Chapter 34: Chapter 33 - Thundra... The Vampire Princess?

Dragons...

Felix watched the scene before him in shock. He frighteningly discovered he wasn't able to move, he was just watching events unfold before his eyes.

Was this the power of Vision?

In the scene playing before Felix, he could see the world developing at shocking speeds. From the age of clubs and stone to an age of swords.

Dragons, wyverns, angels, demons... magic. Everything fantasy begin to fade with the passage of time and advancement of technology.

Dragons went extinct... wyverns and demons exterminated... gods put to sleep... magic sealed away.

Believers of magic continued to deplete as the world speedily undergoes degeneration, it's once vast and endless resources burned up to create more technology.

Felix watched as the ages advanced from small tents to towering automated skyscrapers... when the world was at it's peak of global warming... the apocalypse struck.

The whole world was pushed into a state of global collapse, the cosmic energy aiding in the speedy destruction of the atmosphere. Billions of lives were lost, and millions endangered.

Felix watched eons pass in a blink, his mind managing to grab as much information as he could summing up with only one sentence in his heart:

'The world is truly... collapsing.'

Felix closed his eyes, opening them to see the golden haired man smiling softly at him. The words 'chosen to be a hero' crossed his mind, but was erased by his bubbling hatred for humanity.

"I don't want to be a hero. The humans and their like could go down in hell for all I know. Besides, the world had to end anyway." Felix said with a frown before adding with a faint voice, "And I still don't know who you really are... I couldn't find you in the vision."

"I am Cyprus, god of eternal destruction. I was right where the last dragon fell, in the body of a man riding a gray horse." Cyprus rolled his silver eyes then continued, "Besides I'm not the one who choose you to be a hero. You're better off dead and forgotten within the span of time and history. Becoming a universal hero is nothing, but a pipe dream."

"I know, that's why I don't want to be a hero." Felix said bluntly before lifting his gun and pointing at the man hovering in the air before him. His gaze turned cold as he opened his mouth and asked a question, "Now, explain to me why someone would chose me to be something that I hate with all my heart?"

"With the amount of profanity unleashed from your mouth I agree it's a rather shocking decision, but your world desperately needs a true hero..." The man said with a smile as he began to slowly drop down to the ground, looking as light as a feather.

Felix lowered his head in thought. Did he really want to save the world that took his family from him? Did he want to save the world that fights against his existence?

No, but... Earth is his home, earth is his roots... Earth is his origin.

One can never run away from one's origin. You can't run away from yourself, and you can't escape from your roots.

"If the world needs a true superhero..." Felix lifted his head to stare into the eyes of the man standing before him, "Go give them one. I will never be a hero to a world that hates me."

"You are really too naive for the job..." Cyprus smirked coldly and waved his hands, "Don't you understand what befalls you and your pathetic race? A doom greater than your compression lurks in the darkness, and you all are too weak to face it."

Felix who was about to retort suddenly saw something appear before his eyes, it was a large black dragon leading an army of iron skeletons into the Stellar Federation. His silver eyes contracted as his brain began to process the information sent into it.

'Dragons in the apocalypse? What was the real deal here?' Felix thought with a frown as the image before him faded to reveal Cyprus's smiling face.

"The real deal is that the stupidity of the likes of you has lead to a catastrophe greater than what I anticipated." Cyprus held his shin as his smile turned into a frown, "A warp portal would be opened in your world leading to an alternate earth blooming with magic. Due to the innate fear of humans toward the unknown, the magical humans would attack your kind and vice versa."

"What do you need a hero for? Someone needs to pay for their mistakes once in a while." Felix said as he lowered his gun, but the vigilance shown on his face wasn't dropped.

"A hero is needed to fend off the monsters that'll try to take advantage of all the chaos. A hero is needed to shower it's light upon the the darkness of doom and destruction." Cyprus seemed to have attained a golden halo around him as he spoke, his silvery voice loud and powerful. His words sounded like a melody, seeping into the very depths of Felix's soul.

Despite that, Felix's mind remained unperturbed. Lowering his gun, Felix slowly retracted his fierce aura.

"I can't be a hero. Not for as long as I live, but I will try my best to aid any real hero brought to me." Felix lowered his head and released his clenched fists before adding, "I'll try my best to stop the world from imminent destruction, but... What's in it for me?"

Cyprus choked on his next words of praise after hearing that as his golden eyes flashed with a strange light. Even when his home is endangered, this shameless fellow has the guts to ask for his own gain in saving it.

"You... Fine! If you successfully save the world, you have the opportunity to make a request to me and it shall be granted if it is within my ability to do so." Cyprus said as he lowered his eyes in defeat. Lifting his head again, he turned around and began walking back to his throne.

"Who will you assign to me?" Felix asked, his eyes radiating a dull silver glow. He wasn't going to accept if the god wannabe couldn't even tell him the hero being assigned to him.

"I'm going to assign someone that'll make this interesting to your world. A member of the world of fantasy, a compassionate and well mannered hero..." Cyprus climbed up his throne and swiftly sat down with a smile on his face. He closed his eyes, then, continued in a mysterious voice, "Thundra, the vampire princess."
