Chapter 11: Kingdom Tournament
Raising her head abruptly, Rosella saw her cold and alluring Eldest Royal Brother watching her apathetically.
Those eyes do not give any form of feelings, only indifference and coldness.
She did not care about her appearance or her dizziness. She got up from the bed and gave him the corresponding obeisance.
The reverence all royal family members give to the oldest one.
She smiled faintly, neither servile nor overbearing. Like a sensible, obedient, and well-mannered child spoke.
"The Eldest Royal Brother. It's a joyous occasion to see you here. What can I do for you?" Rosella's upbringing did not allow her to disrespect the royal customs.
Even if the King and Oldest Queen favor her, it did not mean she'll grow up rebellious.
The meaning behind Rosella's words is clear.
Although in her words, she was happy to see him, her actions and expression did not seem happy. Due to the fact that she knows he comes with a purpose.
Nicholas Cullen, Cullen Kingdom, First Prince. This year, he's 26 years old.
He was a male model, and the fairer sex adored him for his dark blond hair and almond-shaped dark deep blue eyes. Constantly holding a gleam of disdain in his eyes.
His crescent eyebrows were thin and narrow. He carried an imperious nose well and his angular cheekbones carved down towards his jawline. He looked manly but had the grace of a smooth jade.
His every move, screams grace, pride, and coldness.
Having been born as the Eldest, his pride is higher than any other prince or princess. He was raised as the 'heir' to the throne, but never was called Crown Prince. And this is resentment in his heart.
He had never put his younger royal siblings in his eyes. For him, they're only replacements and not needed trash in the royal bloodline.
Because he had a different shade of blond, he always felt different, like it destined him to reach greater heights. That was, until Rosella was born.
After she was born, he becomes colder and his arrogance reached a new level. Not wanting to give up his right to the throne, he always tries to make Rosella feel inferior or become a shameful thing in front of the subjects.
And she knows. But Rosella's smartness made her survive. The 'love' given to her by the King and Oldest Queen 'saves' her in many ways.
"Royal Father told me to convey his decree…" with a deep voice, he looked at Rosella meaningfully.
"Please do tell, to let the Eldest Royal Brother come in person, it seems it is exceptionally important." Rosella encourages him to continue.
"The Royal Tournament is close. The pre-selection for the Kingdom Tournament is taking place. You'll have a direct spot. This will be the last time you take part in both tournaments. Give the Royal Family some face and bring back the championship."
When he said his part, he turned around and left without an ounce of melancholy or any other emotion.
Rosella saw his back retreating and sighed in relief.
"I've to prepare. If this is my last time taking part, it only means…" she did not finish her words, but she's certain as to why.
But, if the Golden Lady's words were true, she had to wait for him.
She can't forget those purple eyes, seeing her with tender emotions. Those softly and warm eyes made her heart melt.
'I hope you can come before that happens. If not… I can't delay the Royal decree.' Murmured in her heart.
Lulu and Luca, the two Spirit King, are the only Sacred Spirit awake. Felt the emotions of their master. They knew some things that can't be told, and some things their master had to discover for herself, and their hearts constricted from those emotions.
'Luca…' Lulu murmured in a space where only the two of them can speak.
'What is it?' Luca answered. He knows what she wants to ask, but he let her speak.
'Do you think 'HE' will come after or before the Royal Tournament?'
Luca fell silent.
They knew the difference.
The Royal Tournament's based on an internal tournament in the Cullen Kingdom. Every five years, the tournament takes place and only the strongest of the strongest can take part. If you advance to the finals, you can take part in the Kingdom Tournament next year, in which they will represent the Cullen Kingdom in front of the other nine kingdoms.
They vote for the member taking part in the Kingdom Tournament to fight for the Princess's hand in marriage. But for Rosella, only the Champion in the Kingdom Tournament can become her husband.
Joseph Cullen, the current King, had raised the motion to move forward the tournament for two years. Rosella has just turned 18 years old, and it takes two years to end both tournaments.
The Cullen King did not want his daughter to marry when turning 22 years old. And no one knows why…
Rosella always thought, she will find love, and when she found it, it seems so far away.
'Maybe… HE will take part in the tournament. He'll represent his kingdom. But I don't know if he'll take part in the Royal tournament.' Murmured Luca to Lulu.
Rosella had taken part in the last tournament; she was only in her 15 and 16 years old. And she never saw that person, which means that he was not in his kingdom. But they saw each other. The only outcome is that he will take part in this year.
Luca and Lulu are twin King Spirits. They woke up when Rosella was born. They formed a soul contract with her because her soul is pure and her talent and magic is high. So, they've been with her since she took her first breath, and know her better than anyone else.
Rosella felt something tighten her heart. And knowing where it came from, she reassures them.
'It's alright. He might come. Something is telling me that he will come and make his vow in an unforgettable style.' Rosella smiled and say no more.
The twins understood. The bond between them is absolute proof of the promise and their love for each other.
Rosella did not know that her heart trusted that man so much that she could even give her life for him. And when she understood her love, she regretted not paying attention to the things from the past.
