Chapter 29: T W E N T Y - N I N E
GABRIEL
My phone had buzzed a couple times before I had fallen asleep next to Kai. I had ignored it then, but now it was buzzing off the hook, leading me to an irritation so deep I didn't want to look at it. I wanted to just snap it in half and throw it away. I was torn between moving to grab it, or laying still to let Kai sleep, her body had been through a lot in the last week. Reia fully coming back, all of her training that she did daily, the Haze that I only endured a fraction of, our run. New Queens are almost their strongest when they first evolve, for Kai, she would indeed be extremely strong right now, but when marked, and fully evolved into a Moon Queen, she would be even stronger.
My phone was ringing now, no longer just text messages coming through. I sighed and moved myself away from her, trying to be as quiet and gentle as I could but she woke up.
"Hey," she gave me a sleepy smile, her voice almost a whisper. I placed a hand on her cheek, forgetting the phone call coming through.
"Good morning, love," I gave her a kiss, "sorry I woke you." I got rolled over and grabbed my phone, Zak, Bree, Harlow, Zena all had been trying to get ahold of me. I rolled my eyes and reluctantly got out of bed, the air was cold from the window being cracked open. I dialed Zak, it hardly even rang before he picked up.
"What is so important now," I snarled through the connection. Zak was like a brother to me, but he was really pushing it today.
"I'm sorry, my King," there was a pause, "it seems that some folks knew you were on a run last night, and they want to know with who, and accusing you of being a liar for keeping a secret from the pack. Some are questioning your authority and will not listen to me."
My eyes narrowed, "get me names."
"Yes, sir," he inhaled, "there's one more thing..."
"Go on with it then," he was testing my patience, "the other packs have received some invites, to a certain ball.."
I felt my brow furrow, "do you have proof of these invites?"
"Yes, I will have them on your desk."
I hung up the line, and turned slowly to Kai, "get up Princess, we've got business to attend too."
She was laying on her stomach, but raised her head and looked at me, "hmm?"
She really fell asleep while I was on the phone. I smiled at her and walked over to the bed. I reached my arms under the blankets she had wrapped herself in and found her legs. I yanked her over to me and flipped her to her back. Kai wrapped her legs around me and seductively started pulling the sweatshirt up. I gazed down at her, her blue eyes wandered over my face. Her sweatshirt was just about to her chest and I placed a hand on her waist. I wanted to stay here, to let her have her way with me, whatever she wanted, she could have it. She reached for my hand and started moving it up her side. I growled, and she just smiled at me.
I gave in and put my other hand next to her head, leaning over the side of the bed, she never moved her eyes away from mine. Instead she pulled my hand from her ribs and kissed my palm. Kai trailed kisses up my forearm until she was sitting up just enough to kiss my neck. I moved my head to the side, allowing her to have her moment of peace before the madness ahead of us. Now she pushed me back to the edge of the bed, kneeling in front of me. She rested one hand on my chest, the other wrapped around my neck. Our lips met and my arms wrapped around her back in instinct.
She reached for my sweatshirt, pulling it up and only breaking away from me to remove it, "are you sure we can't just, stay in here all day?" She kissed me again, "we have a whole bed, and an amazing shower.." Kai planted another kiss on my lips, "there's also the bathroom counter.. the chair over in the corner.." I let out a husky growl and she smiled.
"As tempting as all of that sounds, and as stunning as you are, love," I wrapped my fingers around her jaw bone and ear, my thumb tracing her lips, "your admirer has ruined that for us and now pack members are questioning my authority as King. Calling me a liar."
She scrunched her nose, "I'll beat them all up." Her hand found the waist line of the sweat pants I was wearing and she ran her finger tips across the band, teasing me.
"No, love," I grabbed her hand and helped her off the bed, "we must get ready, so I can show you off to everyone." I hated how easily she could persuade me to stay with her, to want to forget about all my other duties. We walked to the bathroom and I started the water, "I forgot your bags downstairs, I'll be right back." She let the thong she was wearing fall to the ground, and then the sweatshirt too, teasing me with her eyes through the mirror. I smacked her ass and she giggled, then walked into the water. Seemingly content with the action.
I was walking down the steps when the front door opened, it was Zena, what the hell was she doing here now.
"Oh, Gabriel, my," she waved her hand in front of her face like a fan cooling her down, "if I would have known we were on this level I would have dressed more appropriately." She licked her top lip, attempting the same level of seduction that came naturally to Kai.
"What do you want, Zena?" I grabbed Kai's bags, trying to kick Zena out without having to actually kick her out.
"Who's the girl," she raised her eye brow, eerily she had the same blonde hair as Kai and was nearly as tall.
"That isn't currently your business, now leave." I turned to walk back up the stairs.
"I can hear the distrust in your voice, so let me tell you this," I slowly turned to look at her, "if she, is one of the moon, you will lose her to The Prophecy."
"We'll see, now get out." I snarled at her, "and take your stupid riddles with you." I walked up the stairs, listening to the door shut. I wasn't going to let her words bother me, what did she know. Though she was from the same unknown place Pryor and Paisley were, I would need to note what she had said just incase something came up.
The smell of Kai's shampoo wafted into my nose and it was relieving, I set her bags down and walked into the bathroom. The shower didn't have a wall, or door, it was just an open space. Kai's body was facing towards me, she was rinsing her hair, her head leaning back, eyes shut.
"Welcome back," she cooed at me, she was not uncomfortable around me, and it made me glad. She finished rinsing and opened her eyes, her hands falling to her sides. My wolf was ecstatic, adored her, her strength, her confidence. I dropped my pants and walked into the water, pushing her back under it. Kai pressed her body against my own and gave me a kiss.
She turned around and turned on more water rather than just the head from the center of the ceiling. She let the water spray from the wall against her chest and now I soaked my head. I shampooed my hair and rinsed it, Kai's hands found their way to my shoulders and I could smell my body wash. She rubbed my shoulders hard, and down my back.
"Gabriel, you're so tense..." She moved me to the wall so the water was spraying my stomach and I braced myself with my arms. She put all of her weight into rubbing the knots out of my neck and shoulders. Her hands ran up and down to the small of my back and she her thumbs made outward circles, away from my spine. I dropped my head, relaxing. She focused on my traps, her thumbs digging in to get the deep tissue.
I let out a moan, "where have you been, all my life," I heard her giggle. She grabbed a handheld shower head from the wall and blasted my back with the hot water, helping the muscles relax some more.
"You know.." I could hear the flirty tone dripping from her tongue without even looking at her, "I know another way, that might help you relax.." She kissed my back before turning me around to rinse off my chest and stomach. I inhaled deep, I knew exactly what she meant.
"How about," I grabbed the shower head from her and sprayed it over her shoulders, down her back, "we can destress one another, after we go handle everyone else."
Kai stepped back into the center of the shower and turned around, I couldn't read her thoughts to my answer so I hung the shower head up. She put the conditioner in her long locks, and flipped her head over to make running her fingers through it easier. She stood back up before I could make any sort of move. Kai whipped around and looked at me, "I think maybe we should just get this whole marking thing done, I'm going to haze within three weeks, I'm in heat all the time, I live here with you and we are always naked, yet, I stay in heat." Her voice slowly turning into a growl.
"Would fucking like pornstars please you," I glared at her. She stopped rinsing the conditioner from her hair and returned my look. She inhaled, her eyes wild, wanting to make a sly remark but holding her tongue. I raised a brow at her, pressing her buttons. Her breathing stayed even, all she did was look at me. "Cat got your tongue Princess," I asked, closing the gap between us, staring down at her.
Kai shoved her fists against me, but I grabbed her wrists. She stopped fighting me, and I let her go. She inhaled deep, refusing to say a word, and exhaled slowly. She finished rinsing her hair and turned the water off. Silently grabbing a towel and walking out of the bathroom. I grabbed my own towel, dried off, and tied it around my waist. I walked out to Kai nearly dressed, she didn't look at me, just continued with her jeans and belt. She opened another bag and pulled out a pair of leather boots, they were heeled, and had a belt of their own, with rhinestones in it, two G's made a logo in the center of the belt.
She removed the towel from her hair and walked to the bathroom. I snarled to myself and followed her back in, "Kai.." She didn't even make eye contact with me in the mirror. Just continued to put products in her hair and get ready for her day. Now I inhaled deep, "I'm sorry." Now her eyes met mine, "I know its hard, I can tell you're in heat because I can smell it. All the time, whenever I'm around you." I paused, "I want you, all the time, but until we know who or what is a threat to you.."
"Its not going to matter, we're telling everyone right now, news spreads, my King." She turned around, "I'm sorry," she lowered her eyes, "I say things, before I'm able to rein it in."
I raised a hand and lifted her chin so she was looking at me again, "no, you're right. You wouldn't be in so much heat, or this emotional if I helped take care of your needs." She reached for my hand and pulled it away from her face, "but then, my love," I continued, "I might lose the control I have over myself."
She turned back to the mirror and continued getting ready, "I don't care, because I too, can remind you." I paused at her words, "and you're willing to put your own control... to the test?" I turned and walked away, I needed to get dressed too. I walked over to the closet and grabbed one of the many suits I owned. I checked the time, almost two hours of games. I started to roll my eyes, until a thought crossed my mind. That was the key. Games.
Kai walked out of the bathroom just as I was finished getting ready. I looked at her, "my love," she raised her brow at me, "I have a better idea for you, come," I extended a hand to her. She smiled and walked to me, I pulled her in, and grabbed her shirt, tugging it over her head, I set her on the dresser and kissed her, "if you're in heat," I planted kisses down her bare chest, "then all men can sense it," a growl rumbled in my chest with my own words, but I kissed her again and unclasped the bra she had just put on, "I want you radiating that message to them." I picked her up and put her over my shoulder, only throwing her on to the bed to set her down.
Kai's grin of pleasure fed my ambitions and I unbuckled the belt she was wearing, then her tight black jeans. I pulled them down, and growled huskily when I saw the lace v-string she was wearing. I looked at her and she her hips to the edge of the bed, "I'm sorry love, but you're going to hate me for this." I kissed the lace that covered her, and moved my fingers under it to start teasing. Her breathing was still calm, but I could taste her arousal now. I slid my tongue in with my fingers and receive a moan of approval, she arched her back in pleasure and and her grip tightened around the sheets.
I stood and moved over her, kissing her breast, my fingers still between her legs. She moved her hand to my hair and tangled her fingers in it. I made my way to her lips and removed my fingers right before she could climax. She whined at me, her eyes black, her wolf had come forward.
I looked at her, "I told you, you were going to hate me love," I kissed her again, "but now, nobody can doubt that you are mine." I stood up and walked to the bathroom, washing my hands. "I have something for you, I want you to wear it, and when you walk in, you sit on the arm of my chair." I turned around, she was standing now, a grin on her face again.
"I'd be careful, my King," she put her arms behind her back, "I might whisper little things in your ear," she bit her bottom lip now and I walked over to the closet again. I pulled out a red dress, it was floor length and made of velvet. It would go perfect with her cape from the night before. The neckline was straight across and the arms were tank top styled. Kai gasped and reached a hand out eagerly for the hanger, "its beautiful.." she whispered. She didn't hesitate and stepped into the gown, turning around for me to zip her up. It fit her perfectly, accentuating her curves.
"Would you like to keep those boots on.." I looked at her, "or I might have a pair of shoes for you.." Kai pulled the dress up and looked at her boots.
"Uh, well these I can kick someone's ass in," she simply stated. I let out a laugh, "I suppose you're right." I extended my elbow for her, "let us go, they'll be waiting for three hours by the time we get there." She put her arm through mine and we headed out the door. Once downstairs I put the cape over her shoulders and we walked out the door.
I smiled devilishly at her in the car, "after this is over, I'll take care of the heat, in any and all ways you want."
