Chapter 5: FIVE: GROUP CHAT

Matilda had to take Reese to church so the priest could pray for her. The priest warned her not to read those kinds of books because they might have been the cause of those dreams.

For a while Reese felt a part of her die, how could she part ways with fantasy novels?

They were on a long break from school and Reese spent her holidays reading all the books she missed, books made her holiday brighter...and now the priest told her to let go of fantasy novels....WHAT!

When her father heard what happened he was greatly displeased, dreams weren't something to be taken lightly and her father took dreams seriously.

"Enough reading Reese, do something different...try chatting with your friends or playing games with Ethelbert...go out more often Reese."

Her father sternly advised her and here she was in her room trying to chat with friends. Reese didn't bother telling Scarlett about her dreams because she knew exactly what Scarlett would say; 'I TOLD YOU!'

This was so frustrating, she disliked chatting with friends, it was damn boring.

While scrolling through alot of messages she came across a strange group chat she was added to.

"What the!"

The group chat's name was 'OBSCURITY', how strange. Out of boredom she opened it and there were alot of messages, she began to read from anywhere because she couldn't start from beginning and so she read;

Null: Accomplished

Obscure: A successful target (Obscure replied to Null).

Vamp: Missed target (angry emoji).

Dark: Lousy fool (Dark replied to Vamp).

Obscure: Hard luck Vamp.

Lostsoul: A hundred requested!

Null: Accept none

Drack: Accept all!!!

Null: A pity (bored emoji).

Dark: Agreed...

Reese had a confused expression.... What were they even talking about? So confusing. The names they used were even more strange...who the f*ck even added her to this rubbish!

Reese tapped to see who was online and found all of them offline, she tapped on each of the names to check out their profile but couldn't, it was like they locked it, she could only message them. Coming back to the group chat Reese typed in a message.

**Reese Manoah: who added me?!

When she finished typing she sent the message and waited for a while to see if any of them would come online, but none did....the more she read their conversations the more she became interested in chatting with them. She was eager.

The more she waited the more she became tired and bored....not even one came online.

She had to go downstairs and play a game with Ethelbert. From one game it went to five, she loved it, most times Ethel won her and she got angry and determined to play more...they played until late in the evening.

"Can't you see this is more better than burying your head in weird books." Ethelbert said and she frowned.

"They aren't weird." Ethelbert was just sixteen years old and she eighteen but they acted like twins.

"Okay fine, whatever you say Reese." After a long silence Reese finally spoke.

"Ehthel?"

"Yes sis."

"I came across this group chat and....wait let me show you." Reese took her phone from the center table and unlocked it. Ethelbert grew interested so he inched closer to her in the sofa.

"Here it is." She showed him...he took the phone from her and slowly read their conversations. He chuckled when something got his attention.

"Null is a bad ass, his response to every message is cool." Reese stared at him in bewilderment, she wondered how he was able to understand them.

"You understand them?"

"You don't?" Ethelbert looked at her in shock as if she made a very horrible statement.

"Wow! This is surprising...anyways they are communicating like vampires, using codes and few words...for example look at their names, strange and weird right? You can't even have access to their profile, they want to look weird...to top it all they'll come online at night.."

"Serious?"

"Yes...how come you don't know about this Reese?" Reese felt ashamed, she thought she was a bad ass when it came to everything about vampires and their secrets but here was Ethelbert...the legend of vampire movies.

"Wait a minute! They added you to their group chat? Are you seriously kidding me?" Ethelbert stared at her phone in shock. When he scrolled all the way down he burst into serious laughter.

"WHAT?" Reese looked confused.

"Delete this message immediately Reese....you supposed to be glad you're added to this group rather than ask such stupid questions."

"Hold on Ethel..please take it slow...how do you know so much about them?"

"Actually, this group is so strange compared to the others I know of, there's this popular one called 'DARKNESS', there are more than hundred and its a dope site...but this is way cooler, how did you even get in Reese?"

Good question...thought Reese to herself. How did she even get in?

"Maybe I mistakenly tapped something I wasn't meant to?...."

"Wait...what if they saw your post on one of those high ranked pages were you said; I CAME ACROSS A VAMPYRE AND IT SUCKED MY BLOOD..."

Reese gasped, she nearly forgot about that. She got more than a thousand likes on that post, comments flooded in asking her how she was able to survive and so on but never replied any.

"I'm so doomed."

"Oh yes you are Reese....leave this group chat now!" Ethelbert had a worried and frightened look, this group was mysterious and strange. He didn't want any bad thing happening to his dear sister.

Reese took her phone from Ethelbert when she recalled the nightmare she had...she quickly went to settings and left the group.

"Phew! That was close." Ethelbert sighed in relief she successfully left the group.

"Thanks Ethel, if you hadn't told me about this I wouldn't have known..."

"If you hadn't told me you would've been doomed Reese...don't try that again, for the first time am scared for you."

Reese chuckled and slapped her brother's upper arm. He really looked damn scared while staring at Reese. She slowly leaned close to him and he leaned closer too.

"Don't tell mom about this okay?" She whispered into his ears and he nodded with a one sided smile.

"I cross my heart Reese." Ethelbert made the sign of the cross and Reese smiled in satisfaction.

"Reese?"

"Yes?"

"Where you the one who screamed last night?" He frowned and looked at her seriously, she nodded with a smirk.

"I thought as much...you sounded like a strangled hen."
