Chapter 24: Chapter 24 - Training

Irene Pendragon POV:
I kept feeding Valier, he looked to be extremely tired. Even though he normally looks like this emotionless edge lord, right now he just looks like a cute kid who needs to rest. I couldn't help but smile from ear to ear, I felt this sense of fulfilment when I took care of him like this.
From now on, I would try to be the best sister I could be for him. From now on, I'll try to be a better person. No, I won't just 'try', I'll do it, I'll become a person who my younger siblings can look up to and ask for help.
"Erm, Irene, you've been staring at the pancakes for a while now. Do you want one that badly?"
Breaking me out my thoughts, Valier spoke up. My face went red due to embrassment I felt, I looked down at the plate and just kept feeding him. Once I recovered from my embarrassment, I looked at him, he was smiling ear to ear.
Once I had finished feeding him, I took him upstairs and got the maids to prepare some water and a towel. Since he's had some awful interactions with maids, I'm guessing he'd feel uncomfortable to be taken care of by them when he's in this vulnerable state. So, I as his older sister will take care of him.
I had someone bring me a chair and I sat down on it, I soaked the face towel into the water and then I gently placed it onto his head once I had neatly folded it into a rectangle. Within a few moments he was fast asleep.
I looked at him and smiled, he seemed to be sleeping comfortably.
My eyes widened in confusion as I felt this... strange feeling. When I looked at him, I felt so warm and full. It reminded me of when I was younger, I had a Teddy bear that I'd hold onto. If I had that with me, I felt warm and fuzzy. Looking at him right now, I feel that exact same way; warm and fuzzy.
'Maybe I should arrange a time for all three of us to have some fun together. Maybe a picnic? Or maybe we could go have a walk around the territory?'
Valier Pendragon POV:
It's been a few days since the war began, and I'm currently training my body. My goal is to create a physique that can fully withstand the force of 'Demon's Breath.' I've also been training with Cursed Energy, and now I can use my 'Demonic Eyes' but only for a few moments, it strains my eyed quite a lot so I only use it for very short periods of time. I mainly use it to view my own muscle composition and to optimise my training. And I've also used it to alter 'Demon's Breath' to fully suit my physique.
My Demonic Eyes allow me to see Mana, it's flow and it's attribute. I can also see the muscle and bone compositions of others, since I can see the muscle compositions of others, I can more or less use that to predict their next move since I can see what muscles contract and which ones relax. It's a pretty annoying thing to do, but Valier was able to use his Demonic Eyes at all times and he could passively read his opponents movements. If he was able to do that, then it stands to reason that I too should be able to do so.
I got into a cross legged position and started circulating Cursed Energy within my body, it was impossible for me to use Mana and Cursed Energy at the same time though. Well for now, using both energies at once would be like moving my left arm forward and moving my right arm backwards. Not an impossible task, but a difficult one. The feeling of circulating Cursed Energy within your body feels completely different to when I'm circulating Mana throughout my body. And due to my Demon Seed being rather small, I can't produce much Cursed Energy.
But the principle for growing my Cursed Energy stores is the same as growing Mana Capacity, expend it all and let it come back. Its also worth noting that Cursed Energy isn't absorbed and refined from the atmosphere, it's produced within the body by the Demon Seed.
The Demonic Seed is supposed sprout 'roots' throughout the body, and as time goes on you become closer and closer to becoming an actual Demon. The roots it sprouts are channels for Cursed Energy. Cursed Energy can be used for things similar to Mana, like physical enhancement but it's more just for powering your Demonic Abilities. But, if you're able to flow both Mana and Cursed Energy at the same time, you can create a 'Cursed Attribute.' It's basically what it sounds like, fusing your magic with Cursed Energy to create a spell of a higher level.
The original Valier couldn't do that though, he wasn't weak but he wasn't as strong as the top tier Demon Bloods. His main strength was that the Pendragon sisters weren't able to fight him, they both couldn't take part in the fight as they were crushed by their overwhelming guilt. And it wasn't like he was born 'evil' like some of the other antagonists, he was just born in a messed up world. So, the fight was more emotional than anything. Because when they were fighting Valier, they weren't fighting evil. They were facing a person who was a victim to it.
But anyways, moving on. The thing that made the higher tier Demon Bloods so strong was the fact that they could use Demonic Energy. By fusing their Mana Cores, their Demon Seeds and their hearts. They could create a Demon Heart. A Demon Heart, or Demonic Heart, is something that produces Demonic Energy. Once you unlock your Demonic Heart, you're more or less an actual Demon. The Demonification process isn't always a success and your body may end up self destructing. But I'll cross that bridge when I come to it.
Right now, my main goal is unlocking a Cursed Attribute. My first goal is to unlock a Cursed Attribute, that may take quite a while though. I'd like to unlock a Cursed Attribute before we go through the Rune Awakening Ceremony. There's no guarantee that I'll get a Rune. Valier didn't get one. And unlike everything else, Rune's don't manifest in a person even if they're monstrously talented. No one knows the criteria to become a Rune Bearer, but if you don't get one, you don't get one.
Now, it's not like I need a Rune. But, I really want one, it's not like current abilities are bad. But they're a bit underwhelming when compared to my previous Corruption Attribute.
I sighed and just kept trying to expend all of my Cursed Energy. This body wasn't gonna train itself after all.
