Chapter 4: WE ARE DEAD
Alin climbed silently on her bed and covered herself with the warm blanket after having her sweet super. She wanted to leave and start her own life but how possible was it? Even though her guts were telling her to stay in Bashir City, another side of her was against. She wondered if she was in the right place but all she wanted right now was money to take her back in Yhir City.
As she tries to close her eyes and welcome the sleep, another thought bang inside her mind. ' How possible did l reach Bashir City? Does someone wants me to be far away from my dad's business or....?' she whispered scratching at the back of her head her eyes staring at the silent ceiling.
' Uhhh! What if Jake is one of my father's allies and he has the duty to protect me? What if he wants to use me just to take my dad's company? Could it be possible he knows my family? No, it can't be, I'll have to figure out by myself. I can't afford to see my dad's soul cursing me there underground for not taking over his properties.'
As the time click, the thoughts in her head had already vanished and was now drown into a heavy sleep. The night was silent with only the stars singing the glorious melodies. After what seemed like hours, she started dreaming. Her mother was trying to rescue her from ruthless people but since she was surrounded by unknown creatures, the voice of her mother couldn't reach her. The place was covered with noise and the only thing that she could see was her mother's tears.
' No, no, mooom, mooom don't leave me again. Where are you going? She cried struggling with the blanket.
' Leave me. You bunch of traitors. You threatened my dad now you want me, huh? Leave me. Daaad! mooom! Where are you guys going, you can't just leave me?' She shouted still holding the blanket tightly.
' Alin.... Alin.... Alin are you alright? Someone called shaking her continuously.
' Hmmm! Hmmmm! Mom, mom Ahhhhh! Please.....co...come...back....'
' Alin, what's wrong? Jake asked dragging her in his arms then for a moment she woke up sweating continuously.
' Mhhhh! Whaaat! Jake.....' she quickly disengaged wiping the sweat from her forehead.'
' What's wrong? Were you having nightmares again? He asked cupping her cheeks.
' Again? Have l ever had it before? She confusingly asked.'
' Aahhh! Ummm..... I mean..... Ahhhhh! He struggled to fix some words but he couldn't.'
' What's the time?
' It's two forty five.' he replied checking on the wall clock.'
' Huh! Do you have some water?
' Yeah! He quickly ran downstairs and after some minutes he came back with a glass of water which she gulped immediately as he stare at her with a sad face.
' Don't give me that look, l don't like to be pitied? She said staring at him.'
' I am not? I just wondered what if the water you just took has got some poison and you haven't notice.' he joked smiling.
' Ahhhh! You jerk! Ohooohh! Ahhhhh! I didn't know you're a murderer under someone's else appearance.' she said trying to puke out the water.
' Haahhhh! I tricked you again. See eehh if l want to kill you, l would have done long time ago. That's why l told you you need to be more careful with the one's you get along with.'
' Jaaakeee!
' Whaaaat!
' No wonder your name sounds as jerk. Cause you are... Jeez, can't even find the words to describe you.'
' Ahaa! That's who l am. Serious few seconds, then joker. Anyway, have you ever thought why your dad was a white man and your mom was a black lady?
' No, why? Anything serious?
' Noooo, it seems that you took all your mom's colour and behavior. But a little bit colour of your dad's.' he said pinching her nose.
' No wonder you are a real fool. Now out of my room, now! She shouted driving him away.'
' Heeey, you can't just throw me outside like a sack. Are you...
' Shush! Bye bye. Next time knock. I don't want you to go blind cause of something you could have prevented.'
' Aliiin, am l already not blind? See, have close my eyes,' he responded his hands covering his face.'
' Humph! You are a troublesome human. Jeez, this human? She murmured closing the door behind him.'
' I have heard you Alin.'
' Jake out of my door, go away, it's still dark, are you a cork. Do you wanna cork that's why you're disturbing me?
' Coooo, cooooorikoooo,' he caw loudly on her door making her to open furiously.'
The moment she opened the door, her body slammed on his both of them landing on the cold floor. She had no idea how or when it happened but all she saw was her being in somebody's else arms as they lock eyes. The tention in the house was as calm as the silent sky, as they all feel each other's breath.
'' Ahhh! Sorry l didn't mean to, ahhh! Sorry? She apologized standing immediately wiping the dust from her trouser. She stared at him once more then rushed back to her room slamming on the bed, as sleep takes over her.

' Goooood morning? Benzyl greeted coming closer to the dining hall.'
' Morning too brother...' they all greeted back but Benzyl gave them a cold stare.
' l didn't greet anyone of you. That greeting was supposed to be for Nanny Ella. I wonder with some morons.' he scoffed taking his seat leaving them in surprise.'
' Brother, are you this mean? Bean asked glancing at him.
' No, am that serious.
' Are you serious brother? Benny asked too not believing with his sudden mood change.'
' No, am Benzyl Terry.' his reply was short and direct making them not to ask any other questions but after some seconds Bean broke the silence.'
' Ahhh! Ohhoooh! Wiiiiiiuuuuu! Ahhhhh!' he cleared his throat trying to get their attention.
' Speak, hope it's something reasonable.' Benzyl shouted taking another sip.
' Ahhh! Brother Ben, you see...
' It's big brother Benzyl from today. No more short cuts, l never said l was blind before again.' he announced surprising them.
' Whaaaat! They all echoed.
' That's it. If you find it being too difficult then don't call me cause l won't reply.'
' Bean, l want you to write down my name's a million times in your hand so that next time you won't forget it.' he said then stormed outside with his laptop bag leaving them in thoughts.
' Did he get dumbed in his sleep or.....
' No, nothing like that. And you Bailey for saying getting dumbed in the middle of my sleep, you'll help Nanny to cook supper. And l mean it. And you Benny for shutting your mouth and pretending to be so serious you'll have to clean the compound, no office work today, I'll be back in a jiffy, hope to find everything as l have instructed. If you don't, my camera is there watching you all.' he instructed walking out.
' Brooother! What's wrong with him today? Is he okay or....' Bailey cried leaning on his chair.
' No, he's hallucinating.'
' You idiot, it's not hallucinating Bean. I gause he needs a psychiatrist. We should call one for him.' Benny shouted but when his eyes turned towards the door, he froze instantly.
' Who is hallucinating and who needs a psychiatrist?' Benzyl was there sitting on a stool near the door watching them with a magazine on his hand, his eyes burning in anger as he spoke.'
' We are dead? They all murmured unable to move.'
