Chapter 43: Another Imperial Pest (2)

We sat around the table. Amanda's eyes never leave me even for a second. It was as if she was studying me, analyzing everything I did. It was a weird feeling being studied like a caged animal. I looked back into her golden eyes; it was like getting lost in a typhoon. A spring of knowledge flowed through them. She seemed older than her appearance.

"What can I do for you?" I asked glaring.

"My family has offended you I apologize. They didn't grasp the situation they faced. I would like to make amends and invite you to the Imperial family's home. I would be honored to host you." Her soft voice seemed to be pulling at my mind.

I thought about how this could be a trap, and what I could do to ensure my survival. I smiled and nodded.

"What an unexpected surprise. Very well I can free up some time to visit." I said watching her reaction.
