Chapter 361: Journey Ahead
As Yami was finished with the Bishop, he wanted to devour him as well but to his disappointment the body of the Bishop started shriveling like the other cultists.
'What a waste. I should have used some other technique to take him down.' Yami thought as he could see wisps of the corrupted energy leaving the Bishop's body and disappearing without a single trace.
Yami then looked around him and saw that Sasuke and Lee had taken care of the remaining cultists already and now except Guy, they all were looking at him.
"Instead of ganging up on that Shark, why are you all focused here?" Yami asked to which Lee pointed behind him at a big blob of moving water and said,
"Most of us aren't good at fighting underwater and even though me and Naruto were ready to enter the water and fight, Guy sensei stopped us and said that this was his fight to finish. Something about repeating his dad's work."
"I can throw a strong lightning jutsu but it won't have much accuracy and could even hit Guy. Would it be alright to just leave Kisame along to him Kakashi sensei?" Sasuke asked to which Kakashi chuckled and said "Don't you worry. I am sure Guy is strong enough to handle a big fish like Kisame. But Yami is there any way to weaken Kisame from the outside?" to which Yami thought for a few seconds and said "Yes but I will require everyone here to throw fire related jutsus at the water blob here."
Kakashi knew that Guy was more than capable to fight and even defeat someone like Kisame but this could take some time and they didn't have much or else the Akatsuki members may get fully healed and run away back to their headquarters.
Everyone who could perform a fire jutsu got ready to cast it and Yami also stood in front of the water blob.
"Don't go too near the blob Yami. We have noticed that Kisame always stays in the middle of it and however he moves, the blob moves and adjusts itself to be in the middle." Gaara warned and Yami just nodded.
As the others were waiting to see what Yami was going to do now, they saw someone come out of his back. For a few seconds, they were a bit confused by it but then they saw the dark red tentacles...3 of them to be precise.
"This is what he used in the hidden mist to defeat that monster." Kakashi said as he remembered the scary tentacles.
"So this is scorch release." Elder Chiyo said in a dry tone to which Gaara asked "What's the matter elder?"
Elder Chiyo looked at him and said "Pakura even though being the single ever user to scorch release was respected and feared by many in this world but I don't think even she had attained this amount of mastery over it."
"Are you saying that Yami has surpassed her in the use of Scorch release?" Gaara asked to which the old woman nodded and said "Yes he has. She was only able to create blobs and discs of this when she was at her peak but this kid has managed to create multiple of these tentacles. Even if one of them touches my puppets, they won't stand a chance."
The Tentacles became long enough to reach the height of the water blob and then they started to flatten increasing their surface area threefold. Yami looked at the ones standing behind him and said "Once I lay the tentacles on the blob, cast your fire jutsus in the space between two tentacles."
Yami then in one single motion laid the three flattened tentacles on the water blob making a loud sizzling sound and tons of vapor being thrown in the air. So much of water getting instantly vaporized created large amounts of vapor blurring everyone's eyesight.
"Sasuke activate your Sharingan and guide them where to attack. I will do the same." Kakashi quickly instructed and activated his own Sharingan as well. As everyone cast their jutsus more sizzling sounds could be heard and more vapor had spread across the desert.
"Now what?" Naruto asked to which Kakashi said "We have done our best to reduce the volume of water and that must have weakened Kisame's domain quite a lot so now we just wait and let Guy do his thing."
Just as Kakashi finished saying his part, something just whizzed by the entire group and crashed into the cliff. The entire cliff was destroyed and collapsed on itself.
Yami just stamped his foot on the ground making a strong gust of air originate from under his feet and spread in all directions. This completely cleared the air around the group making them gain their visibility back to the fullest.
"Couldn't you have this before?" Temari asked as she gave Yami the side eye. Yami glanced at her and said "Says the girl who has a big fan strapped to her back."
As everyone looked at the collapsed cliff they heard some movement coming from its middle and soon the rocks and debris around there started to show some movement.
Naruto just took a step further to see who it was, an injured Kisame stepped out of the rubble staggering and blood leaking from his mouth.
He had plenty of injuries on his body as well but now he wasn't in his shark form anymore. He looked like he normally used to.
"Should we subdue him now?" Sakura asked but then she felt something coming from behind her. As she turned back she saw Guy pass by her and the group with a fist stretched out toward Kisame.
BOOM
Another punch landed by Konoha's green beast pushing Kisame back further and making him go through a few small hills. The entire group rushed further to see Kisame's state and saw him laying on the ground with his sword a few meters away from him. Guy was standing just beside Kisame looking down on him.
"Don't move a muscle or else I won't hesitate to land a few more punches on you." Guy warned rubbing his fist.
Kisame wasn't one to listen to anyone. He just smirked as he heard that and with one hand forced jets of water to come from the ground around his body and create a kind of barrier between him and Guy. While his other hand tried to grab Samehada. The sword was also dragging itself close to Kisame since he had fallen on the ground.
Guy pulled his arm back and threw a strong punch toward Kisame. The punch not only destroyed the barrier that Kisame had created but also created a hole inside Kisame's chest killing him on the spot.
Kakashi walked closer to see Kisame's body and said "That was an idiotic last-ditch effort to stay alive. Sakura put his body and the sword in a storage scroll. We will leave the matter of handling both those things to Lady Tsunade."
Sakura put the body in a storage scroll and when she was about to do the same with the sword, Yami stopped her and said "I have some use for the sword. Why don't you leave it to me?"
Sakura looked back at Kakashi for approval and he readily nodded. 'Yami won't ask for something out of the blue for no reason but I at least if I give him then he can tell me about it in the future.' Kakashi thought. He knew that even if he denied it now, Yami would ask the same thing to Tsunade later and after asking a few mild questions, she would hand it over anyways.
"I think we should take a rest and then continue with our journey. The storm will reach here in a few hours." Elder Chiyo said.
Kakashi looked at Guy and Yami who were the ones to expend most of their energy during the fight.
"No need to rest...we have already lost a lot of time." Guy said and Yami also nodded to his statement. Due to his chakra core, a fight of this level was not much taxing for him.
As the group continued their journey, they met with Pakkun within a few hours. Kakashi stopped beside Pakkun and asked "So what have you got for me Pakkun?"
Pakkun glanced at a big mountain nearby and said "Their smell stops at the foot of that mountain. It seems like they went inside. There is no scent of them coming out recently so your best bet is they are still inside."
"That is some good work Pakkun. I promise I will make it up to you and your friends Pakkun." Kakashi said to which Pakkun nodded and said "You better or else I know how to get even" and he disappeared in a puff of smoke.
"Now that we know where they are...let's bust in" Naruto said excitedly which made him receive a bonk on his head. "There are people here capable enough to make a plan so don't rush in blindly like the idiot you are." Sakura warned with her fiery eyes and temper.
