Chapter 19: Tahiti

"So, you are saying Nea Alba was present at the 7th Vault yesterday? Along with a partner?" asked Tahiti

"Uh-hm, her partner didn't seem all the strong, though. Get a Grade-6 cuff for Nea, and 5-6 of your guys will handle her."

Tahiti let out a small groan. Sitting in front of me, he was rapping his fingers on the table and pouting from left to right. All his insignificant gestures gave me an oddly familiar feeling. Tahiti picked up the cup of tea for the first time in our exchange and held it not from the handle, but its very bottom.

As if fitting pieces of a puzzle together, my brain clicked and I started laughing.

Looking at the man in front of me, my giggles evolved into a guffaw. How could you blame me? The hundred-faced man was sitting right across from me. The same person with whom I robbed an entire bank. "Haaha... I didn't think it would be you, hundred-faced Dmitri... haha."

Tahiti Dmitri's eyes widened in surprise. In no time at all, he had loaded up a Grade 3 spell and pointed it at my neck.

"Now there, I wouldn't dare use such trifling spells as a threat. You haven't forgotten me, have you, Dmitri?"

"Who are you?"

"So you have! It's me! Your old friend!" I exclaimed, my mouth curved all the way up.

"No fucking way... only one bastard speaks like that...

"How rude! Gimme a hug, big guy!" As I approached Dmitri with my arms wide open, he lept over his chair and backed away.

"Stay 10 steps away, you fucker... Shit! Why are you here, Ivan?!" shouted the man with trembling legs. He was too frightened!

Not gonna lie. His reaction hurts me. I know, I know. I took all the money and locked him inside the bank's vault, leaving him as a small catch for the cops. But that was just a friendly joke, right? Why such an over-the-top reaction?

"Quieten down, your cronies will hear you~," I said.

It's not like he got caught either. Let me give you some context here. Dmitri can change his face into one that he is familiar with. Special grade magic, which takes up a lot of his concentration. Special grade magic spells are called that way because they are unique. Rarely, a person's body and magic pattern weave their energy in such a way that it gives rise to a unique spell. Some could change their faces like Dmitri, or some could even conjure up a whole ass blizzard. Special grade spells are not necessarily unique to a person and could be replicated, albeit with amplitudes of difficulties.

I had never shown Dmitri my face since he could end up using it someday. I walked close to him with small steps and a broad grin. I was honestly glad that Dmitri is the leader of this group; I didn't really want to force-feed someone drugs just to mind wash them.

Dmitri was visibly shaken. His feet were trembling and he couldn't form a sentence. His sweaty face irked me. Why is he so scared? Is it because of how I killed a few hostages while waiting for the rest of our group? That wasn't too brutal, though? Still, he is scared, so I will capitalize on it.

I walked right in front of him till our noses almost touched. Proximity amplifies fear. I placed my palm on his cheek and leaned towards his ear. In a faint whisper, I spoke.

"Dmitri, take up Mayor Sergei's face, tell your people that they were being led by the mayor all along."

Dmitri kept shaking. His eyes darted everywhere in the room. He was the king of this place just mere moments ago, but now fear had gripped him so hard that he couldn't think of anything except running away from me.

Bam!

I slapped Dmitri. He jerked to his side; I pulled his chin to make eye contact. All this worked just to make him more scared. Again, I whispered.

"What do you, Dmitri, What do you say?"

It's important to take his name in each sentence. Dmitri looked like a man who had just lost his country. He barely squeaked out a strained voice. "Y...Y.es... I...understand (Dmitri)"

I caressed his cheeks as if showing him the affection of a parent. "Good, very good... Then, I'll tell you what you'll do next. Just do as I say, and you won't face any problems, Dmitri. You understand, right?"

**

"Psst, this way," said Nea. I followed her, stealthily making our way through the groups of fighting people. We first went towards the leftmost factory, which was a monster hide processing mill.

Circling back to its rear, we reached the large brick wall. There was a window only on its third floor, probably in an office. Just how suffocating must the inside of the factory be? I was about to pull out my kaginawa, a grappling hook attached to a rope, when Nea swept me up from my feet and picked me up in a princess carry. She looked at me and gave me a wink. So cool!

Nea lept up the wall, and in merely two steps she reached the window. We opened it and went inside. Sure enough, it was an office room. The brown carpet got wet from our rain-soaked bodies. After looking around the place for a while, we opened the door and left the office.

The pungent smell of rotting bodies and food immediately greeted us. The room opened to a very narrow corridor. There was a fence directly in front of us, a post which was an open view till the very bottom of the factory. The corridor ran around the perimeter of the walls.

The place was littered with all kinds of trash imaginable, and the heavy machinery made the already cluttered factory a complete maze. We had to look for an explosive in this place.
