Chapter 2: Chapter 2

It couldn't possibly be him... She told herself and to her already thumping heart. She couldn't avert her eyes away from him as his cold, smouldering eyes bored deep inside her but it currently glared at her.

"E—Excuse me?" She asked collecting her thoughts to herself. It was hard to register what just happened and when she did, her hands froze and she felt her feet shook.

"I said, watch while you go! Can't you see, you are troubling people in the middle of the street?" He shouted and now her heart stopped thumping instead it pumped all her blood loudly in her veins. She was getting angry. She looked around and noticed, there were hardly a few pedestrians.

"But there is no one..."

The man's brows twitched. "There is me and I am a pedestrian as well." He said through gritted teeth which made Cicil furious.

She huffed. She pointed at his chest with her finger and said while poking, "First, you should have seen me coming if you were so good at following a pedestrian rule or whatever, Second, you didn't even help me while I was collecting the papers and you, mister, stood like a jerk all the while and third, you didn't even thank me."

Cicil crossed her arms across her chest and asked, "Why should I watch out for a jerk-ish pedestrian such as you?"

By now, rage engulfed the man as his jaw clenched tightly. It felt like Cicil was slowly waking a sleeping lion up from his slumber. She could feel his anger sipping out of him and it somehow made her legs tremble.

The man caught her arm and jerked toward him as she stumbled on her heels and collided against his chest. There faces were so near that she forgot to breath for a moment. The man's face darkened as he said with a hard voice, "It seems like you don't know me..."

"D—don't give yourself so much privilege." Cicil managed to squish out a few words because there was no option to give in to his intimidating aura and she won't back down without a fight—even if it was scary.

The man's eyes glinted devilishly as Cicil screamed in her mind because he seemed like a dangerous man no one would want to cross path with but of course, she didn't let it show on her face.

A black BMW halted just beside them and now Cicil's inside howled in fear. Another man came out of it and he had worn a black suit and pants along with an earphone. And he was coming their way.

"You are lucky that I am very busy today..." He said with a cold voice, "But next time, if we meet..."

As the man reached them, the man before her loosened her arm. She hadn't noticed that he held her so tightly that it might give her some bruises.

"Boss, is there any problem?" the man asked.

Cicil looked between the two man. He wasn't going to kidnap her because of some trivia fight, was he?

"Nothing. Let's go." And they finally left.

Right now, she couldn't feel more relieved. She was sure if the bodyguard hadn't come she was about to faint or maybe piss in her skirt.

These damn city people were so making her mad!

She looked at her watch and saw she was late by five minutes!

"Urgh!" Letting a frustrated growl, she started to run to her office. It was only the second day yet that weird man made her late.

She wanted to sue him for being rude to her but she didn't want to see him again. Somehow, she felt if they met again the situation might turn worse.

A strange feeling told her that he was the man from her empty canvas, the senior from her school. But that boy never made her scared instead she had no guts to go speak to him or ask anyone about him. She was shy and embarrassed.

She recalled the stranger's eyes and disregarded it immediately. Nah! There was no chance it was him.

As she reached the hotel, she huffed like a dog and her chest hurt from all the exercises she had never done before.

She entered and went to the receptionist desk as the girl from beside her desk asked, "Wow! What happened? You look like you ran away from a prison."

"Something like that..." Cicil sat on her chair and calmed her raging heart.

"Don't be late from tomorrow."

Cicil snapped her head toward the girl as her brows knitted in worry. "Why? H—Has the manager said something?"

"No. He hasn't come out from his office room. He must be busy."

Cicil released a sigh.

"But if he comes to know that then you're doomed."

Cicil stiffened and looked at the girl. Apparently, both of them joined yesterday and she learnt the manager was very strict to the rules because it was a five star hotel. There shouldn't be any mistakes.

She turned on her desktop and logged in. She had already listed out today's list of customers. All she had to do was put their names and information on the document. Easy.

She beamed to herself. Even though the hotel provided personal training for their staffs, it didn't take her long to get the middle desk. The desk that every woman wanted. She nailed it and she was proud of herself.

They heard the sliding door and Cicil was ready to attend their customer. With confidence she stood up while looked at the hotel entrance and froze immediately.

All of her confidence that was oozing out of her a moment ago, jumped out from the window. Because it was the same stranger with whom she fought a while ago and he was coming in their way with two bodyguards behind him.

She snapped her head down to hide away from that man and suddenly she felt the desktop screen was not large enough to hide her. She cursed because most of the people come directly to the middle desk.

Please, go to the other desk. She wished but she could feel that overwhelming aura from just before her. She pretended to see the screen before her and it felt nice to see a blank white screen than to see his eyes.

There was a knock on her desk and now she had no choice but to look up.

She looked up and with a blank face, she asked, "How may I help you, sir?"

He looked straight in her eyes while she felt her knees wiggling under her body weight but she managed to stay straight somehow.

For a brief moment, his eyes wandered her face and Cicil could see the faint smirk on his evil face. "I would like to book a room."

"For how many days, sir?"

"Possibly for a week."

Dang! A week! Why? Couldn't he possibly fly back like now?

"Yes, sir." She typed on her keyboard and her shaky hands somehow did their work.

She asked never leaving her eyes from the computer, "For one, sir?"

"Yes."

She bit her lower lip unconsciously while felt rigid under his scrutinising gaze.

"Your documents, sir?"

He gave his identity card where she found out his name 'Chase Wellington."

Chase. Was it?

"Here you go, sir. Room no. 107," she handed over the documents and his keys.

He got his keys and before leaving to the lift, he whispered enough for her to hear, "We meet again."

Her breath caught in her throat while her eyes got round. Wh—what did he mean by that?
