Chapter 68: Training and studying - 2
" Your step father Ares." Alex said. He was actually going to say the name of Claude's father but decided this was not the right time.
" He always used to compete but in the end he lost." Alex said in nostalgia.
" What do you mean ?" Claude asked, a bit confused.
" Firstly let me introduce myself again to you. My name is Alex Silver, a spear saint and just like you a dual wielder. My disciplines are Magic warrior, array master and a priest. I graduated from the imperial academy 5 years ago." It was more like a portfolio for a job rather than a small self introduction.
" As long as you are staying here I am going to teach you the basics of magic warrior discipline." Alex said.
" Actually I wanted to ask this for a long time but why did you agree to teach me the basics of a disciple ?" What Claude asked was actually something really serious.
This empire has many private academies with the most prestigious public academies but no one takes a disciple and directly affiliates with the academies. The reason is actually pretty simple. They don't want the talented individuals to stay hidden from the country. That's why they have enforced some laws related to taking private disciples.
It is preferred to send your disciple to at least one of the many academies of the empire. If not possible the disciple must give his support to the empire in any way possible, mostly the army. If you don't want to disclose anything about your disciple then you must at the very least register him to the adventurers guild.
Mostly no one does it because they will have to bear grudges from all the academies and most specifically why would anyone even want to share their magical legacy ? These laws are created for families like Orsini who want to pass on their spells to their descendants.
" Haha, it seems you really are knowledgeable about a lot of things." Alex continued with a smile.
" The thing is Claude that even among magic users magic warriors are pretty. None of the magic users wants to improve their body and try ranking systems. If I tell you the truth, they even look down upon ranking people because they think they are truly talented and chosen people who have the right to grow strong."
" Someone even willing to learn magic warrior is so rare that someone like you who is a master rank as well as a tier 3 mage is considered a genius. That's why I specifically took a letter of approval from my master in the imperial academy to teach you. You can say that every magic warrior is willing to do anything and everything just to increase the numbers of magic warriors."
" That's why when I told my professor that there is someone like you who is mage as well as a ranker he wanted me to give you positive thinking about the magic warrior discipline. So that if you get admitted in the imperial academy he can take you in as a disciple." Alex said with a helpless smile like he was forced to say that.
" Well, except for that I also want to teach you. I have never seen a genius- sorry, a monster like you." Alex said with a slight smile.
" What do you mean monster ?" Claude asked, annoyed.
" Your father didn't tell me, I clearly recognise you as a monster. Anyway a genius is someone who can learn everything without the need of help. If he is guided correctly he will become way stronger than you'd expect but haven't we seen many geniuses fail ?" Alex continued.
" A monster can never fail. The reason why you are a monster is because you have that hunger and curiosity for wisdom and strength like no one. This term means that no matter how many times you fail you will never give up. That's just how your mind works I think." Alex concluded.
Claude nodded his head because he didn't know that this was actually a compliment. Claude thought that this was just one of the many names that have been formed for him.
He didn't understand this term quite clearly but Claude ignored it as he thought that wasn't important right now.
" Then shall we start your training?" Alex asked with a smile.
" So let me just explain to you what is meant by magic warrior discipline. You have seen weapons used with techniques, footwork and brutality. Magic warrior discipline also gives a particular technique but remember that it is a path as well."
" You will understand how this discipline works slowly but steadily. So before that there is a condition that we need to complete and that is to reach the saint rank."
" I won't help you on how to reach the saint rank but I will give you the proper goal to walk towards. Just like master rank allows technique which allows the mana to infuse in your particular body part, saint rank allows you to infuse mana to your weapon. I won't tell you anything else except for that because I know in one way or the other you will reach the saint rank on your own. I will tell you once you reach the sword saint rank." Alex concluded with a smile.
Claude frowned because he knew that reaching the master rank took him more than 2 years, now he has to reach saint rank on his own and at the same time he has a time limit. Maybe being Awakened might help him but he also has to follow the same advice he had given to Elise and that is that knowing something and understanding something doesn't mean that you can use it. Even if you can use it you need experience to make that thing completely yours.
