Chapter 19: Pillow Talk (2)
Oxy put the puddings and drinks from the refrigerator onto a tray. She turned around and then was surprised by Darren. The boy might have come sneakily because there was no sound that he made before.
"She... is here?" Darren asked enthusiastically.
"Selena? Yes," replied Oxy nonchalantly. She took a step, but Darren blocked her way.
"Why didn't you bring her down?"
"What for?" asked Oxy surprised.
"Well, you guys can eat snacks here..." Darren reasoned. "So weird. How can you be friends with such a beautiful girl? It's not fair, you know! She shouldn't be friends with you! You made her look weird at school!" He protested. Not surprisingly, Darren had become one of Selena's fans.
Oxy rolled her eyes. Then she rushed, passing away from Darren. She ran towards the stairs.
Darren shouted angrily at her. "I watch you, Oxy!" he exclaimed.
Oxy just ignored it. She jumped the stairs fastly. She returned to her room, then locked the door. She didn't want to let her guard down, who knew Darren would try to eavesdrop or something? She placed the tray on the floor which Selena immediately rushed to her.
Even though it was already night, Selena still wanted to fill her stomach.
"Your description isn't clear, Selena," Oxy said, looking back at the map. She had been trying to guess the location where Selena woke up when entered Cerebra.
Just like what happened to Oxy, Selena remembered the first thing when she entered the Cerebra dimension. Selena also passed the gate that said: "Welcome to Cerebra". But that's all, after that Selena remembered nothing. Only the fog and Uron who hunted her that she could not forget.
"That's all I remember," Selena chewed her pudding enthusiastically. "But I'm sure about the yellow house."
Selena was sure that every time she went back into the dimension, she saw a yellow house or maybe a building. Unfortunately neither Oxy nor Lexa know what building it was.
Oxy sighed.
"Why? Does that mean I don't have to go back there?" Selena asked immediately.
"No, I think you should come back to know more about your location."
"Wha-what?" Selena gaped, the pudding spoon slipping from her fingers. "You're going to let me go there? alone?" She protested, then took the spoon to finish her pudding.
"I'll be here to wake you up," Oxy said. "What do you think?"
Selena shook her head. "Oxy, that's a bad idea. What if Uron eats my head? My mom will be sad if I die."
"I told you, I'll wake you up. No one will die."
"What if I can't wake up?"
"You'll wake up, just believe me."
It was Selena's turn to sigh.
"Come on, Selena. You have to be brave. For your dad's sake. We might be able to prove your dad didn't do anything wrong."
Oxy was glad her words had worked for Selena.
"You're right," Selena quickly shifted her already finished pudding bowl. "Okay, how do I get into that dimension?"
"Just lay down," Oxy said.
Selena immediately laid down on Oxy's bed. "Then?"
"We don't have to wait until we fall asleep," Oxy conveyed what she had learned. "Just think you want to enter the Cerebra dimension, then you will enter it."
Selena looked at her in confusion. "Okay, I'll try."
"Good." Oxy looked back at the map, still trying to guess which buildings could be had a yellow color.
"Are you asleep?" Oxy noticed the silence in her room.
Selena didn't answer. Oxy's theory was proven. Selena had entered the dimension. For a few moments nothing happened, the next minute Selena started jerking, screaming under her breath.
"Selena! Wake up!" Called Oxy immediately.
For a moment Oxy was afraid of Selena. Selena continued to breathe heavily, cold sweat forming on her forehead. The girl might have been running inside her dream. Her legs were jerking all of a sudden.
"Selena!" Oxy put all her strength into pulling Selena up. She shook Selena's shoulder hardly.
Finally, Selena opened her eyes, she looked like she was about to choke. Her mouth opened, then coughed.
Oxy immediately got up to take a glass of drink. She thrust the glass to Selena's lips. Selena took a sip to ease the panic that was still engulfing her.
"Are you okay?" asked Oxy, worriedly.
"Of course not!" groaned Selena, looking angry.
Oxy smiled wryly, at least Selena was telling the truth.
"You met Uron?"
"Met?" Selena widened her eyes in disbelief. "You think we're old friends?! Not only met! They also invited me to play chase!"
Oxy had experienced that before so she knew exactly how panicked she was when being chased by Uron. Just opened her eyes, and Uron was already in front of her, chasing her.
Running aimlessly in the fog was not a pleasant experience.
Suddenly Oxy remembered. Cerebra wasn't foggy when Selena entered because it was nighttime. Of course, there was no barrier for Uron to find Selena's presence.
"I'm sorry," Oxy felt guilty because she had forced Selena, even though Selena was still not ready.
Selena waved her hand, a sign that she didn't want to discuss anything. Oxy let Selena recharge by eating the pudding. The pudding was for Oxy, but she just let her eat.
Oxy decided to wait for Selena until she was ready to tell the story of what happened inside. She fiddled with her laptop, hoping to have a clue to be able to open the file on Mr. Dome's flash disk.
"What are you doing?" Finally, Selena noticed Oxy.
"Nothing," replied Oxy immediately. "This is a file from your father. He told me to get his flash disk from the principal's office before he was arrested. But the file can't be opened with any application."
"Let me see," Selena immediately poked her head to the screen. But only for a moment, she gave up in seconds.
"Why does he have to be so mysterious?" Selena asked irritatingly. "Can't he just tell us without playing riddles? We are not detectives!"
"How do I know? He's your father."
"Foster dad," Selena corrected firmly.
"Still, he is already like your own father, he took care of you since childhood."
Selena rolled her eyes. "Whatever," she said. "But that's ridiculous. You'd be better suited to be my father's adopted daughter. He likes mysteries and so do you."
Oxy thought of Bill who was so ordinary. They never did exciting activities like solving puzzles or any games that Oxy liked. Bill prefers to spend time fishing when he got his vacation time. Even Darren didn't like going on vacations with his father.
"How about coming to my apartment's Dad tomorrow? Maybe we can find something on his computer."
Oxy didn't think about that possibility at all. That was true. Selena had extensive access to Mr. Dome because she was his adopted child.
"You're right. But can I come over there?"
"Why not?" Selena asked back. "That house also belongs to my mother. You don't have to worry about that."
Oxy nodded in agreement.
"Let's go to sleep," said Selena, who had already taken the bottle of green pill medicine.
Oxy was a little disappointed because they still couldn't guess Selena's position when entered the dimension.
But it's better not to rush. Selena was still not ready and she didn't want Selena to get hurt.
Oxy took the green pill. The pill ran out, and they still didn't know how to stop the nightmare without the pill.[]
