Chapter 7: Finally An Active Skill

Despite being stubborn, Nakami realizes that the benefits of posting videos with his phone outweigh the negatives. Nakami plans to educate himself on videography tomorrow, as he has no prior experience in content creation. He then closes his eyes and falls asleep.

Six hours later, Nakami woke up before sunrise, drank some water from a container, and went outside to see his newly made forge. Nakami was thrilled to see his forge and begin creating ceramics using leftover clay once he had enough charcoal to fuel the fire.

Nakami left his base to gather materials and chop down trees, as he did the day before. Today, he was able to chop 25 trees, an improvement from yesterday, but the number of fibers he collected stayed the same since he couldn't venture too far from his base. Nakami burned half of the trees he chopped down to make charcoal, then went to the shoreline to gather food while listening to videos about videography.

When Nakami arrived at the shoreline, it was noon. He was seen sitting under a large palm tree, taking shelter from the sun and watching his phone. He gathered enough foods to eat already but he decided to rest there for awhile. Nakami learned that he could use flint to make weapons and as a fire starter. So, he gathered a lot of it, grateful that he brought his log cart with him this time.

Nakami learned from that he could use flint to make weapons and as a fire starter. So, he gathered a lot of it and put it into his log cart. Nakami filled his containers with sea water, as it can be used in the creation of ceramics later.

Upon reaching his base, Nakami started preparing food and left the remaining fish to dry. The charcoal he made was still hot, making it difficult to move, so he left it as it was. Though he got tired of eating the same thing, he still need to eat.

Once he finished resting, Nakami used the sea water to shape the clay into ceramic kitchen tools and food utensils. He decided to only make a single jug today, as his focus was primarily on creating tools. All he wanted was to be able to drink boiled water or soup!

Nakami then arranged everything properly in the forge and burned it with the charcoal. The sun was going down in less than two hours, so he left his base for the spring to gather water and take a bath, as well as wash his clothes.

He then went back to his base. The ceramics done being dry, he washed the pieces and boiled water in a newly made jug. He kept boiled water in the cabin to prevent contamination and avoid getting sick, as his healing perk only heals, not prevents illness.

He went inside his cabin since there was nothing else to do outside. He set to work making ropes and sharpening flints that he had acquired. The sharpened stones would be used to improve his older version of stone knives and serve as the tip for his latest weapon, a stone spear.

An hour later, he had created a pair of stone spears and knives, which were his newest tools. He recorded the entire process of making these tools and planned to upload it after editing it.

Working at night with [Night Owl] was a breeze, as it made the process smoother. While recording a video, he noticed the impressive capabilities of the phone cameras. The video recorded was clear and crisp, almost as if it were recorded in a studio with artificial lighting.

The editing tools provided were also user-friendly, with no lag while using them. It was impressive that even though rendering a video is usually difficult on a normal phone, his magical phone outperformed even high-performance PCs.

Half an hour later, he finished editing the video. He had created a short clip showcasing the process of making a stone axe in a primitive way. The editing process took a bit longer as he also added a short story to the video to make it more easily understood and engaging.

"Ugh.. This is more exhausting than chopping down trees. I can't believe I'm getting nervous about pressing the 'Upload' button."

He pressed the upload button, and the content began uploading. He was surprised by the size of the videos he uploaded, as they totaled almost 1TB. The estimated time for the upload to complete was one hour, so he decided to take his spear and practice martial arts to pass the time.

Although he quickly mastered the use of a stone spear with the help of [Tools Time], he believed that practicing martial arts related to the weapon would improve his body and mentality. There was no shortcut to gaining mastery, especially in martial arts, and he understood the importance of going through the process.

"Teeeeeeet teeeeeeeet"

Nakami quickly stopped practicing to look at his phone.

"Congratulations, [Content Creator] and [Alchemic Transmuter] achievements unlocked. Keep on posting new videos, content creator!"

Nakami felt somewhat uncomfortable. He never imagined that he would be labeled as a content creator. Being introverted and reserved, it seemed like an impossible role for him.

"Well, it is not that bad. At least I know I can change.."

He then got shocked when he read the details of his latest perks.

[Content Creator] - Camera and gallery unlocked. Contents posted on the channels generate 'E', daily.

The second perk, however, was something new to him. He had finally learned how to use the 'E' he had obtained previously. He could now see the amount of 'E' he had collected on his app, which showed '30E' from the six achievements he had unlocked.

[Alchemic Converter] - Transmute things from videos into real life. Requires E and substitute material.

"Holy heck. This is it, my golden spoon! Well, I still need to know to operate this transmuting skill especially with the small amount 'E' I have.."

Despite the late hour, Nakami persisted in performing a transmutation before sleeping. He decided to use a small chair he had made from wooden sticks as the substitute material.

To use his skill, he had to find a video that contained the item he wanted to transmute, and he would need to take a picture of the substitute material.

Nakami wanted to obtain a solar-powered clock with a battery that would last for several days, and he found one that met his requirements. He then used the Alchemic Converter.

A new interface pop on his phone.

"Transmuting wooden chair to solar-power clock with battery. Required 5E. Press Yes to continue, No to cancel."

Nakami immediately press 'No' since he needed to know how the 'E' cost works. He then uses his skill to transmute the wooden chair into old and simple wooden clock.

"Transmuting wooden chair to classic wooden clock. Required 1E. Press Yes to continue, No to cancel."

"Nope"

Nakami was pleased with the way 'E' deducted because it doesn't cost much as long he can gets more 'E' later. But he still found it expensive to transmute simple objects, as each transmutation would still cost him a single 'E' regardless of its complexity.

"Well, whatever. Living without clock is just impossible. Transmute now!"

Suddenly, the wooden chair was enveloped in a bright white light, and when the light faded, the solar-powered clock Nakami desired was there in its place. It looked exactly as it had in the video he used as reference.

The clock was both analog and digital and was already ticking, displaying the current time of '00:45'.

"Ah it feels so good to see something modern.. I need to sleep, can't wait for tomorrow.."
