Chapter 3: CHAPTER 2
-MILA LYNN POV-
Luckily I got the work here at Dock's diner, it will certainly help with a few bills. Dad is a drunk and gamble's all our money away, mom works as a cleaner here at Dock's and together we wish that life can get better. Dad abuses mom and me, but mom doesn't know dad hurts me and most times I think of ending it all for good but when I get here at work I look at the most beautiful view of the ocean and I decide against it. Mom works daily just like me but sometimes we have a day or two off, like tonight is my shift but Clara my fellow employee asked if we could switch because the big boss is coming tonight with his super hot girlfriend so needless to say I switched with her. Mom is doing some final cleaning and then she is heading home along with me, I see mom is bit sick throwing up and she is so tired so I offered to make dinner tonight which she accepted gladly.
"Hey Mila Lynn it's going to be a quiet night so why don't you and your mom head on home it's freezing outside" Blake the manager came and gave us a pass, wow thank you so much Mr Smith. "Blake please, come I will give you two a ride". We got our stuff and Blake dropped us at home, he looked so uncomfortable when he saw dad standing up at the porch. He greeted dad and dad just glared at him, oh great I am going to loose this job with dad being a baby I thought to myself. Mom and I was so scared when we got in the house because dad was at boiling point and he's hungry. I quickly made spaghetti and meatballs just to be smacked across the face landing against the table, I swear a few of my ribs cracked but I stood up and clean up the mess dad made. Mom was in the toilet when he hit me, she came back and looked a bit shocked. He was telling mom what piece of trash I am and he is going to kill me one day. Mom smiled sympathetically at me and I was stunned at her next words to us, " I am 2 months pregnant". Dad was overjoyed and laughter spills out of him, I was near tears from sadness and worries. I went up the stairs and shower quickly, then I got into bed and sleeped.
Around 10pm my cell phone rang and I saw its Blake, oh no here it comes I thought. Hello? "Mila Lynn sorry to bother you, just want to know is everything okay?" Yes sir thank you I lied, "oh there is a meeting in a week with the boss but we can talk tomorrow goodnight Mila Lynn" goodnight Mr Smith, and I rang down. Well then no more sleeping for me, I went down and saw mom laying on the ground with a bloody face, oh my goodness mom! "Hunny calm down help me up please, I need some water." I helped mom and got her into bed, while cleaning her wounds I knew she can't go into work tomorrow. Mom? "Hmmm?" Why? Why do we still stay? I love him baby and he's your father", though the way she said it sounded more like she was trying to convince herself. I hated him all my life, and now he is hurting mom even more when he knows she is pregnant what an asshole of a man. So we went to sleep and morning broke, I got up at 5 and made his breakfast consisting out of eggs, toast, tamatoes, cheese and meat along with coffee. Then I went to college where I study psychology and nursing my last year. I got into college at 16, because I was advanced and further than the grades I should be in. After college I quickly jogged home and freshen up for my shift at Dock's, mom's already at work, walking in I saw Blake and he was telling another man something. When he saw me he smiled and the other man turned around looked at me with a lot of curiosity and half smiled. Clara came out smiling and tossing me my apron, I catch it but forgot about my ribs I sucked in a breath at the pain and limped to the kitchen not noticing the two men looking at me worriedly. I got into action quickly and around 10pm Blake called me to the office, "Mila Lynn sorry for keeping you but are you doing okay? You seem to be in pain". Oh I am sorry Mr Smith I fell last night getting out of the bath I am good thank you. "Hmm very well then, next Friday our boss Mr Valen will be here for a meeting with us as staff, please let me know if you need a ride home". Thank you Mr Smith I will do so, is that all? I need to help Clara with cashing up. "That's all, I will wait for you and your mom then I can drop you off". Thank you so much Mr Smith. I can't wait to get home and snuggle into bed.
Mom came to talk to Blake, probably telling him about her pregnancy. I wonder how are we going to cope without mom working and only me bringing in salary. The phone rang and I picked up Hello? Dock's diner how can I help? There's only breathing at the other end of the phone and the hair on my neck stands up. Hello? suddenly the line went dead and I see the man from earlier that was with Blake is starring at me expectantly. Sorry sir can I help? "No thank you miss I am waiting on Mr Smith". I nodded and started cashing up, Clara raved about how sexy our boss is and she won't mind to be his girlfriend. I just nodded but thinking about the phone call earlier. Who was that?
