Chapter 4: Either a Coward or Fearless
Victor looked at the system to try checking for his abilities and their uses. He also saw a rusty knife lying near him so he reached out to it and grab it.

'Hmm... this knife looks weak but it's kinda sharp like those knives chief use to cut meat with extreme precision. It can probably cut through flesh and bones with ease.' victor while checking the knife status in his hands.
'Can I keep it in the Subspace but how do I store this thing?' thought victor. He tried to move that knife from his hand to a feeling that he had as if an imaginary space was in front of him and he can just throw stuff there and it worked perfectly. He tried a couple of times and got used to it. 'Nice, it is a perfect replication of the subspace described in the novel and games.' victor was happy that he could store stuff and not have to carry it around always.
'Why am I not panicking or feeling anxious' thought victor as everyone was scared shitless and having panic attacks while he just felt like it was his daily job. This weird feeling started to make him feel weird and creepy but a smoothing effect took place all over the body as if a person who was sitting in the sun all day felt getting into the water to cool down the body.
All the tension in his body and soul felt washed up. Victor felt surprised and looked at his system message.

'This thing is really useful for the future, Also it is helping me with stabilizing my emotion to help me think rationally' thought victor while looking at the ability like a prized gem because he has a bad history with his emotion like fear of loneliness, darkness, height, anxiety, and blood. In a world where killing might be necessary, backing up from fear of blood or gore is not accepted and can be the reason for his death.
Victor looked at the chat and saw that the people are talking about the arrow in the sky, some speculation was out of saying it was a safe zone or quest like that. He also looked up and saw that there is an arrow pointing toward the direction of the forest.
Victor also thought about it and find it feasible that it might be pointing toward a safe location. He started to walk in the direction of the forest as just standing here ain't gonna do no good for him.
Victor has already put all the things in his system storage, He also looked at the chat for more information that people might share of their journey as it might help in his survival.
As Victor got closer to the forest he saw that the tree branches almost covered all of the skies with little or no light passing through them. The passage through the forest looks dark even though it's like the middle of the day, With the determination to overcome the fear and stop being a fucking pussy and act like a man, Victor set off inside the forest with vigilant to react at any given time to the slightest sound.
Victor started to walk through the giant trees and brush. Though the forest looks dark, it also looks like it was easier to see even though it's dark as night. There was natural light in the forest as some of the plants were glowing blue and making the environment scenario beautiful with a peaceful ambiance to it.
'Don't know why but this forest has a vibe of peacefulness and beauty making anyone walking let their guard down and enjoy the mood.' thought victor as he was feeling the peaceful mood but suddenly that feeling disappear after a sudden notification of the use of the ability.

'Does this forest make people feel safe but why?' thought victor as it was suspicious at first but now the constant ringing of use of the ability is making him feel dreadful as if someone is trying hard to make him feel safe and secure. 'It isn't always good to enjoy peace as it makes one weak to danger' thought victor as he suddenly came to halt because he saw something that he has never seen in his life.
A big body covered in fur with only its eyes glowing in the dark. A body more massive than a normal human, its eyes were practically glowing golden color with the body fur almost letting no light pass through it. As victor saw the monster he freeze in his path and tried his best to not make noise and hid behind the tree.
He peeked through the side of the tree to look at the monster in the distance walking in a certain direction away from his location. 'This guy looks massive, is it a big foot or what? This thing is almost taller than 7 ft. If this guy sees me I am dead with my status lower than a normal person. It could probably crush my skull with those arms.' thought victor as he saw that the monster was facing its back to him.
Victor slowly stepped back to not get caught by that thing. As he was moving toward a tree behind him a huge roar came behind him as the monster started to run in a direction and jump almost 2 stories with ease.
Victor was scared shitless but the skill came to play and calm his mind. He saw the monster going to his right toward a position behind a tree that was almost a few meters distance from him seeing this he was sure it wasn't him but he was curious what could make that thing attract its attention.
like curiosity kills a cat, Victor got too much curious and felt that it might be something important and started to walk behind the big guys hiding behind the trees. The beast jumped toward a clearing in the jungle.
Victor was behind it but he was gasping for a breather as he had bad stamina. He saw that the thing ran into a cave and started to roar as if angry at something. victor ran to the cave entrance and quietly with quick feet started to go down the entrance.
Victor followed the sound of the beast moving and stomping its feet. He stopped after reaching near a cliff overlooking the area the beast was roaring and smashing the fist against something fleshy. After looking over the cliff, Victor saw that beast was fighting a giant snake almost big as today's world record of the largest snake being almost 10 meters. The beast was pounding its chest with its big arm like beating a war drum to prepare a soldier for war.
Victor was shocked when he saw that the giant gorilla and a snake were starting to fight as it's almost like a scene in the Hollywood of kong fighting a giant lizard. Victor was enjoying the show as he got a window ticket for a realistic fighting scene.
The big guy stomps its feet on the ground and roars loud enough to almost damage victor's eardrum in the process. As victor was dizzy from the roar, the gorilla almost immediately charged ahead and pull its fist back to deliver a full-power punch to the snake head and smash it into a meat patty.
The snake also leaps at the gorilla with its head first. A head and fist connected but the snake's power was the same as the gorilla and there was no damage to its head. Both of them started to attack each other as the snake spits venom at the gorilla's eye to blind its opponent. The gorilla put its arm around its eyes for protection but turn out it was a wrong decision as the snake bit the arm and release its poison into the bloodstream.
The gorilla got mad after getting bit and its eyes turn red with anger and rage. It also tightly grabbed the snake's head and put its fang out of its arm and threw the head to the ground and started to stump its head like a madman. It didn't stop until some brain matter scattered around the cave painting the walls red, green, and white. The snake body was still moving and wrapping around the gorilla's body but it couldn't put much force and the gorilla broke from its grasp and started to clam down.
As it started to calm down the poison that was released in its body started to take effect making it feel sleepy and tired, as most of its left arm is black from the spreading of the venom making its left arm and part of its body useless. Victor watched all this from the high ground and was shocked by the amount of power both of these beings have also it was kind of a thriller for him to watch two giants fight. Note: The fight only lasted a few seconds but you can imagine how much venomous that snake was. Enough to kill a human in a second making it an easy snack for the snake.
He looked at the gorilla and saw that it was limping and couldn't stand straight but still going inside a hole from where the snake came. victor also change his position to take a clear look and was shocked to see the cave shining with rocks that almost look like diamonds but he was even more shocked as the beast was going to a lake filled with water to drink it.
Victor's eyes were shining with greed as in his life he was too of a much poor before and seeing something that shiny was appetizing for him. As he was eyeing the rock, a notification came from the system.
[Quest acquired]
[Mission: kill the Giagantious ape]
[reward: 1000 coins and unlock talents]
[Note: failure can cause the death of the host after the Target is healed]
'What? I have to kill that thing and failure is death.' thought victor as he saw the gorilla was gonna drink the water. He was panicking but suddenly felt a calm aura surround him making him think rationally and found it feasible to kill that thing.
'either it's you or me buddy, no offense but I love my life more because I have to save someone at all cost' thought victor while his eyes glow blue with determination and also because of his skills activation. If that gorilla wasn't poisoned and dizzy then it would have felt victor's sharp killing intent that even he didn't know he was emitting.
'Either I become a coward and run away or fight it while it's distracted, and I am sure as hell I cannot outrun this thing if it ran full speed at me, so killing it is' said victor while thinking of ways to kill that damn thing without much injury and possibly surviving after the attack. 'No way that monster gonna let me land a strike without a counter-attack of its own.'
Guess all that torture on the earth made him accept the reality of killing or is it the skill or something else none knows?
