Chapter 2: CHAPTER TWO: CATCHING UP
Lauren shut her eyes tightly, expecting Asher's claws to slice her into two but she opened her eyes seconds after she heard a loud thud. Lauren opened her eyes and she saw Asher on the ground without his scary aura, claws and fangs and his red eyes, Asher was on the ground shaking uncontrollably. Lauren was surprised, this man was so scary seconds ago but now he is on the ground shaking uncontrollably.
" Please… Lauren… help… me." Lauren heard Asher mutter and she quickly rushed over to him, immediately she laid her hands on his body, she furrowed her eyebrows, he was burning so hot.
Lauren quickly went out of the room to get a bowl of water and cloth that she used to massage his hot body. She managed to carry Asher and place him on the only bed in the room, she stretched her back after placing Asher on the bed and she quickly rushed out of the room to get herbs for Asher. Ten minutes later, she entered the room again and she saw Asher sitting on the bed with his head drooped down and his hands supporting his head. She instinctively took a step back but she stopped when she saw that Asher smiled at her after he raised his head, Asher stood up and he took steady steps towards her and he stopped when he was just a push away from Lauren that was standing against the wall at the end of the room.
" What? Do you want to eat me?" Lauren managed to say slowly.
" No." Asher's smile widened as he responded.
" Lauren, thank you for helping me." Asher said slowly and Lauren could almost feel his sincerity seeping out of his words.
" If that's what you want to say then why are you scaring me."
Lauren said before pushing Asher away from her, Asher just chuckled in response as he walked over to the only bed in the room and he sat on it.
" Take this, it should help you." Lauren said as she moved closer to Asher, stretching a bowl that contained concorted herbs to Asher.
" I don't need it." Asher said dismissively as he scrunched up his face in disgust because the smell the herb emitted irritated him.
Lauren just sneered and she sat beside him after putting the bowl on a table.
" So what happened to you then?" Lauren asked as she glanced at Asher.
" I had a vision."
" You looked so scary then… like another you." Lauren said softly.
" Yeah, I saw another me in the vision… Something weird about the vision is that it felt so real." Asher said before sighing deeply.
" That's why you felt pain when you saw the vision?"
" Yes… " " Lauren, thanks for saving me, I could have died. But what do you want me to do in return for you, I don't think you would help for free." Asher said as he stared into Lauren's eyes.
" Well, you are wrong. I don't want anything in return… I just helped you." Lauren said snarkily but her face soon changed as she pointed her finger at him.
" Where is the money you stole?" Lauren suddenly asked as she fumed.
" Huh? What money?" Asher blurted out, dumbfounded.
" Are you trying to play dumb with me, you stole money from me hours ago." Lauren said.
" How many times would I tell you that… I am new in this body!"
Asher shouted.
" How is that possible?" Lauren shouted back.
" See Lauren… it's actually real, I just awoke in this body hours ago and I can't remember what happened and I don't even know where I am, I don't even know who I am." Asher said, desperate that at least, Lauren would believe him and brief him about where he woke up.
" I can't help but believe you right now." Lauren blurted out.
" Please do."
" But just for now… if I discover that you are fooling with me… I will have my son get rid of you." Lauren said.
" And how can your son get rid of me… who is he? Is he a god?"
Asher asked, chuckling.
" Shut up!" Lauren said as she hit Asher's head.
" So where am I?" Asher quickly asked.
" You are on earth." Lauren said, as a matter of fact.
" Earth?" Asher repeated the word again, trying to remember anything related to the word but he stopped when he remembered what happened when he tried to remember his past.
" Tell me about this Earth… please?" Asher asked again.
" You would not ask who you are?" Lauren asked in response.
" That doesn't mean now… but tell me who you think I am and what I was doing here." Asher said.
" I would be happy to tell you about yourself."
" So this morning, I was tendering my farm and then I saw that you were running away from my compound with the box where I kept my money but that was until some guys dressed in black appeared and I saw you running around my compound and then I saw that those people started to chase you."
" Chase me?" Asher couldn't help but repeat and his heart raced, he awoke in a body that has unsolved trouble.
" Yes… and they weren't ordinary people." Lauren said and Asher's fear compounded… he didn't know how ordinary people were around here, he didn't know how much power they could even control.
" They were flying around, trying to catch you but you surprisingly escaped each time they tried to catch you… that was until you threw my money box… " Lauren stopped for a while as her face turned sad. Please continue." Asher prompted but Lauren just shot him an angry look.
" Okay, I would return the money to you. I would work and get you your money back." Asher said and Lauren's face brightened.
" Really? But how can you do that? You don't even know who you are." Lauren said with a sneer.
" That's why you are here, you would teach me everything I need to know about this world." Asher said with a smile.
" And who told you that I would do that? After you heal, I will kick you out of here." Lauren said.
" If you wanted to do that, you should have done that. You are a great person Lauren and I swear that I would pay you back for everything you've done for me."
" Whatever… as I was saying. One of them almost caught you and you threw my money box at the person and he burnt it with fire." Lauren said and Asher almost broke into tears, these people can fly and use fire.
" But, one of them later burnt you with blue flames and you ended up where you were before I came to see you. That's why you have your clothes torn… by the way, you have a great body, just like my son."
" You keep mentioning your son, I am sure his body is not as good as this." Asher said confidently but Lauren just tsked in response.
" You should get a cloth as soon as possible though. So after burning they burned you, they searched your body and they didn't find anything and they also searched my farm but they didn't find anything and they later left. " Lauren said.
" But something sounds wrong here, they didn't attack you after seeing them killing someone?" Asher asked, curious.
" They can't… My son is someone important around here."
Lauren said proudly, puffing her cheeks.
" Your son again… can't you stop mentioning your son for a minute?" Asher said, annoyed.
" I am… " Lauren was cut short.
"I get you Lauren… so nothing happened again?" Asher asked.
" Well, let me try to remember… yeah something happened!"
Lauren said and Asher moved closer to her.
" They said that you stole something important from them, that's why they tracked you here and chased after you." Lauren said as she recounted.
" You said that they searched your farm right?"
" Yes, they did."
" That means I was with it when I arrived here." Asher said and he shot up and.
" They couldn't find it." Lauren said.
" Maybe I hid it somewhere here or around here." Asher reasoned.
" But they had magic, they just had to cast a spell and they would know where you hid it… some of them can even see a replay of what happened in the past." Lauren said.
" What? The flying and fire ability is made possible with magic?"
" Yes." Lauren said.
" Maybe they already found what I stole." Asher said and he sat down back.
" Maybe… tell me about this Earth." Asher said.
" Okay… " " Wait Lauren." Asher cut her short.
" Do you have any knowledge about magic?" Asher asked, expectant.
" Not really, but there are a lot of magic books and materials that my son used in the past in this house." Lauren said.
" Can you let me use them?" Asher asked.
" Sure. Why do you want to use them?"
" I want to learn magic now!"
