Chapter 32: Aftermath Of Wiki’s Invasion
Successfully invading Wiki, the leaders of the invading army gave the citizen and surrendered soldiers an ultimatum, "Stay and help Biyou grow or leave and migrate further into Sotu,".
Those that choose to leave had to leave with nothing but the clothes on their back, those that stayed were put into different categories, slaves or miners. Most of the surrendered soldiers that stayed were tasked to become a worker in the mines.
Some Biyou soldiers were tasked to stay back in Wiki while some were tasked to head back. Chan was tasked to head back with Boyo's squad.
On their march to go back to Mas, Chan still didn't know anyone too well so he was walking all by himself without talking to anyone.
"Hey, kid!" shouted a voice far in front of Chan.
Chan paid it no mind as it was someone looking for someone else.
( Thump! Thump! )
Coming from in front of the group of soldiers marching, Ike Co came back to the end of the marching line to stop and talk to Chan, "Kid, I want you to talk with the captain later as I think you would be a great addition to our squad.".
"Thank you, but I'm good for now," Chan responded.
"Well, don't forget that we, the Boyo Squad invited you to our group first. Also if you haven't noticed your name is being brung up a lot since the invasion. People are saying you were the spearhead that lead to the quick success of the invasion," Ike Co told Chan.
Chan thought to himself, "So that is why people kept looking at me earlier.".
"Well I was just tasked to ask you if you wanted to join, anyways let's hope for a quick and safe trip back," said Ike Co as he sped up to get back to the front of the marching line.
Seeing ike Co walk away, Chan could see the broad shoulders of Ike Co. Ike Co was not only very muscular but he was huge, Chan measured him to be at least 6'7. Unlike Chan's straight medium length hair, Ike Go had short and spiky hair.
After a long journey, they eventually made it back to Mas.
Before going their separate ways, the invasion army stopped by the military post to receive their rewards.
Waiting in line, Chan was almost dead last as the line was organized by the military hierarchy.
Seeing everyone get their rewards, it was finally Chan's turn to be at the front of the line.
Working behind the counter of the military post was the bookkeeper of En Spo. The bookkeeper followed and stayed at the Biyou invasion army's HQ to keep track of the significant achievements of the soldiers.
Boyo was given the highest achievement as he was the one to kill the enemy head commander in Wiki.
"Name?" the bookkeeper asked.
"Chan In," answered Chan.
"Oh, the book said you were young, they weren't lying. Anyways the promised 5 silvers will be given plus additional rewards. Those additional rewards are given based on your achievements, your achievements are: destroying the front gate, joining hands with the second-in-command of the Boyo Squad to eradicate those Sotu soldiers inside of the city, and lastly locating the enemy headquarters. Those achievements are equal to 2 gold and 20 silvers. So In total, your amount owed is 2 gold and 25 silvers," the bookkeeper told Chan.
Chan was in disbelief to hear the amount owed to him.
"Thank you so much," Chan told the bookkeeper with a huge grin on his face.
"No need to thank me as those are money that you earned, So will you like to stay registered in the army or will you wait and register again later on?" the bookkeeper asked Chan.
"I would like to stay registered," Chan answered the bookkeeper's question.
( Tick! Tick! )
The bookkeeper placed all of Chan's coins in a bag and handed it to him and told him, "I hope to see you again.". Chan nodded his head and head off to find a nearby inn.
The achievements of war are all written in a book. The kingdoms had a system where they transfer information back and forth about a soldier as a way to update their status and fame. The kingdoms focused so heavily on the system because it created the same effect of a soldier being able to become a celebrity based on their achievements. It was also a way for young men to be inspired to become famous soldiers and become a pawn for the kings.
Chan In's war profile got updated. Chan in went from 0 experience to spearhead of the Wiki invasion.
Finding a decent inn, Chan checked in and went to his room. Leaving his stuff in the room and leaving, Chan came back after taking a bath.
( Ploof! )
Chan lay on the bed and thought about what had all just happened. Taking his time processing all of the things he did during the invasion, Chan couldn't help but feel guilty for the evil deeds he did, "I probably killed someone's son or father,". "It was them or me and I can't die yet," Chan said to himself trying to justify his actions.
"Yea it's them or me," Chan whispered to himself as he slowly drowns himself with the same mentality as those in the world that he is currently in.
Chan got up and checked his bag of coins to see how much money he had. He could remember the joy he felt when he received his earnings so he thought to himself, "So this is what the Crimson Reapers must've felt when they collected their earnings.".
( Ploof! )
Laying back on his bed, Chan told himself, "Let's go to bed and not think too much as I'm too tired right now.".
Letting go of all his thoughts, Chan was once again able to sleep on a bed.
( Bang! Bang! )
Chan opened his eyes, instead of being woken up in the morning by the birds, Chan was woken up in the middle of the night by a loud banging noise.
( Bang! Creak! Creak! )
"Now, what the hell is that?" Chan said out loud.
( Creak! Bang! Creak! )
Chan noticed the sound was coming from next door. Chan placed his ear on the wall.
( Creak! Creak! Creak! )
"Who's the strongest? Hu hu, tell me who's the strongest?" Chan could hear a male voice say as he was breathing heavily.
"Oou ah, you are, you're the strongest!" Chan could hear a female voice moaning as she responded to the man.
Mad that he woke up from his hard earn sleep ( lonely ), Chan banged back on the wall and yelled, "Hey! Keep your f*cking down please, as I just came back from battle and just want some SLEEP!".
"Maybe we should keep it down," the female voice whispered.
"Haha, I just came back from battle too, what is your name if you don't mind sharing?" the male voice asked in a mocking tone.
"Chan In," Chan responded.
The tone of the man changed real quick, "I'm so sorry, I'll try to keep it down. Thank you for what you did for us.".
( Ploof! )
Laying on the bed Chan thought to himself, "Maybe it is time to save up for a house.".
Sleeping soundly as the two stopped in the other room as the guy in the room went soft as he was too scared of Chan to continue. Instead of waking up in the dead of night again, Chan woke up to the morning birds singing.
( Chirp! Chirp! )
"Yawn! Now that is something I can wake up to," said Chan as he got out of bed.
Going down to the bathhouse to wash himself and scrub his teeth, Chan then left the inn to go look for a house.
"Excuse me, do you know where the real estate offices are?" Chan asked an old lady passing by the inn.
"Yes I do," answered the old lady before she gave Chan the directions to the real estate office.
"Thank you so much," said Chan as he handed the old lady a silver coin and left for the real estate office.
