Chapter 26: Chapter 26: The Shifters

I woke the next morning, groggy and alone. I hadn't slept well at all and my body was screaming at me. 

Yet again, Cohen and I had slept in the same bed. And again, I'd spent the night on my side stiff and staring at the wall until the early hours when exhaustion had finally taken hold. 

Both mornings Cohen had been gone before I woke, and I was grateful. I didn't know if he was an early riser or avoiding me, but I was pretty sure I'd die from awkwardness if we actually had to get ready together. We avoided each other in the evenings too, with me going to bed before Cohen and him showing up suspiciously right as I settled down. I didn't mind. 

I didn't know why he insisted I stay with him, but he wasn't budging. I'd been certain that he'd take it back. The man hated women for crying out loud. Who'd have thought he'd be fine with one sleeping in his bed.
