Chapter 2: Chapter 2
The wolf jumped with his flock and started approaching them slowly.
"Me, Taras, and Rein will try to attack the boss, the others watch our backs" Wim declared as he grabbed and pulled his greatsword from behind his back while looking at the wolf boss getting closer to them.
He then looked towards Velten and nodded with a serious look on his face "we're counting on you again today, Velten!"
Velten slightly nodded, as he got more and more nervous. He was basically the core of the team since he was defending and distracting the enemies from behind.
Rose stood in the middle of the field and hit the ground with a wand she had.
A huge magical circle appeared on the ground and boosted the team's stats.
As the leader and the other two dashed towards the wolf, some of the smaller wolves gathered in front of it and got in their way. However, before they could defend the boss, Velten grabbed his bow and pulled the string.
A see-through yellow arrow appeared and started rolling in the air, and the snow started gathering and swirling around it.
It was the only magical spell that Velten could use, Shells of Malakbel. The problem is that this skill consumes a lot of mana, especially since Velten had a natural low mana
When Velten released it, the arrow scooted at a spectacular speed and penetrated the wolves, then it kept going until it hit the boss's leg and managed to damage it a bit.
Before Velten could help with anything else, one of the smaller wolves jumped with its mouth wide open trying to bite Veltens's exposed neck.
Nevertheless, Velten quickly reached down to his scabbard, pulled his dagger, and swung it to cut the wolf's jaw. Then he held the dagger plumb and stabbed the wolf in the top of his head.
Velten then took some normal arrows after he returned the dagger into its sheath, and started helping the team with the smaller wolves while the leader Wim and the other two made their way to the boss.
Wim held his greatsword with both hands and jumped. He swiftly swung it, aiming for the boss's neck, but before he can hit it, a long flying ice crystal appeared on top of the boss's head and flung towards Wim.
The leader used his greatsword to deflect it, and before anything else could happen, he retreated.
"Leader! Are you okay?!" Taras called when Wim landed on the ground.
"I'm okay, don't worry" Wim stated "just focus and don't let this big dog hit you"
Taras nodded and leaned forward holding his sword. He dashed towards the boss at full speed and tried to reach its leg, but some smaller wolves quickly attacked him.
However, before those wolves can reach Taras, fire bullets came flying and immediately blew them away. Taras looked behind him to find Rein aiming at the wolves with his hand. Taras then smiled and nodded to Rein and continued.
Taras activated his skill [The Epic Swordsman] and swung his sword to try and cut the wolf's leg, but it only left some scratches and only managed deal few good hits.
Taras retreated and said while heavily breathing "I used one of my best skills which uses a lot of mana, but it didn't do anything against it. This dog is truly tough"
"Let me try something then" Rein replied. He raised his hand and started casting a spell while aiming at the boss's head "To all those souls who are watching us up close and from afar, please lend me your power, [Charm of Spectral Disruption]"
5 blue blades started to form around Rein, and after a few moments, they launched at the boss's head and hit it. It looked like the blades caused a lot of damage to the boss.
However, when the boss moved his head down, it appeared that only a bit of its head was really affected by the hit, and the rest blades didn't do much damage to it.
「How dare you, human!」
Everyone turned their heads toward the boss as he said these words.
"H-Huh..? H-how… can a monster speak like us?" Velten uttered in fear.
"Don't panic everyone!" Wim declared "The monsters in the high levels can easily adopt any language, so hold yourselves together"
Velten felt a little bit relieved, but the fear was still going through his veins since he never encountered any monster that can talk in his life before.
"HOWL!!"
The boss loudly howled again, and the place started to shake, with the snowstorm getting violent again.
"Wh-what is happening?" one of the team members asked.
「I hope you are ready for the consequences, humans!」
