Chapter 10: Talk

Blood Castle, one of the most powerful and beautiful castles in the Solar Empire and home to all the descendants of the Duchy Flower has approximately 6 floors.

On the second floor, the throne room where the audience is held whenever the representative of the Duchy arrives while on the 4th and 5th floors are the rooms of the descendants residing in the castle.

As he walked down the corridor, Raimon thought of the twins who had come to fetch him.

They were completely crumpled and looked as if they were about to faint from the fright they had just had as if they had fallen into a beast's cage and had barely escaped with their lives.

"In my previous life, I used to wear the same expression every time I met my parents. I can imagine what those two went through."

Raimon hadn't heard the conversation between the twins and Raion, but he had an idea of what they had talked about.

Most likely the Duke asked them a question and the twins weren't able to give him a satisfactory answer.

"Well, it's understandable since they are still children".

This was how the Flowers raised their children.

No, this couldn't even qualify as education. Raion never raised a single child.

The people who raised the children within the family were the nannies and in extreme cases, the children's mother would participate in the education after leaving the Blood Castle.

All Raion and Dalia did was watch their children. They watched their children grow up and tried to determine which of them was more worthy to lead the family after their father.

Having important positions within the Solar Empire, they could not let their guard down in all their actions because if they did, the family could fall into disgrace.

Moreover, they would gradually become involved with their children only when they became adults and showed results that exceeded the "standard".

Therefore, Raion's arrival at Castle Blood had become a great event because of the rarity itself.

The other gentlemen waiting in the lobby were dying to know what was going on inside the throne room.

Pass, pass.

Raimon could finally see the throne. The Duke was seated, awaiting his arrival. He walked carefully towards Raion as the events of his past life flashed through his head and his etiquette classes.

Duke Flower.

"The strongest person I've ever seen, but also the calmest person I've ever met."

His mother, Dalia Flower, had a certain human and loving aspect from the fragmented memories about the day he arrived in this world.

Raion, however, was different.

He still had some human aspects, such as wiggling his eyebrows when he got angry or smiling slightly when he found something amusing.

Raion had also heard from the guardian knights that when Raion was younger and had not yet become a patriarch, he could get frustrated, rejoice and also fight for his life.

However, when he almost reached the demigod realm and became the second most powerful person in the Duchy after my grandfather, those emotions slowly faded away. All that remained within him was an unconditional concern for the development of the family.

It's a funny story if you think about it. Even though he is about to reach the realm of the demigods, he still protects the family, unlike the previous Duke who since passing his position to his son stopped asking about family matters. Only events such as the possible breaking of the family curse could cause him emotional fluctuations.

Raimon gritted his teeth so hard he could hear them grinding, he was tired of having to live in this kind of family again.

However, he couldn't keep acting like this. Raion would notice. There was no way he wouldn't notice that his eldest son was grinding his teeth as soon as he saw him.

"He may be my father, but I will make sure that no one can despise me in this life".

Raimon knelt before Raion as he swore this to himself, and saluted him.

"Greetings to the Duke."

He was behaving like the adults of the family who had long since left Castle Blood. He was greeting Raion not as his eldest son, but as a member of the Duchy.

Raion nodded in satisfaction and turned to his son.

"Why did you call me 'Duke' instead of 'father'?"

Raimon pretended to ponder for a while. He had already anticipated Raion's reaction to his greeting.

"The guardian knights, numbering over a hundred, returned to this castle to welcome you. So I gathered that the patriarch's visit to the castle was formal."

Raion's eyes widened.

"Excellent!"

Raimon did not respond to his father's exclamation and lowered his head slightly to show his gratitude.

Although it was unthinkable for a six-year-old to show such impressive manners, Raion did not suspect anything or hesitate. He merely believed that Reineza had raised Raimon correctly and that his son had great insight, just as he had passed the test of the ritual alone.

However, Raion was not a real six-year-old boy. He had the mind of an adult from his past life. Raion was unaware of that fact, even though he was about to reach the realm of the demigods.

As he looked at his son with an absent air, Raion spoke again.

"A moment ago I asked your brothers what mistake they had made. They were unable to answer my question."

"Yes, Duke."

"However, I feel I must try to ask you that same question. What mistake did Shin and Masamune make?"

Once again, Raimon pretended to think to himself. He had somewhat foreseen the conversation going in this direction so he did not feel uneasy.

No. In fact, he had completely predicted this outcome because Raion would not hesitate to treat his sick children like war veterans who have been through countless hardships.

The answer Raion wanted to hear was already decided from the beginning.

"It's revenge."

"Hm!"

Raion's large eyes flashed with astonishment. As he sat in silence for a few seconds, Raimon explained his earlier answer.

"My brothers should have tried to take revenge on me. A Flower should always repay what he owes another, whether it be a favor or a grudge."

There was silence.

Raimon was sure that this lack of reaction from his father was synonymous with satisfaction.
