Chapter 10: Chapter 10

Numen watched the scene in front of him as he checked the total count of players left in his garden.

Half the lives he had brought into the realm had already been lost in a matter of one night. Many of them were due to the fights that broke out right off the bat among the crowd when he had announced that they had no choice but to fight for their own lives if they wanted to see their home worlds again. When he thought about how quickly this game had faded away it almost felt disappointing. He had hoped for something more brutal to happen to them all to make it more exciting but he was willing to accept it as what it was.

With his golden eyes scanning the realm he'd created himself he could only smile at the fact that he was right about Fae. Fae had managed to kill one of his top survivors and it caused him pleasure to know how right he was about the man being able to survive. The fact that Tyson had somehow got involved as well with their group only made him feel more intrigued with how things were going. He wanted to push them further and see how much they could handle.

"Numen, what are you doing?" The spectator asked as he watched Numen begin to toy with his own realm's terrain. It was obvious the god was toying with the lives again by altering the very terrain that they were all battling for their lives on.

A few of the lives that were among the realm had fallen due to the terrain altercations crushing them, drowning them, even burning them alive. The sudden drop in lives had even included a few who died while still fighting other players for their very life.

"I want to see more!" Numen's face was one of being pleased with himself as he finished his task at altering the very realm itself to sate his own selfish desires. He had never seen something so interesting in years as Tyson teaming up with Fae and Chi.

"If you push them all too far you're only going to ruin your own game with them and have nobody left at all to call a winner at the end." The spectator stated as he felt Numen was going to far. He did not find himself fond of the game itself that Numen held every year in his realm, but toying with them even further would only push the limits of them all to the brink of no return.

"If they die, they die. I can just have them replaced anew." Numen blurted out as he turned to walk away from the spectator. His long white hair dragging against the floor of his mansion as he walked down his long hallway.

The spectator followed Numen from behind as they both left the observation room. It felt as if Numen was losing his mind in the eyes of the spectator to go a far as to personally toy with the players who were fighting for their lives already as best as they could.

Had he gone mad? The spectator thought to himself as he gazed at the back of the god who was walking in front of him amid the silence.

"When you live as long as I do you'll come to realize that sometimes you must take measures to entertain yourself at times. I've already reached that point where nothing amuses me anymore. I have found something that is giving me a feeling to watch that I had long since lost. I will enjoy it to the fullest." Numen went on to preach to the spectator. He could hear the footsteps of the man behind him coming to a halt at his sudden words.

"Maybe you really have gone mad over the years.." The spectator sighed heavily as he really considered the thought. If he stood a chance against Numen he would had ended the god's game long ago himself but he knew he could never do anything about Numen himself. At the most he could only come each year and supervise the situation himself.

"Gone mad?" Numen considered that thought himself as a smile played at his golden eyes. "Maybe I have gone mad."

"That's not something to joke about, Numen." The spectator was not joking when it came to that idea about Numen. He was being entirely serious about the fact that Numen might be losing his mind.

"I was not joking. I was agreeing with the concept of me being mad. I've lived long enough at the end of the day to reach that point." A slight laugh escaped him. He was willing to agree with having gone mad at some point but that did not mean he would stop doing what gave him the only bit of pleasure he had left to feel in life. It also did not mean he was willing to roll over and accept his fate if someone else decided to go against him. At the end of the day he was simply willing to accept himself as what he was. He knew he had become a ruthless brute over the years and treated living things as game pieces but for what little bit of excitement he felt with it he was willing to be that ruthless brute they all begged and pleaded for their lives to.

Continuing their walk in silence together neither one of them had anything further to add. They could only hear the steps each other made as they came to the lower half of the mansion. Entering the dining room where Numen sat down to enjoy himself a cold glass of tea. It was obvious that the man had no worry over how things were going out there in his garden with the players. He would wait a while before going back up and checking on how they were doing again. For now the only thing on his mind was to relax with a cold drink as the spectator kept him company.
