Chapter 17: LIU WEI’S FATHER IS INTERESTED IN A FUTURE MARRIAGE
Liu Wei stayed a long time talking to Mrs Chun and even Anna was with them.
They laughed and chatted happily about a number of subjects, and many mainly involved the subject of children.
Liu Wei wasn't particularly a woman who dreamed of having children, it was never a wish… But she was young, that was something for later. Right?!
Anna always dreamed of becoming a mother, but work and age did not allow for a pregnancy and her wife was unable to conceive even in treatment for a few years. She was already starting to think in her heart that maybe it wasn't her destiny to be a mother.
The princess had a bitter feeling every time Anna talked about it, if anyone in this world should be a mother and would probably be the best mother in the world it was Anna.
Dusk and twilight were present quickly. Dinner was already close.
Anna went to her rooms to enjoy the rest of the day off and Liu Wei went to the dining room, only Li Zhang was present at the table and ate alone.
The young princess decided to join her.
She sat in one of several empty chairs next to another omega and watched one of the maids set a plate for her.
"Today is so empty."
Li Zhang smiled kindly, they had a good relationship.
"Yes, they had to rush back to their countries or they simply chose to eat in their rooms."
It made sense for some of the Blood Spring participants to return to their countries, many were active in the administration or politics of their territories. The work didn't stop just because they were in Wang's country.
"I will accompany you to this meal."
"Thank you Liu Wei… How was her meeting the queen?"
As everyone was busy or tired, the Sabbath had been set as a free day for everyone. There were still two stages ahead, so every rest was welcome.
Liu Wei smiled. "We went to a picnic."
Li Zhang was someone who got carried away easily. He loved to talk about any kind of subject. "Really? I did something similar."
"Yes, I discovered a house nearby and took it. I made all the food. It was really good…"
Liu Wei noticed the admiring gaze towards her.
"Can you cook? I wish I had time to learn."
"I can teach you to do something simple."
Li Zhang seemed really excited about the idea of learning to cook. Really funny. Liu Wei laughed in her heart.
"I want to! I spend most of my day writing, I barely have time for other activities."
"It must be complicated, you're also the head of the Li family, right?"
"Yes. But I share part of the responsibilities, I can't take care of everything, and you in Martana do something?"
"I was just in college."
"Really? Of what?"
'Art. But I dropped out to come here.'
Li Zhang nodded, she understood well the importance of Martana's presence at that event.
Liu Wei was very young and had a great future ahead of him, college was a small step.
"We're almost halfway through Bloody Spring, it'll be over soon…"
"Yea…"
Both were thoughtful.
Li Zhang thought how strange it would be to go back to the old routine after being able to see the queen almost every day.
Liu Wei, meanwhile, thought about how she would continue her life if she really was chosen by the queen.
She would drop her country and all the ideas she had for the future. She sighed thoughtfully.
"I'm going to miss seeing the queen every day, I wish she would choose me... But it's really hard to choose an omega."
Liu Wei knew this wasn't really true… After all, she and the queen were having an affair.
"You don't think it's possible?"
"I heard that she and Yang Fan are very close, I saw some employees gossiping about how romantic their meeting was... They went diving in the high seas."
"I see…"
Liu Wei could feel the food turning sour in her mouth.. Yes, that was the taste of jealousy. So disagreeable.
She couldn't help but feel uncomfortable. She munched on her food while Li Zhang changed the subject and commented on a new novel she was writing.
Wang Zheng was waiting for Hui Xu and was impatient to see that the omega was too late.
She felt drowsy and her head ached lightly.
She had drunk a lot of wine the night before and the hangover took longer than expected to finally stop bothering her.
Huan Yang had gone to get the queen something to eat, she had eaten nothing more than a couple of fruits with some water.
Wang Zheng always ate very badly after drinking, when banquets and festivals took place it was really troublesome to deal with his lack of appetite. Knowing this, her secretary was already in the kitchen looking for something that would interest the queen a little and make her eat.
Huan Yang appeared again in the office with a tray and from afar it was already possible to see the teapot with tea and a cloche that covered one of the dishes.
"Your majesty, Mistress Chun specially requested that I send this…"
"What is?"
The queen pushed her papers away from the table to make room for the food and finally saw what lay beneath the cloche.
There was a fat slice of the strawberry cake that Liu Wei had made for the two of them to eat at the picnic.
"I mentioned to Miss Chun that Your Majesty was lacking in appetite and she said that Liu Wei had baked three identical cakes and that one of them still had a slice left over… I hope you don't mind eating anything other than fresh…"
The omega felt a little happier to see that pile of cream and strawberries piled up.
The alpha smiled at the queen's excited reaction to the piece of cake.
"If Liu Wei made the cake, it must still be very tasty. It was in the fridge, right?"
"Right."
"Was Liu Wei there?"
"No, she's in the dining room with Li Zhang…"
"I understand…"
Wang Zheng was silent as she heard the phone on his desk ringing. Huan Yang answered promptly and in a few seconds he thanked and hung up.
"Sir Hui Xu has arrived."
The queen took a deep breath, not wanting to spoil her appetite.
"Leave the food, I'll talk to him first."
Huan Yang nodded and soon the entire tray was covered and placed on a small table in the corner of the office.
There were two knocks on the door before any royal servant opened it.
A thin, slender man dressed in a fine suit and silk blouse made his presence felt.
The strong scent of sweet grass was present in the environment. So strong as to make Wang Zheng want to vomit.
He smiles at Wang Zheng and she tries to do the same. "Good night my Dear."
Wang Zheng just nodded and motioned for him to sit next to her.
"How you doing? I hear you've had a busy week with Blood Spring. "
"Well, maybe I'll take two days off after the event, but nothing out of the ordinary… What do I owe your visit to?"
He stroked his white beard, was intrigued by the way the queen was speaking.
"I heard that yesterday was the last day of the first phase, I think your majesty should already have an idea of which alpha is most appropriate for the realm."
"I got a sense of what alphas, omegas and beta are like."
The man made a funny expression. He wasn't interested in the betas or omegas.
"No, no… your majesty shouldn't waste time on the beta, let alone the omegas… I believe that Chen Fu is the best option among the candidates."
Hiu Xu already suspected that he would support the alpha. Chen Fu was his nephew.
Hiu Xu was married to an alpha and she was Chen Fu's mother's sister.
"Why do you think that?"
The man stroked his beard and looked thoughtful for a few seconds, but then he smiled broadly.
"He is already at a good age to be the father of the future heir, in addition to the good relations between our countries."
"Our relations with Yang Fan's country are better and she is the heir to the throne, why doesn't she seem like an idea to be my wife?"
"I heard that Liu Wei's father is interested in a future marriage between the two of them, it's not for us to interfere…"
The man spoke in a disdainful tone, Liu Wei was not seen as a big fish for being an omega and only second in line to the throne.
Wang Zheng couldn't help but feel irritated. "It's too early to make any decisions..."
The omega smiled and pretended to agree, for him the decision had already been made on the day he requested Bloody Spring and Chen Fu would be the future king of Wang's country.
"Yes, your majesty is correct, but as I was passing through, I did not dare to stop visiting you."
"Clear. Thank you for your kindness."
They both stood up and the queen gestured for Huan Yang to open the door so the omega could get out as quickly as possible.
The man bowed slightly and kissed the queen's hand in farewell. She quietly watched the man walk away and finally leave her office.
She sighed wearily and went to her piece of cake that was still intact, picked up her spoon and bit into a piece. Really sweet. She felt better in her heart.
She took her plate and finally sat down at the table, she would eat calmly and go to rest.
