Chapter 16: The scandalous queen
After the doctors left, Bai Liyue chatted with the nurse.
From her, she was able to get a lot of valuable information about this body. Infact she was surprised to know that it was not two but three years since her(Bai Liyue) death. As for this body, it belonged to a woman named Chen Ziyue. She was a pop singer with the worst reputation out there. In short, she was known as 'the scandalous queen' and there were several scandals about her. She was the media's favorite as they got the opportunity to spice up their article through her the people hated her and talk trash about her.
Two years ago, Chen Ziyue attended a famous party with all the a-listers, talented people, producers, businessmen, and directors. There she was slapped and humiliated by the wife of one of the rich elite businessmen who called her a homewrecker, a slut, and a vixen who seduced that woman's husband and was in an adulterous relationship with that rich businessman.
Chen Ziyue tried to defend herself but there was solid proof against her. Nobody believed in her words and spoke ill things about her.
That same night, Chen Ziyue committed suicide by jumping from the terrace of that same building. Her injuries were so serious that she went into a coma with only life support machines preventing her total death. Her actions only fueled the flame and incited the people and the media to talk more trash about her.
Everyone hated homewreckers, especially those wives who had to deal with their husband's extramarital affairs. Hence, when she committed suicide most people were glad while some took it as an act of repentance from her sins. There were few who thought that she was not able to bear the exposure of dirty deeds and hence she chose to commit suicide.
Several people were talking about several things about her. However, nobody felt pity or sad for her.
Even Chen Ziyue's parents believed the news and were disappointed in her. After the first day when she was brought to the hospital, they never visited her. They paid for her treatments and left her in the hands of talented doctors and capable nurses. Only her little sister would often visit her once per month and spend time with her.
From the nurse, she also heard about Chen Ziyue's perfect and handsome fiance, Mr. Si Jingyuan. The nurse rambled on how perfect that man was, on how he would visit her, hold her hands and cry for her. The nurse told her how her fiance believed in her when nobody did and how much he loved her.
Hearing the nurse singing praises of Chen Ziyue's perfect and handsome fiance, Bai Liyue rolled her eyes internally. In her past life, she had to struggle and fight with Qin Yufeng and in this life, she had this perfect and handsome fiance. She was already tired from dealing with Qin Yufeng in her past life that in this life she didn't want to deal with any man no more.
Hence, this engagement must come to an end. Anyways, Chen Ziyue was dead, and with her, this engagement was also dead. She was Bai Liyue and her only goal in this life was to become an actress. As for the engagement with this perfect and handsome fiance must be broken. She would never let herself be caged in any relationship anymore.
After the nurse left, Bai Liyue looked at the white ceiling.
Though she had already accepted the fact that she had transmigrated into another person's body, yet somewhere deep in her mind it still seemed quite impossible. She was getting the feeling of being in a weird dream which would break once she gets up.
Bai Liyue sighed.
This was her new life and she would never let go of this opportunity even if she had to give up on her past and live as another person. Deep down inside, it would still be her. Just as she was lying on the bed and thinking about her new journey, the door flew open. She wrinkled her nose when a strong perfumy scent hit her nose.
She glanced at the door and saw a young woman making her way inside. She had an innocent-looking face with sharp eyes. She looked quite young and was wearing stylish formal pants paired with a pink blouse. Bai Liyue raised her brows at the young woman.
"Oh my God!!! Ziyueee... Thank God, you are awake!!!!" The young woman hugged her. "You know, you scared me. For two years, I have been worried sick about you and was blaming myself for not protecting you well. I am sorry!!! It's all my fault for not protecting you well."
Bai Liyue glanced at the unfamiliar woman. "Ummm... Excuse me, but you are?"
The woman stepped back in shock. "Ziyue, why are looking at me like this? Don't you remember me? I am Yuan Li, your agent and friend."
"My agent?"
Yuan Li nodded. She grabbed Chen Ziyue's hand and looked at her closely. "Ziyue, what's wrong with you? Do you not remember me?"
Bai Liyue shook her head. At first, she thought that maybe meeting the people who were familiar with the previous owner might help her to unlock some part of Chen Ziyue's memory, but nothing happened. She was expecting some memory, some image to flash in her mind, but none. It looked like she was not going to receive any memory of the previous owner and had to manage this life on her own.
This was a boon as well as a curse for her. It was a boon because now she can act like her own self instead of trying to act like Chen Ziyue without any fear. Nobody will get suspicious about the difference in her behavior because she has memory loss. At the same time, it was a big curse because now, anybody can take advantage of her.
She can trust no one fully without the previous owner's memory.
"No," she said. "Because of the fall, I have memory loss."
"What?!?!?!" Yuan Li was shocked.
Bai Liyue nodded. "I don't remember anything or anybody."
"Oh my God!!!! That's so terrible," Yuan Li gasped and hugged her again tight. "Ziyue, I am so sorry. This is all because of me. I shouldn't have forced you to go to that party nor should I have left you alone to hear all those slanderous words. If I would have been there with you, then maybe you wouldn't have... you know what, let's not talk about that incident anymore."
"It's good that now you are fine," Yuan Li smiled.
