Chapter 34: Side story: Yang's adventure

Her Mom had dropped her entire family off. Where? Well she knew her Mom went to strange places but this was unexpected. A world where there were no Grimm. No Grimm, no Dust, no mechashift weapons, no scrolls. Yang and Ruby looked at each other as their Mom and Dad introduced themselves to a sickly man and a young-looking blonde girl.

"Hello, are you.. er.. Kiritsugu?" Taiyang asked, offering his hand with a flustered smile.

"I am. Judging by your appearances.. Raven's family?" Kiritsugu asked, shaking his hand.

"Oh good! She talked about us. That makes it so much easier. Yes, we're Raven's family. I'm Summer, this is my husband, Taiyang and these are our kids, Ruby and Yang. Along with our Corgi, Zwei!" Summer politely but enthusiastically introduced.

"I did hear those names. Raven isn't with you?" Kiritsugu asked, looking over the family.

"No.. There's some sort of threat she had to deal with" Taiyang said, seeing Summer's worry, along with Ruby and Yang's.

"A threat..? To her? She beat Berserker. What could possibly be a threat to her?" Illya asked, her brows furrowed.

"I should have gone too!" Suddenly, Yang proclaimed, getting their attention.

"Yang.." Taiyang looked at his daughter sympathetically.

"I know I'm not strong like you guys.." Yang looked down, fists clenched.

"But I can't just.. accept it! Maybe I could have distracted them or helped some other way. I just hate it..!" Yang let her frustration out.

"Yang.. you know Aunt Raven wouldn't want you to be in there while she fights" Ruby put her hand on her arm and spoke.

This seemed to calm Yang down but the frustration was still evident in her eyes. Kiritsugu hummed and watched her with a small nod. Hearing him take a particular interest in the girl, Illya looked at her and made the connection.

"You remind me of Shirou" Kiritsugu said, getting the Xiaolong family's attention.

"Mom mentioned him. She saved him, right?" Yang asked, though next heard the front door open.

Given that it was evening, it wasn't too unexpected. But Shirou usually came home earlier, so Kiritsugu was a bit concerned. Looking over, they saw Shirou walking in. Except he seemed a little annoyed, which was uncharacteristic for him.

"I'm hom- Eh? Who are you?" Shirou asked, seeing the family of five, including Zwei, who ran over and started licking his hands.

"You must be Shirou! Raven told us about you. Failed to mention what a cutie you are though!" Summer got excited and stopped herself from ruffling Shirou's red hair.

"Eh..? Raven's family?" Shirou asked his Father, who simply nodded.

"Well you are welcome to stay here. Raven has helped me take care of Shirou in numerous ways and reunited me with my daughter" Kiritsugu explained, gesturing Summer and Tai over to the living room.

"Thank you for your hospitality. Ruby, Yang? Stay out here with Shirou, will you? I'm sure you'll be quick friends" Tai requested, pulling Summer along before she grabbed Shirou.

"Awww, Taiii..." Summer whined all the way to the living room, much to Tai's dismay.

Yang observed Shirou closely. Shirou did the same. A feeling arose in them both. A sense of familiarity one would only have if they were trained under Raven. Yang's fingers twitched near her blade. Shirou's magic circuits ready to activate. Raven beat a sense of battle lust into them both subconsciously. Too bad for them, Ruby broke their focus.

"Hey! So you have SWORDS right!?" Ruby asked excitedly.

"Uh.. yes? I guess M-Raven told you about my Magecraft?" Shirou was taken back by Ruby's eagerness.

"YES! TELLMEHOWITWORKSPLEASECANYOUCOPYANYWEAPONYOUSEE!?" Ruby enthusiastically asked.

"Pfft!" Yang snorted, snickering at the boy being backed against the wall by her sister.

"Y..Yeah except for Divine constructs.." Shirou scratched his cheek as he answered.

"Not bad. Not bad at all. But can you use those weapons?" Yang asked provocatively.

"Of course I can.. What about you? You don't really have anything like Magecraft where you're from, right?" Shirou stood his ground and asked, seeing Yang's lips thin.

"No but we have aura AND semblances" Yang replied with a huff.

"I want weapon magecraft.." Ruby muttered mutely.

Ruby's mutter went unheard though. Yang and Shirou continued to size the other up. A sort of competitiveness sparking between the two. One that was broken when Shirou broke eye contact with a worried look.

"What's that face for? Mom's not the kinda person to choose favorites" Yang asked, seeing Shirou sigh.

"No.. Not that. It's just my underclassmen" Shirou answered with irritation on his face.

"School drama? Ugh.. I hate school drama" Yang scowled as Ruby nodded.

"Kind of. It's just her brother, Shinji.. He's a jerk but that's manageable. It's this way he looked at her and touched her face.." Shirou grit his teeth, fighting back his disgust and gut feeling.

"Then why don't we just check up on her then? See if she's fine?" Ruby asked, seeing Yang was about to recommend the same thing.

"I guess.. Just keep your weapons hidden and don't beat him. I know it's hard to resist punching him but don't. I don't want to cause trouble for Sakura" Yang shrugged in reply and put her blade in Ruby's cloak, next to Crescent Rose.

"Hidden! Now let's hurry. Mom might get worried if we're out too long" Ruby said, eagerly walking out of the house.

"Er.. which way are we going..?" Ruby stopped, looking back to the two.

Yang and Shirou walked out after her, both failing to hide their grins.

"This way. Not far from here" Shirou took the lead as Yang ignored Ruby's pout.

They walked along the modern streets of Fuyuki and the sisters were taken back by the sheer density of the city. This was more populated and clustered in than even Vale. And this wasn't even their biggest city in the country. Yang was excited that she got the chance to go explore a whole new world and Ruby was a bit intimidated by the size.

Soon enough, they came upon the Matou household. It was a large house built in Japanese style. Seeing no one was at the front gate, however, Shirou hesitated to just go in. As he was about to speak, Yang simply decided to jump the gate. Landing on the other side, she looked over at Shirou and Ruby before opening the gate with a quick push of her palm.

"Easy" Yang declared.

"Yaaaang.." Ruby whined as she facepalmed.

"The issue wasn't if it was easy or not.. This is breaking and entering.." Shirou sighed and stepped in with Ruby quickly, not keen on being spotted by any bystanders.

"Why should that stop you from trying to help out your friend? You got a bad feeling, right?" Yang asked, seeing his brows lower as he nodded firmly.

"You're right.." Shirou agreed and proceeded to walk over to the front door.

Before he knocked, he closed his eyes. He felt something bad was about to happen. He didn't know what, but the awful feeling in his gut remained as long as he remained standing there. He sprung into action. Reinforcing his body, he ran out to the side and saw an open window on the second floor. Trusting his instinct, he pushed power into his legs and sprang up into the second window, catching onto the edge and vaulting in. Yang was right behind him too, determined to see what was going on for him to react this way.

Upon seeing the sight they stumbled into, they both froze in shock. Shinji was there with Sakura. Sakura's clothes were being forcefully ripped away and Shinji was clutching the fabric. All the while, he had his erect dick out and his pants were halfway down. Both looked at the previously dead-eyed Sakura, who now started to cover herself up in shame and embarrassment.

"EMIYA!? What the fuck are you doing here!?" Shinji hurriedly slid his pants back up, though furious at his presence.

They said nothing. Both connecting the dots of the scene slowly as Ruby started to make her way up. Shirou barely contained his anger just enough to ask Shinji one thing.

"How.. long..?" He asked, fists clenched tightly.

"Haaah?" Shinji made an annoying noise with a disgusting smile.

"Oi oi what are you talking about, Emiya? How long have I what? Been dealing with this.. useless thing? I decided today was the day I finally got some payback. Then you burst in, 'Hero'" Shinji sneered before looking at Yang.

Developing body, same age and very beautiful. She wasn't seen around before, so he was curious as to who she was. He was about to open his mouth again, but the angriest snarl he'd ever seen on anyone appeared on her face gradually. The ferocity made him back up slightly, where he hit Shirou's back. However, Shirou wasn't paying attention to him any more.

"Hey, Sakura.. Is that true? Has he only tried this once?" Shirou asked calmly.

"Sen..pai? I.... yes.." Sakura answered hesitantly, making Shinji shrug.

"See? I really should hav-" He had no time to finish before two fists met his face.

The force of Shirou and Yang's fists hit him hard enough to make him fly out of Sakura's room violently. His face finally registered the pain after a few seconds. His nose was broken and his cheekbones were both fractured. He tried to scream in agony but he couldn't. His hands covered his face as he soundlessly wailed, tears falling out of his eyes without end.

"Good.. If you had.. I would have drawn out the pain so much longer" Shirou replied with a deep scowl.

"Tch.. Guess we got that in common then" Yang replied, seeing Ruby run in and throw a blanket over Sakura.

"You're gonna die, Shinji. Pray to whatever deity you can" Yang spat, cocking her fist back.

"N-Nooo! RIDER!" Shinji quickly took out a book from his back, hidden in his waistline.

Feeling imminent danger, Yang and Shirou jumped back, just in time to avoid chained blades striking the floor from where they stood. A tall woman with long hair and a blindfold stood in front of Shinji. Despite that, she looked annoyed. Not at the fact that Shinji was hurt, no. More likely the fact that they hadn't just killed him yet.

"RIDER! KILL THEM!" Shinji screamed.

"No! Rider-" The room exploded before Sakura could get in a word.

Both Yang and Shirou had been sent flying out the window. Both landing on their feet but still hadn't expected the speed at which Rider threw them out. Yang grabbed her blade and unsheathed it, fire dust igniting the blade as she did. Shirou himself traced two normal steel swords and reinforced them. Both Yang and Shirou gave Rider a look.

~She probably threw us out so Sakura wouldn't get hurt inside..~ Yang thought, though groaned at the rough landing.

Shinji stepped out near the hole with a growl and pointed at Rider as she landed before Yang and Shirou.

"KILL THEM, KILL THEM, KILL THEM!!!" He screeched while holding his face in agony.

Thus began the fight. Shirou and Yang could hardly keep up with Rider and she wasn't using her full power, not that Shinji could tell. She liked the three, who had come to save Sakura. The last one, who was overlooked by Shinji. He was in too much of a rage to notice the kid protecting Sakura. Ruby, who saw Yang and Shirou stuck on the defensive, drew Crescent Rose and quietly moved behind him while pointing the barrel at Shinji's back.

~This should send him flying out and stop the fight.. I hope..~ Nodding to herself, Ruby pulled the trigger and shot Shinji in the back with a fire dust round.

A round which promptly started a house fire that quickly spread due to the volatile nature of fire dust.

Except, Ruby hadn't factored in his lack of aura. The shot blew a golf ball sized hole through Shinji's torso and threw him right at Shirou and Yang, who both were attacking Rider mid-swing. Ruby had no time to lament though, as she tried to control the quickly spreading fire in a panic.

Yang's blade cut his stomach open and Shirou's blades cut his bottom half off. It was quiet, except for the wet, squishy sounds of Shinji's abrupt death. They could swear they heard Rider's faint laugh. As if it couldn't look any worse, a black and red rift opened right before them and Raven stepped out with Salem.

Taking a look around, she looked right at Yang and muttered, "Yaaaaang..."
