Chapter 3: Status
(A/N: Since I thought it wasn't suitable for an assassin novel, I changed the MC's race to a black dragon and gave her the memories of her former body owner.)
"Why was Jack convicted of my murder?" Ayla inquired as she cast a cold glance at Cynthia.
[I-I might have provided evidence, so he would be labeled as your murderer, so they would wrap up the case and move on.] Cynthia uttered those words while breaking out in a cold sweat.
"That isn't an excuse; having me killed and giving me my killer's body is something I can tolerate and won't make me angry, but the fact that you chose to frame my friend for my murder is something I will never be able to forgive you for." Ayla spoke as a dense aura of total darkness enveloped her as Ayla fixated on her with cold crimson eyes.
[I'm sorry, please forgive me. I didn't want them to pursue the case any further.] Cynthia expressed regret in her voice.
"Still, the fact that you did it." Ayla said as she noticed that her anger was steadily fading away thanks to a cool energy.

[Thank you for your forgiveness; I'll never do it again.] Cynthia said as she dispelled the wall and said with an apologetic expression.
"I appreciate your apology, but it will be very difficult to win back my love for you." Ayla said as she looked at her in the eye with a serious expression.
[I'll change that impossibility to a possibility.] Cynthia said with determination.
"When will the assassinations begin?" Ayla asked out of interest.
[You'll start in two days since you need time to adjust to your new body before I send you on them.] Cynthia said with a smile.
"Makes sense, but I have a system, right?" Ayla asked with a smile.
[Yes, just say the word "status" and it will appear in your vision.] Cynthia said, smiling.
"Status." Ayla muttered.

"Are you suggesting that the essence you gave me is turning me into a succubus?" Ayla inquired with an irritated look.

"No wonder she survived her near-death experience. However, it also explains why she disliked you." Ayla said the moment certain things were made clear.

Ayla checked some of her skills descriptions, so she didn't have to listen to her.

"I'll probably use this less often since it's costly but useful." Ayla smiled as she thought.

[Why are you acting so depressed? You won't have to experience pain any longer, so why not be glad?] Cynthia, who has the skill and enjoys it, inquired with curiosity.
"I'm not a succubus like you, so why would I like to get sexual pleasure from pain?" Ayla said as she looked at her through a holographic screen that was displayed next to Ayla's status panel.
[You will, though.] Cynthia said, with a sexy look.
"Enough of that, I still have a few skills to check." Ayla said as she disregarded Cynthia's comment, which caused her to pout.
'I don't need to read the descriptions of Calm Mind, Shadow Constructs, Dream Constructs, Life Force Absorption, or Supernatural Beauty since they are all self-explanatory.' Ayla thought, smiling as she closed her system panel.
