Chapter 14: A Storm Is Brewing

When I headed out of my room, I noticed Tidus look in my direction. He seemed a bit off, but he is probably still thinking about what we talked about last night. I just waved in his direction and headed outside. At this moment, I was debating on whether I wanted to go to the forest on the side of the road or wait until we could travel back here.

As of right now, I completed ice, fire, water, lightning, and earth on my sphere grid. I could delve into light or dark next. However, my answer was already chosen since light had healing magic in it. Although there was another element called holy, that delved even further down that path I would get to eventually.

There was a spell I needed in the light part before the crusaders decided to attack sin in their 'joint' operation. On that note, I decided to just grind materials on the road, since there were a few more areas we had before we got to the operation.

About two days later, we closed down operations in the hotel so we could continue our journey down the road. Eventually we reached the Al Bhed shop. Wakka and Auron had a slightly different conversation when Auron said he wanted to rest here. "Why can't we rest in the hotel ya? It's more comfortable there, and I don't fully trust that these Al Bhed weren't associated with the ones that kidnapped Yuna."

"I thought you said you didn't have an issue with the Al Bhed. And if you're worried about Yuna, then aren't you supposed to protect her as a guardian?" Wakka shut up after Auron made that statement, then we made our way inside.

I had already downloaded the full Al Bhed language. Apparently if I convert that into primers, I can instantly learn the language, so that is exactly what I did. I did the same for Lulu as well. Yuna knew most of the language already, so I just helped her with what she didn't know. I decided to take the lead on this one and show some courtesy to the Al Bhed receptionist.

It was the least I could do for how much technology I stole from their databases. Although that technology that I stole was technically taken from what they could salvage from older civilizations like Zanarkand.

I could somehow feel the weird look that Tidua and Auron were giving me when I spoke Al Bhed. Everyone else wasn't surprised though, even Wakka. That probably has to do with who I saved and raised for a while, years ago. We settled in for the night, and I summoned a few fairies and spirits to watch over the outside to warn me of when the chocobo eater would arrive ahead of time. Lulu's eyes were still glued to her one-piece manga. I just called it a night since I was pretty mentally tired.

At some point, I was woken up abruptly by one of my fire spirits. I quickly got up and inadvertently woke up Lulu. "Quick, we don't have much time. My spirits warned me of two powerful fiends rapidly approaching!" Lulu nodded at that and quickly got dressed, while I had my spirits warn everyone else, and I rushed downstairs.

[3rd Person POV]

Initially when the fire spirit warned Yole of the coming fiends, he was surprised that there weren't just two chocobo eaters, but three. One of them was lurking about and watching, while the other two were headed their way. One chocobo eater looked like the one encountered in the game, but the other two had red and purple accents encasing most of their body.

Also, the one lurking about had four arms, rather than just two. It was at that moment that Yole realized that this fight may be more difficult than he expected.

That didn't deter him though, but he was smiling instead. "Finally, things are starting to get interesting."

At the same time, Tidus woke up with a massive stir due to feeling a sudden cold, and a powerful gust hit his face. His eyes burst open, and he saw one of Yole's spirit summons hovering by. It was frantically trying to get him up.

The biggest warning, he got were the mini quakes happening outside from what he thought was a fiend. He quickly got dressed and grabbed a new sword that Yole made for him. It was metallic in nature, what a purple sheen glowing throughout the silver blade. After admiring the blade for a second more, he rushed out of his room, following behind the rest of the party.

When the party got outside, they saw firsthand that the chocobo eaters were headed towards the chocobo farm behind the inn they were staying at. One of the chocobo eaters saw the party and fired a beam of ice in their direction.

It glowed blue as it did so. The seemingly normal looking one was apparently attuned with ice. However, the beam of ice did not reach its target as a thick wall of flames blocked its path and melted the ice.

Once the wall of flames dispersed and the ice beam stopped, out came a large calvary of fire constructs from the steam wall caused by the clash. They charged forward to engage the first chocobo eater. The rest of the party set out to engage the second one that was still heading towards the chocobos.

"Ah, it's times like these that I should probably show off a bit." Yole looked towards the four-armed chocobo eater and decided to summon something new. Storm clouds started to form in the sky above Yole as a summoning circle was forming.

It had the head of an ancient animal at the center, baring its fangs. The summoning circle grew larger and larger, then a lightning bolt struck a distance in front of Yole. All of which was happening during the fight between two of the chocobo eaters.

"Come forth, Zuthiad!" Both of the fights almost stopped in place when everyone and each of the fiends saw what was summoned. Yole summoned a lightning-infused, T-Rex the size of bahamut, with wings of a dragon, and arms long enough to be used in a fight.

At that point it's not even a T-Rex anymore, but a chimera. Technicalities didn't seem to matter to Yole though, since he was grinning ear to ear at the summon, he got from the end of the lightning part of the sphere grid. It was silver in color and had black eyes.

"Zuthiad, do me a favor and take out that one sitting on the side for me. The one with four arms. Oh, and have fun!" Some of the party sweatdropped at that last remark from Yole as he waved off the lightning storm monstrosity on two legs, as it was already in front of the four-armed fiend faster than most of the party could blink. Zuthiad roared as it grabbed the fiend with both hands and charged a blast of lightning from its mouth it hit it directly in the face.

The chocobo eater was trying everything it could to get out of Zuthiad's grasp, but that only made it more excited to blow the fiend apart. When the beam was charged, Zuthiad tossed the fiend with one hand slightly into the air, tail whipped it further into the air, and blasted it with a beam that might as well have been the lightning version of the BFG from doom slayer. Zuthiad gave a big toothy grin when the fiend dissipated from the beam, then looked in the direction of the other two.

It was disappointed to find both of the other fiends dissipating as well, so it went back over to Yole as he rubbed its snout, then Yole desummoned it.

"Holy crap Yole! What even was that?!" Mr. Golden chocobo on two legs asked the age-old question that everyone was thinking. Even Lulu and Yuna wanted to know the answer.

"I gained access to that summon yesterday and have been itching to try it out. I'm not sure what it is either, but what I do know is that it is one of a kind, and I can't summon multiple of it. But just think about it, I can summon a being that powerful now, and I haven't even reached half of my full potential!" When Yole finished speaking, most of the party went wide-eyed at the implications of that statement.

If he was this powerful now, what would he be like later on? What else could he summon? Could any of Yuna's current summons even compared to that thing right now? Many thoughts went through the party members' heads, but one thing was for sure, they were thankful to Yole, because if he wasn't here, the fight would have been much more difficult. Yole walked over to where the chocobo eaters were and picked up a few orbs of interest from them. Two dark orbs, one fire orb, and three ice orbs.

These orbs were useful since Yole could use them to empower his summons. "Ah, Sir Yole. Thank you so much for saving the chocobos!" Rin, the owner of the inn, yelled out and walked over to the party.

"Thanks to you, we can continue renting out chocobos. Would all of you like to ride some chocobos to your current destination? First time is free of charge of course!" Yole and his party took Rin up on his offer and decided to ride chocobos to their destination. Yole laughed at Tidus and Wakka though because the only thing he was thinking of at the time was: 'A chocobo riding a chocobo huh?'

[Yole's POV]

After everyone mounted chocobo's we headed forward down the road. Of course, I took the side path to get the available chest. Then we headed towards Mushroom rock road. As expected though, our path was blocked by the crusaders. Then in record time, before that other summoner lady I forgot the name of showed up, the disgusting prick with psychic pokemon trainer styled hair and showing off his terrible fashion sense showed up to let us through. He tried appealing to Yuna but I wasn't having it.

"So, we meet Lady Yuna." This dude just screams Orochimaru vibes I swear.

"Yes?" Yuna didn't even bow or show much respect to the creep. I'm so proud that I'm crying tears of joy on the inside.

"You seem troubled, is there anything I can do?" After the bad fashioned sense stalker creep asked that question, Yuna motioned to the path ahead of them, and Seymour, ugh just saying his name gives me the creeps, went to talk to the crusader blocking us.

He did look in my direction for a short moment, then smiled at me before heading towards that crusader though. The damn smile gave me chills. I am definitely taking several showers once we stop on mushroom rock road for a bit before we get to the operation.

Eventually, the crusader allowed us to pass, and Seymour walked off. Yuna muttered a thank you, but it was very disingenuous. I'm glad she doesn't like him just as much as I don't. Heck, I'm pretty sure I saw venom in her eyes when she looked at his back. Once we started on the road path, we saw dark, dreary, blue, and creepy make his fake speech to the crusaders and Al Bhed.

Afterwards he gave his greetings to everyone, giving that normal speech to all of them about how the operation would be like, and why the crusaders and Al Bhed are working together. However, in this instance, Wakka didn't question why Machina is being used against sin, however, Asta did. Interestingly enough, she asked the same questions he did in the game, but to a lesser extent since she has been around me long enough to understand the necessity of machina in day-to-day life.

Seymour had the same rebuttals as in the game. Eventually our conversation was coming to a close, but then he said something that actually threw me off a bit. "I would love to have a conversation with Yuna's first guardian one day. I'm sure there are plenty of things for us to talk about." He didn't look towards Kimahri when he said that. He looked towards me. I raised an eyebrow but didn't react outwardly beyond that.

Seymour nodded, then let us be as he headed off. He shouldn't know that I was the first guardian of Yuna. What else does he know? Does he know Yuna's true relationship with me? With her actual father? Well, if he knows, then cats outta the bag on that one. I just shrug my shoulders and don't let it get to me as we head further down the road. Once we reached a crossroads, a crusader came up to us.

"Excuse me, Lady Summoner Yuna. Maester Seymour requests your presence at the command center. We are still preparing the other path, sorry. Please head towards the path on the left." With that, he ran off on the path he told us to go before Yuna could respond. I heard her audibly make a noise that I wasn't expecting. Did she just…click her tongue? Damn Yuna, I know how he really is, but what the heck has you so annoyed with him? I'm fairly certain she doesn't even know his true personality.
