Chapter 13: Shadow Knights

Clark was of course aware of Vincent's sharp gaze and was filled with determination. The king has indeed changed, and he is very happy about it.

Calrk exchanged information with someone who covered himself with the cloak. What turned out to be the person was Newt Hambram, the commander of the black knight. After Newt told Clark, Clark immediately came to Vincent's side again.

"Is there anything important, Clark?" asked Vincent, who had actually guessed what Clark and Newt had been talking about for a while.

"Yes, my King." Clark approached Vincent and then whispered near his ear, "the one you want is readily available. The four of them have already gathered, not far from this location of ours. You can meet them at this time."

Hearing Clark's confirmation, Vincent smiled faintly. His smile was more like a smirk, and he nodded his head.

"Well, take me there." said Vincent in a whisper as well.

"Okay, Your Majesty!"

Clark glanced at Newt who was still standing not far from them. While Vincent gestured with a small hand gesture for the knight commander to come closer.

Realizing the call gesture from the king, Newt rushed to King Vincent. He gave a perfunctory salute as Vincent shook off his hand, as if telling Newt to ignore manners for a moment. Vincent didn't want to be noticed by others and their disguise was exposed instead.

Lily, who had been paying attention in the other direction when Vincent and Clark were talking, now joined them. She noticed the captain of the black knight who was suddenly already there.

[Why does Big Brother's face look serious?]

Lily asked in her heart. She watched Vincent for a moment, before her brother turned to look at her and smiled softly as usual.

"Lily, I'm sorry, but I have to go for a while to check something. Can you wait to eat there? The Commander of the Black Knights, Newt, here will accompany you," Vincent said, apologizing.

Lily actually wanted to protest, but she understood that her brother was a king, who was very busy taking care of many things about their kingdom.

[I should be grateful that Big Brother has taken his time to take me to enjoy this festival. I must not be a burden of thought for him.]

Lily also nodded and hugged her Brother's arm, "I'll wait. Brother, be careful."

"yes, definitely." Vincent had a gentle expression on his face, completely different from his sharp gaze some time ago. He raised his hand, and stroked Lily's head before turning away and talking to Newt.

"Take care of my sister," the young King ordered.

Newt nodded firmly. He was happy to be able to see the familiarity of these two sibling, especially the king's extremely gentle expression when facing his younger sister.

And deep in his heart, Newt was also amazed at how Vincent began to show a change in attitude that he had never expected before.

"Then, I'm leaving." Vincent and Clark immediately left the place.

The two high-ranking figures in the Dragonhart Kingdom walked without attracting the attention of the crowd, blending in with the residents who were also enjoying the atmosphere of a very lively festival.

A few minutes into the walk, they came near an inn whose area was a bit secluded. Faintly there was still the excitement of the knight festival behind there. Vincent and Clark entered a three-story building made of very sturdy wood.

The building was an inn, which doubled as a bar and a place to eat. Vincent saw four people dressed as ordinary people, sitting at a table in the corner of the bar. The young king could immediately know that they were the people he was about to meet.

On the other side, Pells, Jack, Edon, and Rob were talking nervously. After the knight's match officially ended that day, there was a knight who met the four personally, and now had them gather here to meet the most important person in the Dragonhart Kingdom.

The knight who met them was none other than Newt, who got Clark's special order.

"Are you guys the one I'm looking for?" The question from Vincent immediately made the four ordinary young men startled.

Pells, Jack, Edon, and Rob immediately stood up to salute. Although at this time the king was wearing a disguise, his voice could still be recognized by them. Especially for Pells, who once went head-to-head with Vincent Dragonhart. The appearance of the king in front of him made him even more amazed.

It turns out that King Vincent is indeed not the mentally shrunken nerd as once rumored!

"Greetings to the light of the imperial sun, King Vincent Dragonhart!" They compactly greet noisily, not wanting to attract the attention of others.

Vincent nodded briefly, he watched around. Fortunately, this bar is in full swing, so no one pays attention to them. It made him relieved. It could be serious if someone else came to know that secretly the king met four commoners. All kinds of rumors about him can be spread, and what's worse, his secret plan may be able to be sniffed by someone. Of course Vincent didn't want that to happen.

"Your Majesty, we have prepared a room upstairs for us to talk about," Pells said cautiously.

Although it looks amiable, the figure in front of him is the king, people can't behave carelessly in front of him.

"Well," replied the king.

However, as they moved on to show him the room on the second floor, Vincent thought of something else. Maybe it would be better if they talked here, their voices would be disguised by the commotion of the people. In one glance, he knew that everyone in the middle bar was drunk and feasting. No one will eavesdrop on their talk.

"We're talking here. This hubbub will disguise our conversation," he said in a low voice. Vincent doesn't need to explain too many things here anyway, he only needs to recruit the four of them. The rest will be taken care of by Clark and Newt.

The four knights nodded obediently. Pells allowed Vincent to occupy his seat, while he stood beside Clark.

"It seems that you guys know what I came to see you guys here for." Vincent opened the conversation, as he placed his hands on the table.

His now brown eyes stared at the glasses and bottles of liquor on the table. Then turned to staring at the four knights he recruited.

"I recruited you guys into a shadow knights, under my direct command. You will be trained by Clark and Newt in secret, and devote your lives to the me."

Pells, Jack, Edon, and Rob fell silent. The agency appeared on their faces. Vincent's calm but firm voice made the four get goose bumps all over.

They will be special forces kept secret from the public! Isn't this a very rare opportunity?

Seeing that his four knights were silent, the corners of Vincent's lips raised to make a sharp smile. "Do you mind,  my brave knight?" the king asked.

"We are willing, Your Majesty! We will devote life and death just to you!"

In this way, Vincent also received an oath of allegiance from his new subordinates.

[There's only a little bit left. I can, I will change the future!]

The young king became more and more excited. His strongly clenched hands he hid under the table. Vincent nodded at the four people before him.

They parted ways after toasting to celebrate the inauguration of the first four members of the shadow knights. Although it was just a sip of low-quality alcohol there, Vincent was very happy that night.

It's a good night. He will change his unfortunate destiny in the future.
