Chapter 11: Chapter 11: Transmutation Array

Chapter 11: Transmutation Array

~Albus POV~

Hmm…

However, there comes a big issue with that and that issue is actually me.

The reason why I can't study the normal way is that it's too time-consuming and really too long of a time period to truly study to become an alchemist.

Here's a prime example of what I mean.

Why did Amestris have so many alchemists in their ranks?

The answer is quite simple.

Because each of those alchemists is practically a master in their own general fields like the titles that come with them.

The Flame, Freezing, Crystal, Silver, Iron Blood, Lightning, and Crimson Alchemist as well as so many more…

It took them years of understanding to comprehend the elements and everything which would make me impossible to replicate some of them except for the iconic ones like Mustang and Kimblee.

Not in a true sense anyway.

Plus, there is another thing I have to know about the other version of alchemy.

Alkahestry, also called Purification Arts, refers to the slightly different form of Alchemy used in the country of Xing.

Alkahestry differs from Alchemy in both its practice and its goal.

Whereas Amestrian Alchemy claims to have its roots in the energy of tectonic shifts and practices manipulation of matter toward scientifically practical ends, Alkahestry is centered on a concept called the Dragon's Pulse.

The Dragon's Pulse speaks of the Earth itself having a constant flow of chi also called life energy which flows metaphorically from the tops of mountains down to the land, nourishing everything it passes with that energy as does blood coursing through the veins.

And what is exactly the Dragon Pulse?

The Dragon Pulse could be explained like this.

Rather than stemming from the movement of tectonic plates in the Earth's crust, the true source of the alchemical energy is from the movement of a multitude of souls, which in turn form All, including the Universe.

By understanding the Dragon Pulse this way you get a better understanding of the Philosopher Stone's working and is related to the One is all, All is one creed.

Why this is important is because I'm going to recreate a unique version that combines the two alchemy together.

However, I might not be able to recreate the whole process but it will have to do.

But I don't need to understand much I just only need one portion of it to work.

And there is one character that perfectly fits what I'm talking about.

Scar.

Glancing around for a bit to find any writing materials in the room I began to draw and outline the right transmutation circles or array needed for this to work along with the Alkahestry of the dragon to fit with the circle.

This made Scar one of the antagonists of the series turned good in brotherhood one of the most dangerous characters of the show to be someone really feared when given the chance as he did take down a couple of state alchemists that know more general fields of alchemy than him and still won.

The Ishvalan Scar has an array signifying the Dragon's Pulse tattooed on his right arm, mixing the Alchemical runes of Amestris and Xing with an Alkahestric source to allow for unhindered transmutations.

Essentially Scar, as he views himself not an alchemist, has shown no such interest in Alchemy before and yet how is he able to use alchemy if he never even studied it before?

The answer lies in his unique and advanced form of transmutation arrays on his arms to make it work along with Alchemy and Alkahesty.

With that, I began to use my Mana to channel through my body again to make the drawing process of Scar's Tattoos faster as I recall them perfectly from memory.

Still burns but not as bad as before but still there.

Drawing the Transmutation Array is needed.

Still, the fact remains that I might not be able to deconstruct an object whose composition I do not comprehend suggests that I must actively identify, or at least make educated guesses at, the makeup of objects I wish to destroy; at best, I'm an amateur alchemist by practice just activating the ability of this Alchemy.

Going need to practice to make it work for me.

But it's good as it is for the time being able to destroy the stone and other hardy materials.

Reconstruction is going to be the tricky part.

Either way, I began to draw the outline for the transmutation circle needed for it to work.

Fortunately for me drawing the Tattoo that scar used is much easier than with alchemic text needed since I have seen what it originally looks like and understand.

Scar's arm array is the deconstruction half of a two-piece complementary set designed by his older brother.

By studying both Amestrian alchemy and Xingese alkahestry, Scar's elder brother was able to find similarities between the two and combine them into an array that incorporated their strengths.

The right arm, marked with 'TERRA' and 'AER', carries an array incorporating twin snakes in a Caduceus pattern surrounded by reptilian scales which may represent the 'Dragon's Pulse' of alkahestric origin and a series of tribal arrows leading down to the wrist, representing an outward flow. This arm is designated for deconstruction.

The left arm, designated for reconstruction, is marked with the same array turned upside down to represent an inward flow and with the Dragon's Pulse tattooed in white ink rather than the black ink of the right arm. Its inward flow completes the cyclical pulse of full transmutation and it is marked with 'IGNIS' and 'AQUA', completing the elemental tetrad.

And hopefully enough just enough to activate the alchemy needed.

Whew…

Now activating the alchemy is the easy part figuring out how active it will work outside is a different matter altogether.

Resting my body first as I can still feel the strain of what happened to take its toll on me mentally was draining.

/////

After finishing up drawing the right arm for my deconstruction and the left arm for reconstruction I tried to recall more from the show.

And thanks to the Ultimate Eye I happen to know the great power of Flame Alchemy.

Remembering everything with my Mana to help channel my body and with my new eye of the Ultimate Eye viewing Hawkeyes back revealing the research and with it I began to draw it on paper for safe keeping.

Heh.

Ultimate Eye for the win.

Wrath states that it's the ultimate eye that has allowed him to survive countless battles. He is capable of a highly precise perception of details.

It is because of this eye he has the ability to read and predict practically any move his opponent could make as well as the minute details and movements of his general surroundings.

The eye's only weakness is that when there is a physical obstacle blocking its path, it is unable to provide Wrath with the predictions it normally would.

Additionally, he has pointed out on multiple occasions that, while his eye is capable of reading any situation, his own aging body is often unable to keep up with the projected courses of action that his sight ability proposes to him; and so he generally compensated for this by moving and maneuvering his body ahead of time.

And looking back on my memories of the episode when Hawkeye shows Roy the Flame Alchemy text and transmutation circle viewing it with my Ultimate Eye as I began to write it all down for future use to decipher it for me to understand.

I made sure to keep this at the ready in case I would need to learn about Flame Alchemy as its a really good long-range power for the time being.

However, as I said before though I don't have the clear brainpower to pull off what Roy does it's something for the future for me to understand later down the line when I get the chance to meet Truth from the FMA world or this one to have a better understanding.

For now, though I'll have to settle with the fact I have the power of deconstruction drawn on my right arm and the power of reconstruction on my left.

Of course, that's under the assumption that they work.

While I may not know Alkahestry I don't need to as many thanks to Scar as he was at best an amateur in Alchemy and frankly, I'm in that same position right now.

Still…

Tapping onto a nearby chair provided by the hotel I used my right arm for deconstruction.

*Zzzz*

Soon enough the chair then began to deconstruct into pieces as I place my left arm of reconstruction on it to see if I can use it.

….

No reaction at all…

Frowning at this I can already tell the reason why is because I don't properly understand the Dragon's Pulse for me to truly get the grasp of reconstruction for this transmutation array to work.

Well…

At least the right arm for deconstruction works and that's a win in my books.

Good.

Now I just did the very basics of deconstructing using what I know to good use.

I mean Scar managed to use it when he didn't even know he was using a version of different Alchemy when he used it on people only basing it off from Amestres version.

Although Alkehestry is out of my reach since it's more on the medical and spiritual side for me that I have no lack of understanding to comprehend.

At least in this given time anyway.

Still having to remember Scar Transmutation Array will come in handy for me in close quarters combat.

But I still need a decent mid or long-range attack.

Sigh…

Shaking my head I began to at least be glad I have some means to fight back and have precognition in the form of the Ultimate Eye to help me out.

For now, I need to rest and start leaving soon.

Might as well sleep as much as I can before leaving.

Oh!

And don't forget to get some food preservations and sleeping gear hopefully I have enough.

Don't want to die or go hungry again.
