50% SHAMAN!

Chapter 3: Money in the slum?

"Yes! I've gotten close."

Maverick Read up on the mysterious book, states that the cabinet pill is about 60% successful based on his observations. Maverick has made a massive breakthrough!

Now that Maverick is swimming in cabinet pills, he is ready to start selling. But where? He could sell them on a website for foreign medicine. But if it's an investigation done, it will be spotted as a farce because the ingredients wouldn't have a healing reaction under normal circumstances.

Maverick can only hope it'll slide. Maverick wanted to test the pill first. It wouldn't do much good if the medicine was a failure. Maybe he could leave the pills in some sort of illegal pharmacy? That. most likely work because they value their reputation. he'll just get beat up, robbed, then thrown out.

After buying a plain white mask and a hoody, Maverick arrived in the slums. The building was either old or dilapidated or just made out of non-modern materials such as aluminum. It was easier to sell fake merchandise to the desperate who couldn't afford to be hospitalized. Lucky for them, he doesn't plan on doing that. He had a solid plan for getting the cabinet pills out to the public and building trust for future products.

During Maverick's walk through the streets, he stumbled upon a thin woman selling fruit. Her arms were firm on the fruit stand's top, supporting her full weight. Despite appearing dark, anyone could tell that it wasn't her skin tone. But what was most surprising was that she was also a shaman. You could see her yellow spirit, yet it was a drop in the ocean compared to Maverick's spirit.

"Hello, Miss. How much for a single sweet vine?" said Maverick.

The woman smiled to the full extent of her ability, and with a silent voice, she said. "1 credit each but you can pay half if you buy ten."

Maverick took out his wallet, which was on him before the fire, and gave her enough credits to buy 40 sweet vines. She was taken back. "Sir. You don't have a bag." She said."No need. I won't be taking the fruit." The women shrunk away."I don't understand." Maverick chuckled. "I'm only offering my services free of charge." Maverick took out some of his cabinet pills from his pocket.

"I know I look suspicious but would a suspicious man buy all your fruit and offer free medicine? He wouldn't. These are called cabinet pills. The drug is non-addictive and it can treat common ailments, but it takes time. It may also suppress some ailments. All you have to do is consume it once a day for an entire month and if you happen to run out, call this number."

Maverick placed the pills and his number in her hand, overwhelming her with his sales skills when a young man approached the two."What the hell are you giving my mom!"

A tall young man with a violent-looking vertical scar on his left cheek to eye said as he pushed Maverick to the ground; sliding several feet. Maverick knew this could end badly if he didn't pacify the ability user. "It's not drugs it's medicine." Maverick brushed himself off as he stood."I noticed that she was sick, so I offered her free medicine." The man was ready to strike as he raised his fists.

"But you wear a hoody and hide your face! Any man can tell you're a fucken con!"

Maverick knew he couldn't be trusted with his get-up. He looked like a drug dealer. Worse, a serial killer! Taking off the mask, Maverick decided to stake his identity. So with the man towering over him, he spoke.

"You're right, I'm not a doctor! I'm a shaman just like your mother."

The fierce man calmed down and his mother's worried look turned into a shocked one. The man then turned back to his mother.

"Is this true?"

He was affirmed by her head tilting down.

"Believe it or not, shamans can heal others. Most people have not yet discovered it. If you have a home I would like to explain further."

Having gestured for him to follow, the man walked away. To which his mother and Maverick followed. They led him inside an old small building. Inside was an old couch, two beds, and a small kitchen. It was as clean as a house in the slums could be. Maverick stood at the entrance facing the man.

"May I ask what your name is?"

"Go on ahead." He responded as he moved the fruit stand to the wall.

"Oh right." Maverick refrained from placing his hand on the back of his head."So what is it?"

"Daniel." He said as he helped his mother rest in bed."What are you trying to sell to my mother?"

"I wasn't selling anything. I actually wanted to pay her."

"so you wanted my mom to be your guinea pig?"

He technically was right on the nose.

"Not exactly. The medicine works and is perfectly safe for consumption."

Daniel stood."Prove it."

"What?" Maverick was dumbstruck.

"Take the medicine right now, in front of me."

Maverick gulped. He trusted the pills. But deep inside he was afraid. But he decided to pull through. With a swallow, it was down his throat."See, perfectly safe."

Daniel was dumbstruck himself. Usually, a con man would never take the product himself. He thought maybe he would give it a chance since it was free.

"I'll leave behind some extra pills. In return i ask that you gives these out to people who are sick.Soon i plan on selling and I just want 60 percent and set afforable prices because these things are cheap to make. I have to go as of now so here is my number and address."

said Maverick.

"I'll be seeing you soon." said Daniel.

Before going home, Maverick placed down a bag filled with pills and explained that they should be taken once a day.

He hadn't had any sleep since he awoke on the floor. But he didn't want to sleep in a ruined house. His only option was to ask Ms.Caldwel. Approaching Ms. Caldwel's door with a knock, she answered.

"May I sleep in your guest room I ca-"

"No need. Come on in."

"Thank you! You're a life saver."
