Chapter 1: Chapter One: Desperation.
" Who are you?" Irene asked, her gaze locked on the guy standing before her. She felt frustrated when he ignored her and her questions. she felt her consciousness slowly slipping away and she knew she can't hold on for long.
"Who the fuck are you and what do you want with me?" she asked again, this time she made her voice louder. He had his focus on the three unconscious men and was ignoring her, if he don't want to let her go, he could at least give her the answers she needs.
Her shout broke him out of his review, he turned to look at her, but what welcomed him was the sight of her body falling limp on the ground.
Moments ago
Desperation, fear, and exhaustion engulfed her as she ran through the street late at night.
who knew life would turn out like this for her? the moment she escaped from that damn place called an orphanage three men were on her trail.
Rain drops fell on her and she knew escaping then was just her wishful thinking, as their footsteps could be heard behind her.
She stopped running, why does fate have to be so cruel to her? what wrong did she commit to having fate play with her life like this, like some kind of tool for amusement? she scoffed at her thought, when has life ever been fair to her. Taking some deep breaths she turned around, confusion etched on her face at what she saw.
Three men were on the ground badly hurt to even stand without anyone's assistance.
"When did this happen and most importantly how?". those were the unanswered questions running through her mind.
She noticed their gaze carried fear but not directed at her but someone else.
She followed their line of sight, and she couldn't move her gaze away from who she saw.
It's a guy in a black leather jacket, more precisely, the guy she bumped into while trying to escape the clutches of the men after her.
she was surprised to see him here because she didn't ask for help from him as she isn't the type to place trust in someone at least she knows he might join them or leave her, so what exactly is he doing here? was he the one that did that hurt them? the answer to the question was pretty obvious as the men looked at him with hate.
"who knew the most sought-after devil brother would have so much free time to grant us with his presence," the first man said, voice laced with sarcasm.
"spare us please, we didn't know she belongs to you" the second man begged, he was more hurt than the first man.
"Why are you begging him? we did nothing wrong, you leave a beauty wandering alone at night what did you expect? " the first man said only to earn a glare from the second man. "shut up ".
The guy in black leather jacket looked at them like there were some boring chess pieces that he shouldn't waste his time on.
Irene looked at them confused, what the heck are they talking about, and who belongs to who?.
she felt some thick liquid flow down her neck, no doubt it was her blood. She earned some injuries while trying to escape. She felt slightly dizzy and she struggled not to lose consciousness.
One of the men brought out a gun and aimed at the guy in a black leather jacket.
"I'll end your reign, and take back my position with your head as an exchange," the third man said, there was madness in his eyes.
The thought of the men having a gun on them didn't seat well with Irene as she wondered what would have happened to her if he had used it on her.
"Bang" the gun sounded defying to her ears and she widen her eyes, realizing that the man fired a bullet at the guy in a black leather jacket.
The guy avoided the bullet easily and brought out a pistol.
He released a bullet at the man who shot him. The bullet went through the man's forehead, giving the man a short death.
Irene watched the whole scene unfold, the sound of gun added more to her headache, there's no way she's losing consciousness in front of a strange, who killed someone without a second thought.
She took a step backward, the guy seemed occupied with the men before him and was paying less attention to her.
she took more steps but was stopped.
"It would be beneficial to you if you don't take any more steps". The guy said, his attention still not on her.
The guy shot the rest men in their shoulders, watching them lose consciousness due to much blood loss.
She looked at the guy who wasn't paying attention to her.
"Who are you?".
Back to the present.
"shit!" the guy cursed as he made his way to her unconscious body. looking down at her he made a phone call.
"I need some mess cleared up, and scorpion men are in the city" saying that he ended the call.
"He would kill me if he finds out," he said looking at the unconscious girl before picking her up and heading for a hospital.

Hospital
In a VIP ward, a pair of eyes were on an unconscious girl, watching what the nurses were administering to her.
The nurses felt uncomfortable with the unwanted attention on them, they tried asking him to leave the room but he ignored them, and they can't offend him cause he's a VIP, the higher-ups would have their heads if that happens.
The room was in awkward silence and only the sound of raindrops could be heard.
The nurse was done and was about to leave the room.
"I want to see the managing director," the guy in a black leather jacket said, breaking the silence.
"He's on the top floor" One of the nurses informed him.
"Take me there," the guy said and followed the nurse.
