Chapter 24: Chapter 24: Decision and Tier 2.
It is Wednesday, he needs to wait until tomorrow to check out the new features, items, and so on in tier 2.
Although excited, he had trouble making a decision. So he takes a day off from the clinic. The sign on the clinic says "Closed until further notice".
His action causes some reaction from his close friend, and acquaintances. Lana and Nina are glad that Kai is resting. They have been worried that Kai is gonna work himself to death.
"It's a good thing for you. Go out and enjoy life more. Try to find a girl for yourself." Nina nagged at him again.
Domingo calls up Kai to the bar he frequents, for a drink,but he declines. Skye is still at school so she doesn't react much. She does check if Kai is sick before going to school as he never takes an impromptu leave.
In Shield, the monitoring team is confused by the sudden action."Didn't he never take a break? Why now?"
They are in a chaos trying to read back Kai's previous record to see if there's a reason for it. And they did find something.
"It's gonna be the anniversary of his family's death tomorrow," said an agent to Barbara, who is healing nicely and always interferes with Kai's monitoring even though it's not her responsibility.
Barbara became solemn. " It must be a personal day. Should we really monitors him like this? "
Even Kai doesn't know that his action coincides with the details that he used to create 'Kai Vera'.
"If this is my last day, what should I do?" a question he couldn't answer even in his previous life. He spent the day normally, watching TV, going to the mall, visiting the hangover Domingo, and waiting for Skye to come home.

Skye shared about her school life while he listened attentively. Kai looks back to when he started doing doctor jobs here in hell's kitchen.
Before he started, he always feels like this is not his world, he feels detached from it. Even when he got to know Gwen, he didn't take the initiative to ask her out, nor did he know what he's feeling.
He accepted the quest just for the sake of the quest. He didn't think much about it.

By making him come out with his own invention, Ryan potential shoots up. Ideas pour out from his head, and he learns more about himself.
The Doctor, RetiredMechanic, Mythic, are worried about him, and are looking out for him in their own way. He always talks about his world like a story he read, instead of the life he lives.
That's why they want him to form attachment to it, to his world. At least he'll not fall into depravity.
"There's beauty in life's struggle." And like the doctor thought, Ryan did open up to the world. He even got a girlfriend.
If he didn't take the quest, never would he have done the prosthetic that may bring attention and trouble to him. As a doctor, he sees many people from different walks of life, and disabled people are one of them.
"Don't you ever have this feeling? You want something to change, life to get better, struggle to become easier. But it won't work until you decide to start the change."
He feared to stand out in this world, as the Marvel Universe is really dangerous. But it's the same for other people, not only him. If he just hid the entire time, would that really be living?
Kai listened attentively, and when she finished, he said, "Hey Skye…"
"What?"
"I'm glad to meet you".
Skye looks at Kai weirdly. "Are you drunk?"
He laughs out loud when she reacts like that. He didn't hesitate anymore. He'll stay, at the very least until Skye grows up and be able to take care of herself.
"Tomorrow I have a day off, let's go out to have some fun"
"You have a day off but I have school tomorrow" Skye said with her eyes rolling. She thought he was teasing her again.
Under no circumstances can she want only to take days off from school. That's Kai's rule for her. She can't even fake sickness as her guardian is a doctor.
"I'll permit you for a day off tomorrow, let's go out". Kai does want to go have fun. He's been working hard to finish the quest. He needed to blow off some steam.
"Really, wait no, I'll go, no take backs!!!" Skye said excitedly. She'll do anything for a chance to skip school. Kai looks at Skye with a fathers smile.
"If it's my last day, I want to spend the rest of the time I have with the people I love", Kai/Ryan finally gets his answer.
He sleeps early tonight, at 10 pm ,compared to when he works at 4-5 am. But his biological clock was in disarray, so he woke up at 3.00 am. He went to drink a glass of milk, and because he couldn't fall asleep, he decided to stay up reading.
"I think that I project myself more with Kai than with Ryan Knight." He realises it now, his friend's intention in giving him the quest.
The unreal feeling of transmigration has finally been shook off. Now he's truly a part of the world, not just someone who finds themselves suddenly in it.
After Skye wakes up, Kai drives them to an amusement park. "This is my resting day. I'm going to play all day! "
The time comes for trading sessions, Ryan is excited to see the upgrades!
