The dark energy spread from the cut on Neveah's palm, churning through her veins up the length of her hand and then back down.

The pain felt as though Neveah's right hand had been set on fire, it was excruciating.

Neveah's hand trembled as she tried to ignore the pain but it only grew worse the more she tried to ignore it.

It was even more painful than the broken rib or being slammed into a tree.

"A mark of dark magic, how did this happen?!" Menarx snarled furiously, his rage clearly directed at Cassian.

"Narx, no...they know nothing about it. No one did." Neveah quickly defended, her words forced out through gritted teeth.

Neveah had not realized that getting the blood of the troll golem into her wound would leave such an effect, even now, Neveah could not understand what this was.

She did not have to ponder over it, Everon took Neveah's hand from Menarx and inspected it.
