Chapter 2: Chapter 2 - Goblin?

*****

<Welcome to the Tower.>

A loud voice rang inside my head, I felt nauseous inside and felt my gut open up.

*Ough* I coughed, cleared my throat.... I was finally able to feel my body, I slowly opened my eyes and-

*The sound of birds, waterfall and animals filled the air, The air felt clearer to breathe, The colors felt alive, more alive than they have ever felt.*

I instantly thought to myself how some no named villager like me would ruin this paradise.

My shabby clothes, dirted with the farms I worked at, dripping with my sweat.

*Voosh*

A blue holographic looking screen opened in front of me.

"Ah." I slightly screamed in shock, This was something only the gods could be capable of, This is the first time I'm seeing something like this.... something is written on it?

<Choose skill>, The interface read... it had three playing cards on it and a line at the end of the interface read 'Only one can be chosen.'

So, The gods are giving me a gift now? How nice of them, I'm finally being blessed for my hardwork at the farm. I started celebrating a little and laughed a loud but just then, A clock hung in the air, it looked magical... but I knew the time was ticking as gods were known to be quite impatient, I immediately picked the middle card to not anger them anymore.

As soon as I touched the card, the interface vanished but the clock still ticked.

"<Unique skill - Duel misfortunes ×> Aquried." The voice that rang at the start again rang inside my head, but it didn't hurt me anymore.

Suddenly the clock stopped while pointing at the sun and a voice again rang inside my head.

"Safe zones disabled."

'Safe zones? isn't that what royalties use when holding meetings?' I thought to myself, royalties mostly used safe zones during any international meetings because in a safe zone nobody is allowed to fight, not even the one who casted the spell. It was one of the miracles goddess Amy granted to her pope.

I felt the stench of rotten meat hit me, I immediately covered my nose...

'Goblins!' I thought to myself, I had always loved in the village so I had rarely met monsters but goblins were one of the only monsters I had met, Their presence is easily noteable due to their body odor, As they never clean themselves and always indulge in anything and everything pleasurable they could find.

I felt my heart drop to my stomach, We had always been told by the elders in my village that the moment we sense a monster, it senses us too... I don't know how much of it is true but there's a clear clue as how I know the goblin has spotted me.

Tears started forming in my eyes as me and the goblin made eye contact, It stood there smiling, my legs felt heavy, The air which was sweet now felt as if it was choking me.

'Stay calm, stay calm.' I tried repeating to myself as the goblin started slowly walking towards me.

A memory of my dad saying "Just keep calm and even a dragon can be slain." rung inside my head but-

What the fuck dad, you never told me that monsters are so scary when they were alive.

The goblin clearly didn't see me as a threat and was walking very slowly towards me but I knew, if I tried to run, he could easily catch up.

I started looking around just waiting my death.

'Such a big tree.' I thought to myself looking at the tree just on my right hand side.

'Tree? Tree?' I thought to myself and my fear for some reason had started to wear off, The goblin now had a srowl on his face and started running towards me.

'Fuck, what did dad say about trees?' I thought to myself and instantly it hit me like a rock and I realised how stupid I was.

The goblin was screeching from down the tree while I was already sitting on the top of it.

'How did I not think of it?' Goblins aren't really known to have much intelligence or strength, The only reason we fear them is because they're very vicious and breed at an incredible rate.

*Thek* *Thek*

I felt the tree slightly move and the sound of the goblin went down... I looked down and saw that the goblin was climbing up the tree.

'I didn't know goblins can climb trees!' I knew that I was at an advantage if I get to knock him off or something.

Just as I was thinking that, The goblin grabbed my foot, he was a very fast climber... The goblin laughed in pure evil.

"Ahhhhhhhhhhh...." I screamed so loud even the goblin flinched, I felt my tears cover my eyes and-

*Vroom*

I slipped, The goblin just below me, his face looked panicked... 'Do monsters even have emotions like that?'

I closed my eyes as I knew what pain was gonna come.

*Crack*

The sound of cracking was heard, I had landed on the goblin so it had made my fall easier, It still hurt like hell though.

The sound of cracking was heard from the goblin, it seems he was quite unlucky, or it's just my fortune but a rock was just below his neck.

My breathing still unstable 'Is it dead?' I thought to myself and remember what my dad had told me "If you aren't sure whether a monster is dead or not, make sure it is." I had no idea why my dad knew all that information, my dad was a simple farmer after all but even against my better judgement of killing something, I picked up a big rock and-

*THUD* *THUD* *THUD*

The sound of the rock hitting the skull of the goblin ringed across the forest, I kept hitting his head... it now looked nothing like a head, something pink had been coming out of his head but after I kept hitting him, it also turned to moosh.

*Whizzing*

The sound of me whizzing could be heard as I slowly got up and started walking to the waterfall.

I saw the blue hologram open up, but I couldn't focus.

As soon as I reached the waterfall, I vomitted, 'Oh, gods, what have I done?' I thought to myself and continued vomitting at the side of the tree near the waterfall.

I felt myself calm down a little as I couldn't vomit anymore... I jumped into the waterfall.

....

After a nice bath, I took my clothes off and made a campfire from the nearby materials exactly has dad had taught me. I even made a stand near the campfire where I hung my clothes so they could dry before the night.

I still hadn't read what the screen had said because I was still scared if whether I was being punished or rewarded...

I looked around and found 3 squirrels and I captured them and cooked them on the flame and ate them. As I didn't have any spices or salt, They tasted almost inedible.

I felt the night creep it, I quickly wore my clothes and laid near the camp fire, I had decided to check the screen window on the dawn of tomorrow, Some tears fell from my eyes...

'Why am I here? Where is dad? Where is Sasha? Where is everyone else? What have I done? Do I deserve this? Am I dead? Is this punishment because I wasn't a faithful believer?'

Such weird thoughts plagued my mind and before I knew it, My tears had stopped and I fell asleep besides the only comfort I found here.

(A/N - He's referring to the campfire.)
