go. The wolf grinned and bared its fangs.

However, no matter how much strength Nevada put into getting his clothes, or how much he growled and threatened the male lead, Shiloh only raised an eyebrow at him. As if enjoying his struggle.

He was being teased!

Riiiiiiip!

The little wolf paused.

Its honey brown eyes that were tinged with rage and difficulty suddenly contracted in surprise.

Nevada hurriedly let go of his bite and peeked at the torn up shirts and pants.

Fuck!

"Oh, no," Shiloh said emotionlessly. "It's because you were being too fierce."

The culprit was even shifting the blame to him!

Nevada begrudgingly shot daggers at the loathsome man in front of him.

After having enough of beating him up in his mind, he ran back to the house with all his might.

He never looked back and just stomped heavily each time his paws landed to the ground.

He was so pissed!

"Ah." Shiloh was a little taken aback with the breeze that the omega left. It wasn't that he could not smell his pheromones.

It was because he was so used to this smell that he did not notice it.

His scent seemed to smell like the mountains and forests.

Could it be that he has always been secreting these pheromones, but nobody noticed because of its unique scent?

Nevada could not enter the house immediately upon seeing how dirty he had gotten from stomping.

There was mud all the way up to his belly.

Panting, he went to the fountain in their garden which he recalled with the original's memories.

That Nevada used to clean up there before, too.

"Nevada, why did you go out? You should be resting!" Nevada was startled upon hearing Miranda's yelling.

Lucas and Theo had more things to clarify about in private, so Miranda went to check on her son.

She found that he was not in his room nor anywhere in the house.

Worried, she was just about to search outside when through the window, she saw Nevada in his wolf form cleaning himself in the fountain in their garden.

Miranda jogged and arrived at his side. She saw dirt flow from his legs down to the water.

She immediately knew where he went, but she was still concerned about his safety.

Kneeling one knee to the edge of the fountain, she reached out to help her son wash.

She smelled his pheromones again, making her instantly look around to see if anyone else was present.

"I understand that you must be feeling suffocated inside, but you should endure till your heat passes." She sighed.

Fortunately, nobody seemed to be nearby. What if her son was beat up again, or even worse…

Miranda shook her head and did not dare to think further.

"Listen to your mother."

The fur on Nevada's tail stood on its end. In shock, he splashed water everywhere as he turned to face the man who talked.

Lowering his head, Nevada growled quietly but fiercely. His whole figure showed extreme irritation and cautiousness.

Behind him, Miranda also stood up in surprise, but only because she got wet. She held onto Nevada's back and caressed him to calm him down.

She almost touched his nape but was able to stop in time. That would make him uncomfortable.

Why was her little cub acting so guarded towards Shiloh?

"Alpha Shiloh, it must be due to his heat. Nevada is usually very polite," Miranda hurriedly said, afraid that Nevada's reaction might offend him.

Although she was a little taken aback to see him already here, she was not that surprised. Lucas had already informed her and Theo of Shiloh's sudden visit.

She continued brushing Nevada's fur with her hands and kept he comforting him.

"Dear, calm down. I'm here, I'm here."

Miranda initially thought that her son did not want to be near any alpha right now.

However, this assumption disappeared after seeing Shiloh walk to them, holding onto something familiar.

"Aunt Miranda, I always tell you it's still fine even if you continue calling me Shiloh," Shiloh said, halting in front of them when he was only a few steps away.

Miranda's mind blanked.

It couldn't be that…?

But her son was too young! Has her godson always been such a beast?

This time, both the mother and son were guarded, making the sides of Shiloh's mouth subtly curve up.

"Aunt, I teased your son too much. I wanted to prank him by hiding his clothes, but he had caught me and wanted to take them back. I held onto the clothes too tightly, so they tore when he forcefully tried to get them," he explained.

"He got angry and ran. I was not able to apologize."

Miranda was unconsciously relieved.

However, she was still a bit concerned and did not take the matter as lightly as Shiloh had made it sound.

"You people are not so young anymore. You will also need to work together in the future. Don't be too playful and immature."

She turned to Nevada, "You, especially. You were specifically told to rest but ran around instead."

Nevada frowned, but because he was a wolf, the crease on his furry forehead did not look very visible. Instead, he scrunched his nose.

How did he suddenly become the one in need of scolding when it was this person in front of him who was being immature?

Miranda could still smell her son's scent. She awkwardly glanced at the alpha in front of them.

Yet Shiloh did not seem the least bit aware.

"Your name's Nevada, right?" Shiloh raised his hand and showed him the torn clothes.

"You may not remember me. My name is Shiloh. We met when you were still very young."

"Ah, yes," Miranda replied for Nevada. She looked at her son who already calmed down a little but was still unwilling to acknowledge Shiloh.

"Alpha, this is my infamous son, Nevada. Neavada, this is Alpha Shiloh of the White Moon Pack..."

Miranda bit her lips. She will wait for her husband before dropping the news to Nevada. She began to feel anxious again.

With Nevada like this now, will he resent them for their decision?

Nevada was indifferent.

He felt clean enough, so he jumped out of the fountain. He was about to walk away when he thought of doing something.

He looked at the smirk on Shiloh's face.

Nevada felt pissed again, so he proceeded to shake off the water from his body and deliberately made sure that most of the droplets would go in Shiloh's direction.

Feeling the sudden offensive attack of the omega, Shiloh closed his eyes to prevent the water from entering his eyes. But he did not move to avoid it from hitting his face.

Contented, Nevada raised his chin smugly and started making his way to the house.

He heard a low chuckle from behind him after only a couple steps but he ignored it.

"I apologize for ruining your clothes. I will properly make it up to you and buy you new ones," Shiloh said, his voice carrying a hint of a smile.
