Chapter 8: conquer the world
After a good night's sleep, Alex and Emily were standing near the lake, and Alex was instructing Emily on how to use her skills.
"you should be able to cast the spell needed to activate your two active skills by default since you have the passive skill spell cast. It will give you the knowledge on how to cast spells.
As for your second passive skill, mother's warmth, I think it has something to do with your first job. Take out your egg, and let's see its effect."
Emily summoned the egg and looked at it. At first, nothing seemed different, but when she examined it closely, she found out that the requirement for hatching it had been changed.
"it says here that I only need nine billion INB now instead of the previous ten, and with every passing month, it will get a billion less." Emily summarized the notification.
"good, that's a good skill for saving money. I think if you level it up, it will take less to hatch an egg." Alex commented.
"But Alex, I don't want to wait for nine months. I want a pet now." Said Emily with a sad face.
"it's OK; we will have the money to hatch it before then. So just be patient for a bit. Now let's see your two active skills. First, let's see your healing hand." said Alex and cut the top of his right index finger with a small kitchen knife.
Emily was scared for a second, but Alex assured her that it was alright, and she calmed down.
She took a deep breath, stretched her hands in front of her, and chanted a strange incantation to activate her healing hand.
The wound on Alex's finger started to heal at a visible rate to the naked eye, and he could feel his finger burning a little bit before the scar was completely gone.
"WOW, it really is magic," said Emily in excitement.
It wasn't magic, actually, but science. The nanobots in his body would affect his body cells and would hasten the healing process to the point that it seemed like magic.
The nanobots could even heal internal injuries or even replace organs if needed if the person's skill level was high and nanobots in the environment were enough.
The incantation and skill activation was just the system being dramatic.
Using healing spells also had its own problems. For the body cells to work faster, the body needs to spend energy, and that energy consumption would cause the person's stamina to drop considerably.
This scar, for example, took two stamina points worth of energy to heal. So if someone wanted to use heal in the middle of the battle, they had to be extremely careful not to exhaust their stamina reserves.
After explaining the simplified version of the matter to Emily and making sure that she wouldn't use it on herself for minuscule scars and scratches, Alex asked her to use her second active skill, dark blast.
Emily pointed her hand towards Alex and was about to cast the spell when Alex shouted in fear, "not at me. It's most probably an attack-type spell. Point to something else."
Emily chuckled at his brother's fear and pointed her finger at a nearby tree.
After casting the spell, a dark ball of energy the size of a golf ball came out of Emily's finger and went in the direction of the tree at a relatively fast speed.
The ball hit the tree and blasted into particles. At first, nothing happened, and Emily was getting disappointed when suddenly, the huge tree started withering, and its leaves started falling.
'such a terrifying skill; I don't even want to imagine what would happen if that skill hit a human,' thought Alex.
"WOW, so powerful." Emily, on the other hand, didn't understand the magnitude of the matter and was oblivious to the fact that she had just killed a tree.
'Thank god she thinks of it as just a game' Alex sighed in relief. He didn't want his sister to get sad over a tree when even the human lives wouldn't matter more than a rare item in the future.
"Listen, Emily. Right now, our goal is to level up and gain some INB. So from today until we run out of food and have to go back to the city, we will go hunting and questing all day except for food time." Said Alex in a serious tone.
"ai ai, sir, I'm with you till the end," answered Emily while putting her right hand near her head like a soldier.
A loving smile appeared on Alex's face. He really missed his playful sister.
In his previous life, Alex lost his sister a year after the explosion. They both lived miserable lives and didn't have anything to eat.
Alex couldn't provide enough food for his sister and leveling up was so hard since they were kids and had no one to care for them. As for his stepmother, she left them as soon as chaos took over the world in the second month, to live with a powerful "player".
In the end, Emily died in a fight between two guilds over an epic item which was considered the highest rank item at the time.
After that, Alex dedicated all his life to taking revenge for his sister and was consumed by rage until he killed all the people in both guilds.
After killing all those men and women, Alex was flustered, he was just a twenty-year-old kid when he finished his revenge and with no one in his life and no goal, he decided to end his own life.
But at the last moment, he was saved by his guild previous leader.
After that, Alex joined his guild leader's newly formed guild and soon was promoted to the position of vice-guild master.
His guild leader's dream was to create a place where people could live in peace like the times before the nano system or even better for that matter, so Alex too, found his goal.
He wanted to create a place where kids like Emily could live happy lives but as they got stronger, they understood how foolish that dream was.
There was always a stronger person. There was always a stronger group.
If they wanted to reach their dream, they had to be the strongest, and after so many years and with their weak foundation, that was almost impossible.
'but now, I have another chance. I will make our dream come true leader. Just wait for me, I will come find you and we will do it together' thought Alex.
With a second chance at life, Alex had the knowledge and power to make that dream come true.
And with those five legendary items as his future guild's foundation, he was sure that he could crush anyone who stood in his way.
But for now, he had to wait. If he wanted everything to go as he wanted, he had to be patient and execute his plans one step at a time.
And the first step in his plans, for now, was to get his hands on those five legendary items.
As for his next step, he wasn't sure yet. But he was sure of one thing; that he was going to be the strongest person in the whole world.
"I will conquer the world if I need to, to reach my goal." Said Alex with a firm and strong tone.
"huh?" said Emily, not knowing what his brother was thinking.
