Chapter 3: 2
"Result will come out soon. In a meanwhile, we should wait at my office," says Cygnus. Jein and Joon nod, and follow that little man to his office. The hospital is quiet and empty at this hour. Most of the specialist clinic has closed.
"Thanks for allowing us to use the facility," says Joon.
"Yeah, don't bother! Besides, where else you gonna bring that…" they walk along the aisle and enter the elevator upstairs.
"Er… Now I'm starting to think about what to call it. Specimen? Body?" they begin to wonder, was it a corpse or the other way around?
"If it's not a corpse; I mean we never saw it as a human, then what should we call 'em?" asks Joon. The tall, humongous man is using his brain to think hard.
"Zombie?" asks Cygnus.
"Zombie means a living corpse. A corpse means, a body of decease. Decease means a dead human. So, it still falls under the Homo sapiens category," jumble words by Joon makes thing even more confusing.
They arrive at Cygnus's office, on the first floor, near the receptionist. The glass door makes the room look wider and bright.
"We need to wait for the result to conclude this case. If it's a zombie, then we need to find the resources as soon as possible. It's a serious pandemic and contagious as well," says Cygnus.
He began to worry about the safety of the hospital. So, he alerts every personnel to be careful. He even asks the autopsy team to seal the morgue and allowed only two personnel inside.
"Did you try to reach Yoon and ask about this matter?" asks Cygnus.
"We can't reach him. Lately, he's kinda busy with Byul. She got a… Problem…" Jein glares at Joon. The man looks down, face full of worries when he mentions their name.
"Problem?"
"Yeah… Byul… She killed a man on a mission. Seems like her power evolved in a way that she didn't expect. She's too powerful to be able to kill a man miles away from her," Joon sighs.
Such an unfortunate event almost jeopardize his brother's career and jeopardized Black Knight's reputation. She was almost on the verge of a death sentence. Luckily, after some investigation, they release her with a guarantee from Yoon that she will follow some training with the expert hired by Black Knight personnel.
"Looks like she even surpassed her mom. Maybe because she's half-human, and she lives longer than her mom. Perhaps, she's in a phase of maturity in terms of controlling her power," says Cygnus. He once studied her case for medical purposes. That's when he knew the fact of Byul's body that unable to control her power unless she went through a sort of like intense training.
"Where's Sun?" Jein deliberates the topic, so Joon can stop worrying about his brother and sister-in-law.
"Ah… It seems like our biggie papa bear is too busy with his little girl. Don't get shocked if he decides on early retirement!" Cygnus smiles with joy. That man seriously got whipped by his cute little Fiona. He willingly stays at home rather than go to work.
"Nah, he can work at home! Like Jein…"
"Yeah, and living in boredom! At least Sun got Fiona!" Jein gives his husband a sharp, deathly glare. Joon sheepishly grins and scratches his head.
"Why, do you want baby, bae?"
"I'm tired of raising you, so nope! I'm done!" Cygnus laughs in little. As usual, this Austins couple never failed to entertain him. From the first time, he got to know them, until now. They got a great dynamic as a couple.
"Guys, don't make this single man feels lonely!" he is coaxing them with his cute voice.
"Don't worry. You will meet someone soon!" Joon generously prays for Cygnus.
"Don't be in a rush. Single is better." everyone chuckles at Jein's exclaimed words.
"Doctor…" a sudden visit from the hospital's staff shuts them immediately. Cygnus quickly grabs the chart. Both Jein and Joon change their expression. Now, the job has come, and it's not the time to goof around anymore.
"Oh my God…" Cygnus looks at them. He hands the chart and Jein quickly grabs it.
"Unbelievable." says the man.

"What happened to this human?" asks Jein. They were in the morgue after the DNA test came back. It's confirmed. The creature that lays down on the steel table is a human.
"No zombification trace in his blood. Nothing like it," Joon emphasizes what's the most important fact about the result.
Still, there's something mysterious about the creature. The feature is rather odd, far from those normal zombies. Almost inhuman at all. The skin looks dark instead of pale white. Eyes a little slated instead of dark panda eyes. The nose and lips protrude to the front.
"How did you know it was a man?" asks Jein. Joon points at the gender identification section that states 'XY'.
Cygnus puts away his scalpels and takes off his high-tech goggle. He shakes his head, leaving the table with a massive sigh.
"There are some traces of mutilation. It's not huge, but just enough for me to track down using that device," he points at the goggle. "…and it's not good," his face says enough about how bad it is.
"What do you mean?" Jein asks.
"I'm afraid this is a test subject for some kind of experiment. But, maybe it ends up failing," says Cygnus. Both Joon and Jein feel terrified.
"You mean-"
"Yes. This is a human experiment victim," all of them look at the body on the steel table. This is outrageous. Now, there are more questions rather than answers. They get the first piece, the cause behind the existence of this inhuman creature.
"What this mutilation trace looks like?" asks Joon.
"The slit is big enough to insert some kind of piercing, much bigger than normal size of a syringe; maybe 18G size of a needle," Cygnus brings them closer to the monitor. "However, based on the wound at the left upper hand, the object is not a syringe. More like a sharp nozzle," Jein moves even closer to the monitor. He fixes his glasses a bit.
"So, it got slit like a chicken before getting fried!"
"Possibly. Like, it got pierced all over the body. By force, based on the wound pattern," Cygnus shows them the other wound.
"I'm sorry, but this sounds like Wolverine," says Joon. All he can think now is the epic scene when Hugh Jackman jumped out from the water tank and attacked the military enforcement after he got injected with adamantium.
"Possibly. Hey…" Cygnus' eyes wander all over the monitor. "Look at this." he points his finger to the result board.
"Mismatch DNA mix?" Jein frowns.
"I'll ask my forensic team to strain the DNA, so we can identify the real DNA, and alienate one. From there, we can start looking at the resources. And maybe, inform the Black Knight for further investigation," says Cygnus.
All three of them are too busy looking at the monitor. They fail to hear hustles that come from behind. A pair of eyes are looking at them immediately. That yellow cornea enlarges, choosing its target among those three.
It slowly jumps down from the table, stabilizes the body, and moves forward. Legs move with crack sounds here and there. Moving closer and closer, towards unaware victims who still loose around.
And when they turn their back, everything seems a bit too late.
