Chapter 146: Explanation

Anna bit her lips as she waited for Lexus to hit her. But what came instead was a gentle caress to her cheek and an arm around her waist.

"Why are you trembling like that? Anna, I'm not going to hit you. Have I ever hit you before? I won't do that," Lexus said in a now gentler voice and Anna cried even more.

In relief perhaps? She doesn't know anymore.

"I'm sorry I raised my voice. I didn't mean to yell at you like that," Lexus embraced her and she sobbed on his chest. She didn't even want to be in his arms right now and yet she couldn't push him away. She hadn't seen him in three days and he had been busy the days before that so she actually missed him.

'Why? Why do I still long for his embrace even though he already betrayed me?! Why does it still feel so warm to be held by him like this?'
