Chapter 11: CHAPTER 15
It's been two days since her ragdoll cat just finished its neutered surgery. Adrianna is very worried about Captain Pluff and decided not to go anywhere in the meantime and plans to be a good cat owner who monitors the needs of her cute fluffy cat. She already sent a message to Alex and asked if she wants to visit her sometimes. As for Garret, Adrianna temporarily bans him from visiting her place knowing that Captain Fluff hates him for some unknown reason.
Garret tried to visit her last night but she firmly refused him. That man already knows Captain Pluff hates him yet he keeps on trying to visit her place. Although Adrianna doesn't want to irritate her cat, she also hates to see Garret's arms and legs full of long and deep scratches. The last time she saw his left arm, the deepest scar that her cat left on it are still there.
Jackson Lavine, her older cousin, will visit her place tonight to personally deliver the gifts she asked him to buy when he visited another country last month. Jackson is a year older than Adrianna and they can be considered close since they knew each other since their childhood. Just like her, Jackson is also a carefree person who keeps doing whatever he wants. Since it's been a while since Adrianna last saw him, she decided to clean up for a bit after feeding her cat.
While gathering her pet's toys scattered in the living room, her phone chimes indicating that she received a message. She fished out the phone from her pocket and see who is it. As expected, the sender was Garret.
'Did you already eat your dinner?'
'Not yet. But I'll cook something in just a few minutes.'
'I suddenly missed eating your food.'
'Hehe. You are still not allowed to visit me.'
'...'
Adrianna knows Garret wants to properly explain the connection between him and his fiancee-to-be. Naturally, Adrianna believes his words. It is easy for her to detect if he's lying to her or not. But it is Garret who cannot sit still without confirming to himself that she is not mad or misunderstanding anything.
She really finds it funny. They already broke up a year ago. Even if Garret dates another woman, Adrianna has no right to stop him from doing it. Garret is free to do everything he wants and Adrianna will be always there to support him.
But of course, Adrianna also knows to herself that she is only putting all of their issues under the rug and pretends that it is not exist at all. Both of them still have feelings for each other. But it is her who doesn't want to bring back their old relationship. She doesn't want to repeat the past when Garret was overly possessive of her and he wants her to be in his sight all the time.
Adrianna loves him. But there are still things she wants to do and achieve in her life. For her, a relationship will never work out if you only have feelings for each other. Both parties should do their parts and learn how to trust and respect each other's decisions.
Putting her phone on the table, Adrianna put her cat's toys inside a box and fix the pillows on the sofa. After that, she is about to go to the kitchen when someone rings the doorbell. She peeks through the peephole but Adrianna cannot see anyone. When the doorbell rings again, Adrianna attached the door chain first before opening it.
When Adrianna looks down, she sees a little girl dressed in a yellow duckling onesies. Her face is so round that can be easily compared to a stuffed meat bun. Her skin is also smooth and looks soft to touch because of her small chubby body. When their eyes meet, the little girl gives Adrianna a sweet smile and waves her chubby hand.
"Sister Adanna!"
Before Adrianna can react, a familiar voice suddenly talks behind that little girl.
"Tch. Why are you so stupid? I said her name is Adrianna, not Adanna."
"Oh. Okay, daddy!"
Adrianna quickly removes the door chain and lets her visitors enter her place.
"You already have a daughter, Jackson?" Adrianna asked as she watch her cousin gently pushing the chubby baby to get inside the place on her back.
"Hmm, yeah. It's a long story. But you can say that Lulu is now my daughter, I guess." Jackson replied.
"I see. Okay!"
"Anyway, are you not going to give me a hug?"
Without any hesitation, Adrianna gives her cousin a big hug. It's been months since she last saw Jackson in person. Either he is always out of their country or partying with his friends in different cities.
As for his explanation earlier, Adrianna just accepted her cousin's words to avoid any arguments and longer discussions. And besides, she is familiar with her cousin's temperament. If Jackson doesn't like that chubby baby, then he will dare to bring her with him. Adrianna tells them to wait in the living room first while she's getting them something to drink.
When she comes back, Adrianna sees the chubby baby playing with her cat on the carpeted floor. Captain Pluff is swaying his long tail in a leisurely way while the little girl is chasing and trying to catch it in her hands. Jackson is sitting lazily on the sofa while watching the two chubby creatures on the floor playing with each other. When the little girl sensed Adrianna's presence, she stops playing with Captain Pluff and quickly approached her.
"Sister Adanna, why is your cat wearing a cup?"
"It's not a cup, little girl. We called it E-collar. My cat has to use it because he just finished his surgery the other day." Adrianna patiently explained while putting the tray of drinks and snacks on the coffee table. "By the way, what's your name?"
"I'm Luyella! I'm five years old." The little girl replied and happily shows her five chubby fingers. "But my daddy calls me Lulu."
"Hello, Lulu. I am Adrianna. If you are having a hard time pronouncing my name, just call me sister Addie."
"Sister Addie!"
To her happiness, Lulu jumps toward Adrianna and hugs her. Taking this good opportunity, Adrianna returns the little girl's hug and gives her a little squeeze. As expected, she is really soft and cuddly. Jackson can only shake his head seeing that Adrianna and Lulu are quick to get along with each other.
