Chapter 43: Toronto: Cheating

The play went off without a hitch.

It seemed to be the mastermind of tablaeu's intention to make it that way in case Wolfe Fang doesn't die.

Further adding to the suspicion that it was indeed someone from the theater troupe who did it.

"The man that was found in the debris of 4th Street's abandoned property was Brian Fox. He was not from here, he's from South Yorkshire, England."

He had called in Teddy Han again to look into details for him. Teddy delivers better and faster this time as Europe data was his expertise.

"He is 58 years old, widower. Wife and children died at plane accident 7 years ago. Member of Alcoholics Anonymous, also had several records of attempted suicide."

"And criminal records?" Leon asked.

"Non-existent. This was a straightlaced man working as an office worker until he disappeared 3 years ago."

"Disappeared?" Leon asked.

"He suddenly did not go to the office anymore. No longer in his house. He lives alone, it was only his sister that reported he was missing, and the case was never solved."

"We even have a Yellow Notice on him, I just checked."

Interpol issues several notices in different colors.

Red Notice were the most common, issued for wanted criminals and fugitives on the run.

Yellow Notices were for missing people, usually children, or for people who cannot identify themselves. For example people with amnesia, or lost children that grew with no identity.

"I wonder how his sis will react if she found her big bro was on the other side of the Atlantic Ocean all this time.... Turning into a pickpocket that uses dogs to con people?"

Leon rubbed his chin. "He really has no criminal record? Not even juvenile delinquency?"

"Leon, love..... This man was a saint. Even when he became an alcoholic he never harmed a fly."

"He lived a pretty depressing life in his latter years, got involved with loan sharks so that must be why he flied off to Canada."

Leon understood now. "Thanks. You've been a big help as always, Teddy."

"Anytime, love. Do tell me about how the wedding's going on! I'll be your best man, right---"

He hang up immediately.

Leon scribbled in his notepad.

[Suicide attacker? Working under loan sharks?]

It's a good way to explain why he was found all alone, bleeding out, and yet still shot an arrow towards Wolfe.

He wanted to die, he just got arranged to do it this way. Maybe to gain money that he can use to pay off his debts, maybe to give away to his remaining family members.

So this also gives the possibility.....

That the mastermind may have other suicide attackers working under them. Ready to become tablaeus representing fairytales.

He went to smoke outside of the Royal Alexandra Theatre, just observing from outside. Wolfe is safest inside the theater, with many witnesses.

The possible danger was always outside. An ambush waiting for him once he left those doors.

He suddenly saw a group of men parked their Jaguar in an intersection near the theater. Not in the parking lot, but somewhere dark and discreet.

When they went out, they seemed to be metalheads or in the same vein.

They had colorful mohawks, ripped leather jackets, bulging arms full of tattoos. Much of which had Satanic symbolisms, too many goats with pentagrams.

Leon had learned not to judge according to appearance, but the way they parked does raised his suspicions.

Eventually, the play was over, and he waited for how these metalheads would act.

The actors were inside to change, and have some victory party for a great performance here in Toronto. Their next stop was Buenos Aires.

He eventually bumped into a girl who was in a hurry.

"Sorry." She said, pushing up her sunglasses.

Leon realized that it was Taji's girlfriend, Cherith.

What is she doing going out of the theater so soon?

She had mixed very well into the crowd, unrecognizable as the actress playing the old grandmother character earlier.

Her lipstick was red, and her jet-black hair that was under a wig was pulled down. He floral dress costume had lost all the prothetics to make her appear fat, and her curves were now seen.

She did not notice Leon because of her hurry to cross the road among the sea of theater goers.

Leon saw her walk directly towards the Jaguar---

And kissed all the metalheads on the lips.

All four men. They laughed along with her, and eventually let her go inside the car like a princess.

"Wow." Leon pulled out his phone. "Poor Taji. So this is her business matters, huh."

It was dark when he took the picture, and the plate number can be barely seen. They were just silhouettes, but was incriminating enough.

He messaged Wolfe. [Primary suspect changed. Meet me ASAP. ]

Wolfe did not reply yet. Probably busy changing.

He patiently waited for about 10 minutes, but got tired of it and went inside. It's also very cold outside, 2 degrees Celsius, but at least it's not negative.

Leon brushed the snow off his shoulders as he got inside the fancy theater, and was immediately blocked by people.

"My boyfriend is an actor." He just said nonchalantly.

"You're not allowed backstage, sir." The guard said.

Leon then pulled out his Interpol ID. "Investigative reasons, then. Someone may die tonight."

They looked at each other in confusion by this sudden change of 'my boyfriend's in there' and then 'someone may die'.

Leon ran past them while they're confused.

"Hey! Sir! You're really not allowed there!"

He ran past staffs, going directly to the actor's changing rooms. "Which one is Wolfe Fang's?"

They pointed to a door decorated with a star, and he rushed inside without knocking.

"Wolfe Fang, I think I know now who's---"

The whole room was a mess. He can hear heavy breathing and the smell of sweat.

Wolfe was lying on the floor, half-naked...

With Heath on top of him, also half-naked.

Pinning him on the ground in such a questionable position.

Wolfe's eyes widened. "Wait, Leon, it's not what you think---"

SLAM!

Leon's hands moved faster than his brain, delivering a strong blow to Heath's face and sending him flying to the wall!
