Chapter 20: FEW YEARS LATER
A few years passed and I had successfully become a doctor in dad's hospital as a general physician for approximately 3 years now after all the hard studying and successfully completing my master's degree. I had limited myself to the hospital and home and hardly spoke to anyone except dad, Riya, and her boyfriend. I was working as many as shifts I could and went back home after getting exhausted only to sleep. I have completed conducting 100 medical camps and have fulfilled Krish's wish. Now, dad is no more in Bangalore he has shifted to Chennai and Riya is now monitoring dad's old hospital she has a boyfriend Rachael, they have been dating for some 3 years I guess. Rachael is a good, caring person. They both share an amazing love story, Rachael and Riya were friends at first, he was staying in Pune during that time and later their texting turned into flirting and they ended up getting committed to each other. I thought their relationship won't last because the distance was really a tough challenge for them, but the couple went through all the misunderstandings, quarrels, etc holding each other's hand tightly. Now Racheal has moved to Bangalore so that he can spend more time with her. I have met him a couple of times he is like a brother to me and I love teasing him from time to time.
I enter back to my cabin after having a check on my patients and switch on my mobile phone and see 5 missed calls from Riya I immediately call her back assuming that there might be something important.
"Hello Riya so many missed calls anything wrong", I ask her as soon as she attends the call
"Megha", her voice excited
"So happy, what's up"
"It is my love anniversary after a few days"
"Wow. Advance happy anniversary"
"Are you free now"
"Yes, will be starting home in a few minutes"
"Come to café coffee day now, want to talk with you"
I reach the place within a few minutes. Riya and Rachael were already there. I went sat with them, a moment later a person accompanies us. He was wearing dark blue denim and a white shirt; he had straight hair and a dimple-style beard. He took the seat next to me; his smile had an amazing look. His eyes were chocolate brown in color; which reminded me of the mesmerizing eyes of Krish. His voice was soft and melodious to hear. He greeted Riya and Rachael and exchanged a smile with him.
"I'm Megha", I extend my hand to him
"I'm Abhishek Malhotra", and he shook his hand with me.
"So listen to celebrate our love anniversary, we will be flying to Paris", Riya said.
"That's good, have a great journey", Abhishek said
"Both of you will accompany us"
"What why we? You both go and enjoy. First of all, I have had enough of seeing your romance and I don't want to be third wheeling your anniversary celebration", I said
"Megha you are Riya's best friend and well-wisher, while Abhishek is mine. So we want you both to accompany us, and anyhow both of your tickets and visa are already ready. The flight is tomorrow", Rachael said
"Okay I'll join you.", Abhishek agreed immediately
"I'll ask dad once", I said
"I know uncle, he will surely give permission and ask you to enjoy", Riya said and I take my phone and walk a little away from the others to call dad
"Hello dad, how are you?", I ask him as soon as he attends the call
"I'm fine sweetie, how are you doing?"
"All good dad, I want to ask you for something"
"Shoot it"
"You know it is Riya and Rachael's anniversary after a few days"
"That's great, convey my wishes to them"
"Sure, so they are celebrating in Paris, so can I go with them"
"For sure, but be safe and take care"
"Thank you dad"
"I'll call you later dear, got to go, bye"
"Bye dad", I say and hang up
I return and sit with them and inform them that I will be accompanying them to Paris. Then, we ordered some cold coffee and drank it while chit-chatting. Later everyone thought of having a drive to a park nearby and just having a walk. It was for those two love birds to have fun and they wanted Abhishek and me to just go with them and simply waste time. I walked freely and started speaking to Abhishek, it wasn't like I'm talking to someone whom I met today, and it feels like I have known him for years. On the way, I found a cute, little puppy, and obviously, I started cuddling with it as I am so obsessed with dogs. Then, I gave him my phone and asked him to click a picture of me with the puppy, as he clicked a few snaps I waved bye to the puppy and resumed walking. He walked near a shop and purchased something. He walked to me and handed me a bar of chocolate.
"Here take it"; he gave me the chocolate bar
"You bought only one?"
"Hmm-mm"
"Then, you eat it"
"No, I brought it for you"
"We can share it though"
"Just eat it"
"Thanks", I said and took the chocolate from his hand.
I ripped open the chocolate and offered him some and enjoyed the rest, and ate it completely. He gave me a surprised look as I put the wrapper into my bag instead of throwing them, and so I explained to him how much I love to collect chocolate wrappers and about a set of wrappers that were thrown out by Krish Malhotra, a tear rolled down my eyes and I immediately wipe it away so that Abhishek doesn't notice it. He looked puzzled after I mentioned the name 'Krish Malhotra' and I cleared his confusion by saying that there was a man named Krish in my life who left me without any notification. It was getting late and so I decided to go back home. As I came out of the park I felt a tap on my shoulder and I heard a voice saying, "Come on I'll drop you." I turned around and saw Abhishek sitting on his bike. I first refused to and later accepted his ride. He dropped me home and told me that he will meet me at the airport tomorrow.
My tickets and visa had arrived yesterday evening; Rachael had handed them over to me. I was already at the airport waiting for everyone to arrive and board the flight. Later, everyone arrived and we collected our boarding passes, and we checked through the tickets, and our bad luck all our seats were here and there scattered, not together. I walked into the bookstore. I found many bestselling books beautifully arranged on the shelves and I decided to buy two romantic novels written by Durjoy Dutta. It was going to be a long flight and these novels in my hand looked like a worthy companion. The doors of the flight closed, I switched off my mobile phone and fastened my seat belt, and began to read the books. The announcements started and the flight attendants started their drill. Next to me was a cute couple with a small kid. The kid looked adorable and gave me an attractive toothless smile. I knew that babies start crying when the airplane started to take off because of a change in air pressure. The flight started to rise and the kid started to cry non-stop. Gradually the couple succeeded in silencing the baby by stuffing a milk bottle into the kid's mouth and it fell asleep.
With this entire sudden plan, I had to pack all kinds of stuff for me, which had taken away my sleep from me last night. I unfolded the blanket and adjusted my neck pillow and fell asleep happily.
