Chapter 7: The visitor

Al lifted her head from her knees, her body aching from the position she was in. Her eyes made their way to the empty seat in front of her, Marco was not where she left him. She turned her head towards the door, she noticed it was cracked about an inch or two. Her chest started moving faster, her heart beating harder. She thought to her self it was okay, that it was just a dream.

She tapped her shoulder, "FUCK! Yup I'm awake.. so where is he?" She said aloud.

Trying to focus on the door, Al moves slowly towards it in hopes nothing pops out at her. With her hand on the handle, Al closed her eyes and took two good breaths before opening her eyes again. She inched the door little by little until it was completely open. Her whole body moved forward into the hallway without hesitation, her head turned right to find no one there. When she turned it left, she screamed, grabbing her chest.

"What? You've never seen coffee before?" March asked while chuckling.

She snatched the coffee out of his hand. Marco tried to stop her, but it was too late. The moment his coffee touched the inside of Al's mouth, she split it all over the train's window.

Marco started laughing as he went to switch the coffee, she was scrubbing the taste from her tongue with her fingers.

"Always ask before you take." He whispered in her ear.

He walked past her into the room and sat down.

Al gave an "ugh" out loud and followed behind him.

They both took a few sips of the coffees, this time Al enjoying the half sugar, quarter French vanilla, and quarter coffee in her cup while Marco sipped on his black liquid with three sugars and three creams.

"I think you should teach me how you fight, the fact that you haven't, knowing damn well what was going to happen was stupid of you." Al gave him a look to complete the sentence.

He didn't say anything at first, he just stared at her.

He began to rub the back of his neck," I suppose you're right, we get started tomorrow. We don't have much time left before we reach Cape La Lou."

Al smiled, she didn't realize it was going to be that easy to get him to agree. She was kind of mad at the same time because she had a huge speech ready about how she wouldn't be a weakling, but at that point she didn't care, she got what she was wanting. The both of them finished their coffees, Marco got up and threw both cups away in the trash can by the sliding door.

He sat next to Al, "How about we get some rest and I teach you how to avoid a knife or dagger the next time you come across one in the morning?"

Before Al could say anything, Marco wrapped his arms around her and laid backwards where she was laying on top of him. She didn't move, she knew better to escape the warmth of his skin. He kissed her forehead and let his head lay back into place. Without any word, they both fell asleep.

Al's surroundings went from pitch black to a room where the only lighting was a fireplace. She could see a long table, but the other end of the table was blurry. She could see a chair, but barely with someone in it. On the table was a plate that was in front of her, on the plate was a napkin neatly folded with a completed collection of a fork, knife, and spoon. Her chest was racing, but she didn't make any expression. She had been here before, in her other dreams. Though in the other ones the man never got up or said a word to her, but this time, the man stands up and slowly makes his way over to her side of the table. As he walked over to her, he lightly rubbed his hand down the top of the table at the edge all the way down to her. His hood from his black cloak made it hard to make out who it was at first, but when he got closer to her the fire slowly reveal his face. His skin was pale, his hairline brown though she couldn't see more pass the hood. His features looked like a celebrity, yet his actions still gave him the creep vibe when looking at him.

She never took her eyes from his, they were black to the eyelids, with a little bit of white in the middle. She had never seen eyes like this other than her dreams, always hunting her.

With a grin he softly spoke," I'm sure by now you have found out my name, it was in the letter after all"

Al's expression came off a little confused as she reread the letter back in her head. She realized he was right, Marco did say his name, but she was too distracted, though she wasn't going to admit that to the man in front of her.

He walks around her chair while softly touching the edge of the chair, once on the other side, he continues.

"Do you really believe him though?"

Her eyes met with his, "of course I do." Her stare didn't break the contact with him as she stood up.

"What makes you think he told you the right story? He does follow me after all, doing all my bidding."

He begins to walk towards his side of the table, but this time on the opposite side he came down. He stops in the middle of the table, looking at the center piece. Dead flowers in a navy blue vase and dried petals laid around the base of the vase.

He places his hands behind his back, without looking at her he telling her, "He was right, she did come to me and gave me power beyond this world. But I didn't kill her, she killed herself."

Al gave him a strange look, "what is that suppose to mean?"

He finally met her stare.

"I mean" he paused his sentence as he began to walk towards her. He stops next to her, pulling his hood off. His hair was brown just like she though, the light of the fire was showing his slim yet handsome features of his face, but she wasn't being fooled by it. She still found him evil to the core, just by looking at him, she could feel bad aura flowing off his body.

He knelled down next to her, "I mean she was in love with someone else, but to be free, she had to kill herself. I just happened to take the opportunity of the power she obtained within her blood to rule this city and to keep my youth."

Al's chest began to hurt, she wasn't sure if she should believe him.

"Why should I trust you? You've haunted me all these years."

"Because if you remember, he told you it was rumored. Therefore he didn't know what the truth was."

Her heart ached a little, she did remember Marco saying that.

"But you know what I know? He does know the truth. He was there all those years ago." He said as a grin light up across his face.

Her eyes widen up. She kept telling her self until she said it out loud, "that can't be, that can't be. You're just saying that to get in my head."

Incubus lifted his arm and began to touch Al's face with his hand from her forehead down to her cheek. Her body frozen by the touch. Fear surrounded her to her core causing her to hold her breath.

"Oh. But it is true, who do you think Emily betrayed me for? He wanted power more than I did. He wanted to take my city from me."

Suddenly everything went black and her eyes opened to find herself back in the train, in the seat across from Marco. She was covered in sweat, her breathing was heavy. Marco was still asleep, not noticing her panic episode. She tried to look out the window to gather her self before he could wake.
