Chapter 136: I want to evolve the idol world

During the break, Sumire finds herself observing Toh. He truly is a mysterious person. She has met so many people, but none of them have been like Toh.

Her thoughts break off when he places a lunchbox on her lap.

"Is this for me?"

"Yes. With your personality, I figured you would be here the entire day."

Sumire blushed. "Oh, I was planning on finding a shop nearby and eating there."

Actually, food was the last thing on her mind. She wanted to use the time the president gave her wisely. It probably wasn't easy to rent out the entire station. This is the main music station in town. How much did he spend to do this? Moreover, he has scheduled practice in this building four times a week. Not one or two, but four times.

"I know enough about you to know that you won't do that, and you will get too absorbed practicing."

He makes a point there. Sumire opens the lunch box and immediately sees a bunch of her favorites. She chuckles, seeing how Toh event cut the apples into a bunny shape.

"Toh, where did you learn to dance like that?" Sumire asked curiously.

"Hmm? Why are you that impressed?"

"Yes, that's a very complicated dance from a rising new idol group."

"I know. I was the one who helped them with it."

Sumire blinks once and then again before she loudly exclaims. "You helped them with-?"

Toh's lips curve to a smile. "Why do you not believe me?"

"No, it's not that. It's because I believe you immediately."

Surprisingly, when she heard Toh say those words, she didn't doubt him at all and believed him immediately. Just a few minutes ago, he danced the song so well, almost like he created the dance.

Toh chuckles. "I think we are making some progress if you are starting to believe everything I say."

Sumire looks away, embarrassed. Normally, she would feel mortified being seen through like this. But when Toh sees through her, she doesn't mind. She truly doesn't understand the feelings she has for this person.

"Will you tell me the story?"

"There isn't much to say. These guys came to one of my fashion shows to support their female friends. I caught them outside. They were trying to surprise the girls with a dance from their new song. But they were failing so badly. Coincidentally, I knew these girls."

"So you decided to help them?"

"It was more like I didn't want the girls to be demotivated. So, I helped them fix their dance."

Sumire sweat fell. Was it that bad?

"Those guys have great voices. I am sure they will do well for themselves." Sumire commented.

She kept a careful eye on the male idol groups in the industry. After all, she was Nanairo feather's composer. It's natural for her to keep an eye out for the competition. What she has noticed is groups with powerful vocals tend to have bad dancers, and the same goes vice versa.

It is rare to find a group that is talented in both.

"After receiving my help, they should."

He truly is mysterious. Maybe it's because he is older than her, but his worldview is very different from hers. Or maybe it is because he is a psychologist?

"Anyhow, you. I have to ask, after seeing you dance, why did you become an idol and not just a singer?"

Sumire sweat fell. Was her dancing that bad? This isn't the first time she has been asked this question. Certainly, being a singer would be better for her. She could just focus on singing, and while she will still receive other jobs. She wouldn't have to do as many variety programs and other shows.

However, what she truly wants is to see people smile.

"Idols focus on their fans more, they focus on making them happy, and they have inspired countless people. Thousands of dreams have bloomed because of the idol world."

"I see, is that all?"

"I want to help change what people think about idols. Since idols focus more on fan service, many in the industry are not as talented in singing and dancing. Many who lack the skill. So, I decided to enter the idol industry to change people's opinions."

"I see, but your dancing-"

Sumire chuckled. "Not just me but my friends too. We have two dance experts in the group."

She wants to shape the idol world today alongside her dearest friends.

"But, I really do need to improve my dancing. So I have been practicing in my spare time."

"I see. I don't know much about the entertainment industry. But, your vocals are certainly a cut above the rest." Toh trails off. "I've never heard somebody sing as well as you."

Sumire felt her cheeks redden hearing his words. "I-I'm not that good."

There are plenty of others who are more skilled than her.

Toh shakes his head. "I think you forgot that I saw you sing just now."

"But pop songs aren't my specialty. I made some mistakes."

The staff members were too focused on the fact that she actually managed to sing.

"Then will you show me what you're capable of?" Toh looks around. He points to the piano in the corner of the stage. "Perfect. Tsueno told me you play the piano too. Let me listen to you play while you sing a ballad."

Sumire looked at him dumbfounded. Is he truly interested in her singing? Or maybe, this is another way of him showing that he is interested in her? She glances over at the piano. Actually, when she saw it earlier. She had to stop herself from rushing over and focusing on singing her pop song.

It seems Toh has already figured out that she sings ballads better. Since he already knows, showing him won't do any harm. Moreover, maybe it will help Toh gain a better understanding of her. They have gotten a lot closer since she started staying over at his place. But there is still a wall between them.

When she sings, she is more honest. Sumire walks over to the piano and sits down. She closed her eyes and took a deep breath before she started to sing.

"I love you, hooray!

I'm glad we're here,

I'm glad the both of us are here!

I love you, hooray!

This just started, so treat me well tomorrow too!

This isn't our goal yet.

Smile. It will blow away your sadness.

If you smile, the scenery will change, and you'll cheer up.

Feeling insecure is still a path that leads to happiness.

I can now see the blue sky!"

'Yuhi, I am very happy that even now you're singing for me. Even though you hurt me with your music the other day, you did that because you didn't want to hide it from me anymore. You chose to tell me in the form of music because you knew if you said it directly, it would hurt me less. You're so silly. Even now, you care more about me than yourself.'
