Chapter 204: Facing the Camazotz

Cora was panting in the hallway on her hands and knees, eyes squeezed shut as everything that had just occurred echoed in her mind. The blood, the Camazotz, Ambrosia holding her under the surface of the pool until she thought she would surely drown, the screams of the dying vampires… 

They were still screaming. It was such a terrible sound. 

A shiver skittered up her spine with the realization that she was not safe. Not even close. If any of them who were living came to terms with their beating hearts and managed to escape that room, they were definitely coming for her. 

Just as the thought occurred to her, Grayson and Zane came rushing through the doors, Grayson helping her up and backing away from the ritual room with what could only be described as pure terror in his eyes. 

"Hurry," he said, "they are here." 

"Who?" She asked, the question dying in her throat when she saw the first one stalk through the doors.
