Chapter 2: Mental Core activated
- WOOOSH - The world around Mars changed leaving only a black nothingness. Mars looked into something he couldn't describe. It felt like a monster was looking from this deep abyss of void at him. Some strange white lights were gathering there, slowly forming a structure. They looked like long worms or rather eels. After a while a oval shape formed at the gathering spot blinding Mars and he needed to adapt for a few minutes until he could see something.
"What is this? A cracked egg?" Mars saw a giant white egg that had a lot of claw marks on it, as if a tiger had recently used it as a scratching post. There also seemed to be missing some parts, like they were shattered away.
... MENTAL CORE INSTABILITY DETECTED ... REPAIRING IN PROCESS ... REPAIRING FAILED ... NEED MANUAL HELP ... REPAIRING IN PROCESS ...
- Tssss - Mars felt an intense pain in his mind as if something was putting his brain on ice.
White light was flowing out of his orfices, gathering in front of him and forming a strange shape.
Looking at it Mars found that it might fit into a hole from the egg.
"Am I supposed to help the repairing Process? Well here goes nothi -" Mars was suddenly pushed back at the moment he tried to touch that strange shape.
... INCOMPATIBLE ENERGY FORM DETECTED ... INITIATING ADAPTATION ... CHANGING AFFINITY TO COSMICAL ENERGY ...
"Not aga -" An intense pain suddenly erupted from Mars brain and spine, flowing through his entire body, every cell was constantly mutating and dividing itself at a highly dangerous speed, trying to reassemble his body into something new. He was also emmitting a new form of energy waves, that were now pulsating in this strange space. After an eternity the process stopped and an exhausted Mars fell on the floor.
... ADAPTATION COMPLETE ... AQUIRED NEW AFFINITY WITH COSMICAL ENERGY ... CONGRATULATIONS - YOU ARE NOW AN INTERSTELLAR SPECIES - SPACE HUMAN (MIND AND ENERGY) ...
Mars tried to muster up all the strenght he had right now to get back on his knees. Despite his poor body condition his mind was clear and the black nothingness was even clearer, revealing thousands of little lights. It looked like the night sky.
He stayed in that position for a while trying to get used to those changes. His senses got more accurate, his mind sharper and his thought process faster and with that he would be able to do something no man has ever achieved before: multitask.
After getting his strenght back he stood back up and took another look at the strange "shard" in front of him. It felt cold and sharp in his hands like a knife ready for use.
He was ready to put it back in place and took a step forward to the egg.
- Tsss - Something else was attacking his mind now and it came from that bizzare egg.
It assaulted his mind and tried to stop him from forcefully repairing it.
It was like an old adopted dog, not willing to accept its new master.
With every step it hurt more and more, but Mars had only one option - going forward.
He stopped, then advanced and stopped again, gradually adapting himself to this new sensation and gaining more and more resistence.
... ERROR ... MANUAL ADAPTATION INITIATED ... RESILIENCE GAINED ... CONGRATULATIONS - YOU RESISTED THE MENTAL ASSAULT ... WILLPOWER ENHANCED ... MANUAL ADAPTATION COMPLETED ...
"Nice!" After about 15 minutes, Mars reached the core and pushed the shard into it. It slid right in.
- RUMBLE - "Woah!" A sudden earthquake, or rather spacequake erupted around the egg. Everything trembled and the deep claw marks gradually weakened, now looking like scars.
... MENTAL CORE REPAIRING SUCCESSFULL ... COMPLETION RATE: 56% ... BASIC FUNCTIONS AVAILABLE ... REQUIREING FURTHER REPAIRING ... MENTAL LINK ESTABLISHED ... MIND SPACE AVAILABLE ... CONGRATULATIONS - ACCEPTING MENTAL WAY OF ADAPTATION - GRANTING A STRONG MIND ...

... FURTHER INSTRUCTIONS REQUIRED ... DO YOU WISH TO ASSEMBLE YOUR MIND SPACE AND ACCESS IT NOW? ...

... INITIATING MANUAL ADAPTATION ... ASSEMBLING MIND SPACE ... BETTER BE PREPARED FOR IT ...
At the back of Mars mind a space was forming. Again an incredible pain surged through his head, leaving him struck and mindless like a puppet having no control of his body. He felt as if submerged under water. His thoughts just flowed inside his head, not being able to control his thought process at all.
The pain lasted only for a moment but the feeling for an eternity. Long enough to break anyones mind.
... MANUAL ADAPTATION CONPLETED ... COMPLETION RATE 87% ... CONGRATULATIONS ON ASSEMBLING YOUR MIND SPACE ... ACCESSING MIND SPACE ... HAVE FUN ...
Mars suddenly woke up from his deep like slumber finally being able to moves his body again and think clearly. The process was so extreme that he felt helpless and crazy during it, even losing consciousness multiple times.
The place he now found himself in, was just as bizarre as the Mental Core Space. This time it was of a pure white that extended endlessly.
"Finally... I think I need some time to -"
He suddenly felt a chill crawl down his spine as if he was being watched by two eyes that pierced his heart.
... DANGER DETECTED?! ... UNKNOWN ENTITY ENTERING MIND SPACE! ... NO STOPPING POSSIBLE ... GOOD LUCK ...
The space around Mars warped, trapping him in place. "Sh*t!"

MetaShadow Mars's thoughts: "Assembling my Mind Space felt like I was in a deep ocean, not being able to breathe or move my body under that insane pressure... and the worst of all was that it took so long... would it have been a bit longer I would have gone nuts."
