Chapter 8: Chapter Seven

I guess I'll never understand Reno. No matter how hard I try, he is just so complicated.
After everything, just as we were about to meet Kat, what made him back out? Why didn't he think about all his problems before?
I need to control myself. In case I wolf out.
Tyler introduced me to Kat. She didn't seem bothered by any visitors. Not even me. All she did was bite her lower lips.
"Where did the handsome dud go?" Tyler looked behind me.
What a mess you've left me in, Reno.
"He got an urgent call from my dad. I asked him to go-"
"Are you really sure he ain't a celebrity? My dad could help him become one! We own a music industry."
Why was this kid so talkative? My eyes were only fixed on Kat. In the midst of all these conversations, she didn't even move. While her brother just kept blabbering every sort of nonsense.
It's just surprising how I managed to befriend Reno so easily. I never thought Nadarians were so friendly. All I pictured were some vicious scary creatures. Luckily, Reno wasn't. He didn't even hesitate to tell me all about himself.
"Kat, this guy right here saved your life-"
"It wasn't me Tyler." I pull on a fake smile. "It was my cousin."
"Oh right! I keep forgetting. It was the handsome dude that saved you, Kat!"
She didn't even show any expression on her brother's words. Tyler stopped smiling and turned to me.
"She's been like that since we got her to the hospital. The doctor said physically she is doing better but mentally, she is traumatized."
I feel really guilty now. This is all because of our carelessness. If we had locked the newbie, maybe no such incident would've happened.
"Blue lips...
Blue eyes ….." she whispered slowly. Tyler leaned his ears closer to her mouth.
"She is talking about some blue lips and blue eye-"
"Yes I can hear that, Tyler." He is indeed a total freak.
Blue eyes? Blue lips?
Is she talking about Reno? I guess she noticed his face.
"Tyler, go get water for your sister."
Tyler left just after my order. I sat next to Kat and tried talking.
"Kat, who are you talking-"
"He comes in my dreams. He saves me all the time…"
I could see the hairs on my arm rise up. She caught my hands and started breathing heavily.
"Kat, are you oka-"
"Reno. Is his name Reno?" She asked.
I got chills in my body. My head is all blank with no answer.
How does she know about him? I'm sure they didn't have time to introduce each other.
She saw him in her dreams? No. This can't be possible.
"Kat, calm down. You must've been mistaken."
"I see him in my dreams all the time. I know it was him. He had blue eyes and lips. It was him!"
"No it wasn't." Tyler walks in holding a bottle of water. He places it on the table nearby.
"You're wrong sister. He is no such dude. Infact, he was just sick and looked like that. He has no such eyes and lips."
Well I guess Tyler was not a complete idiot. But I'm starting to doubt him.
He did see Reno too. Why is he lying?
"Tyler, you saw him too! Didn't he have blue-"
"I told you, Kat. He did. But not anymore. He was just here to visit you and I saw his real look. Believe me, you'll faint seeing his looks."
Kat shook her head. She didn't want to believe anything we said.
"Wh- what is his name?" She asked.
Oh dear. What should I say?
Tyler took a deep breath.
"His name is Reno."
I turned to Tyler.
"Renold, actually. His name is Renold." How much more will I have to lie? This must be just the starting.
Tyler raised an eyebrow.
"He told me it was Ren-"
"We call him Reno in short."
This wasn't even helping. Reno has already exposed almost everything about him. Covering up wasn't helping either. Kat was not believing while Tyler gave me a suspicious look.
"Alright. I should get going. You need to rest, Kat." I leave the room along with Tyler following me. He stopped me and gave me my keys.
"You dropped them."
"Thanks. I almost los-"
"There is something you're hiding aren't you?" He sounded different. "His name, looks, everything matches the guy my sister sees in her dreams. Why is that?"
"Tyler, your sister was attacked by an animal. She must've lost her sense and maybe dreamt something and is assuming it as reality! You never know!"
He wasn't buying it.
"My sister has been telling me about her dreams and nightmares since she was little. She never had a friend so I was the only one who listened to her every story. And by the time I grew up, I feared that she kept seeing the same dreams every time. That's not normal. And you know it very well!"
I know. I know it more than you, you idiot. But there's nothing I can do.
"I'm sorry about your sister. But believe me, Renold is not who she claims him to be. He is just new in this town like you."
He didn't say anything. I hope he believes me.
"Fine. I'll believe you for now. But remember, if what my sister says comes true, I won't leave you alone for lying to me! You get that?"
I don't know if I was dreaming, but his eyes were glowing orange. All of a sudden.
"Tyler.....your eyes-"
He took a few steps back, panicking and looking down.
"I- I need to ge- get back to my sister." And just like that, he left.
What was that? Why did his eyes look familiar? I have seen this before, but can't remember where.
What have I got myself into!?
Reno is for sure hiding something really dangerous. His secret must be connected to Kat and maybe that's why he didn't want to face her.
Do they know each other? Are they lovers?
My head can't take this anymore. I have to ask Reno myself. I know he must be hesitating because it's been barely a day since we met. But I'm already getting involved in his business.
Crazy!
I walked out of the hospital and found Reno sitting inside my car. I got in.
"Ho- how is she?" He asked.
"Terrible. Infact, she was in a miserable state. And she also said something that made me curious to ask, do you know her from before, Reno?"
He rolled his eyes and shook his head.
"I told you, you don't need to know-"
"No, Reno. You can't keep hiding. I told you, you can trust me! And Kat recognized you!" He turned to me in shock. "She says that you appear in her dreams all the time. You save her even in her dreams!"
He was panting. Seeing the look on his face, I'm sure they did know each other. And something terrible must have happened.
"Thats- that's im- impossible!"
"Reno, she knew your looks! Seeing you in the forest made her aware that you are the man from her dreams. She even knew your name!"
Finally, a few tears dropped down his cheeks. He closed his eyes tightly, trying to hold himself from breaking down.
I felt sorry for him. Maybe his secret was a sorrowful one.
"Reno. You can tell me." I say, patting his shoulder.
He nodded slowly and turned to me.
"Fine. I will tell you all about it." He said. ''But make sure you don't faint after hearing it."
