Chapter 6: A Chance to Contract a Beast

Translator: Dragon Boat Translation Editor: Dragon Boat Translation

Now that he had a few security guards, Li Yi's hospital enjoyed a short period of peace. He began to treat people's pets again as usual.

That evening, Li Yi was in the clinic, writing out a prescription for a Fiercetooth Rabbit.

Li Yi saw that the status above the Fiercetooth Rabbit's head read [ Vomiting ] , so he began administering some medicine to it.

With the help of his system, Li Yi was able to treat beasts much faster than before.

Of course, he could take away their statuses with a wave of his hand. The pet's illness would gradually disappear.

But if he did that, how could he earn money? Li Yi continued to prescribe medicine as before. When the customers left with their pets, he would reach out and remove the status.

Of course, the medicine was not completely useless. Pet beasts got sick often. Once Li Yi had taken away their statuses, it was possible that once they got back home the status would appear again.

After Li Yi finished administering the medicine and collecting the payment, the customer picked up the Fiercetooth Rabbit and was about to leave. Li Yi reached out and touched the rabbit's head.

At the same time, Li Yi took away the [ Vomiting ] status off its head.

However, after the status was removed, another entry appeared. There was a new status fragment over the Fiercetooth Rabbit's forehead!

[ Contract - Type: Beast ]

Looking at this new status, Li Yi was a little puzzled. Most importantly, this entry was pure white. It was neither a positive nor a negative status.

Li Yi didn't care about that and took down the fragment.

"It is in much better condition now, and should recover soon." Li Yi told the pet's owner with a smile.

The owner looked down and found that, indeed, the pet was looking much better. Then, he laughed happily. "So it seems. Its spirit has recovered a little..."

The Fiercetooth Rabbit was able to recover instantly because Li Yi took the status off its head. With this system, Li Yi could easily treat the man's pet.

After sending off the last guest, Li Yi decided to close the doors and call it a day.

Suddenly, a system notification appeared in his mind.

[ You just collected a Contract Fragment. ]

[ Current progress: Contract Fragments (1/5)]

[ Collect five Contract Fragments, and you will obtain the ability to contract a Beast ]

[ Currently, the Contract Fragment you have collected is of type Beast. The other types are Bird, Fish, Reptile, and Plant ]

After seeing this string of notifications, Li Yi was instantly excited!

He actually had the chance to contract a pet beast!

In the past, he never would have thought such a thing were possible. He thought he would never in his entire life have the chance to contract a pet beast!

He did not expect that the system would actually give him a second chance!

Since he had this chance, he definitely could not miss it.

The Beast Contract Fragment that he got from the Fiercetooth Rabbit was of the Beast type. A Beast-Type Contract Fragment should let him contract a mammal-like creature.

The other ones included Fish, as well as Reptiles and Plants, the most extensive Type.

It would not be easy to gather all these fragments. It seemed that all he could do was keep collecting them off of customers' pets.

The next morning, Li Yi went into work early.

Since he now had this opportunity, his future was looking bright. He naturally had more motivation!

From that day onward, he would see as many patients as possible so that he could meet more and more different kinds of Beasts. Only then would he have a chance to obtain the Contract Fragments.

Early that morning, Li Yi found Zhang San and a few of his underlings squatting at the door.

"Big Brother is here! We were just waiting for you to open the door!" Zhang San stood up excitedly.

Li Yi walked over and opened the door.

"I didn't expect you guys to come so early." Li Yi lamented. He thought he had woken up early enough today.

Zhang San scratched his head and smiled awkwardly. "I wanted to come in early to help you guard your turf so that you can practice medicine without worry. I believe that one day you will become one of this country's most famous doctors!"

Zhang San was very confident. It was precisely because of this vision of his that he was so determined to keep a diligent watch of the hospitals' front door.

If Li Yi became rich in the future, he would rise with the tide.

Li Yi nodded slightly. "That's right. I've finally found a few good employees. That being the case, I'll have to trouble all of you to guard this place."

As he spoke, Li Yi pushed open the door and walked in.

Zhang San nodded repeatedly, then stood guard at the door, looking very serious.

He was aware that he had not enjoyed much success in this life. If he could get involved with someone successful early on, that would be a great help in the years to come.

Li Yi returned to his consultation room and prepared to welcome today's guests.

When he went out that morning, the sky was still very clear. Around noon, however, it began to rain quite suddenly.

The sound of the rain did a number on Li Yi's concentration. On top of that, due to the weather, almost no guests came.

Zhang San and the others could only hide in the hospital to take shelter from the rain. If they stayed outside for even a second, they would get drenched.

At that time, two girls came up to the eaves of Yi's Beast Hall.

One of these girls was wearing a long white dress, stained with all sorts of charming, beautiful patterns. The trim of the dress was inlaid with clear sapphires.

A circle of diamonds was inlaid in the neckline. She was dressed extremely luxuriously, like a little princess.

The girl behind her was dressed much more simply. She was only wearing casual black clothes.

The luxuriously-dressed girl was holding a cage made of gold wire in her hand.

The cage's base was inlaid with all kinds of gemstones.

The cage was holding a frail-looking Fire Sparrow. At that moment, it was lying in the cage surrounded by an extremely weak aura.

The plainly dressed girl stuck her head out and looked at the hospital. With a look of disdain, she said, "This building is quite plain, and on top of that it's very small. That really doesn't leave a good impression. Let's go to a different one. I don't think this one will work."

However, the pretty girl dressed as a princess shook her head. "Let's give it a try. We've looked at other hospitals, but they haven't been able to do anything. This is the only hospital in town that hasn't tried yet..."

"Bai Youyun, you are a rich young lady after all. Why would you want to spend your money at a place like this? I really don't know what you're thinking."

The girl crossed her arms and sighed speechlessly.

Hearing that, Bai Youyun said helplessly, "Ya, I have no choice. I've done everything I can. You're my best friend. Come in with me..."

The unhappy-looking girl who was ordinarily dressed was called Lin Ya. She was Bai Youyun's best friend. Although the two of them came from different families, it did not stop them from being good friends.

When she heard Bai Youyun say that, she sighed helplessly. "Alright, I'll go in with you. But I doubt this cheap little hospital will be able to cure your pet!"

Hearing Lin Ya's agreement, Bai Youyun smiled happily. "Then let's hurry on in. The day of the competition is coming soon. I have to do my best!"
