Chapter 79: [Side Story] Charms and Spells
"Time for your evaluation." Kento said, standing out on the field with the rest of the class.
"Our... What?" They all asked him, not understanding what he meant by evaulation.
Their young teacher explained to them that their class was selected in a way that the students in the class were known to not be capable of gaining up to ten Spells on their Charms. What he wanted to do was know how many Spells they had and what they were for certain reasons.
"Craft Casting: Range of Items!" Kento formed numerous items such as target pads, people-sized dolls and bars and a variety of other things for different types of Spells.
"Who wants to go first?" "I'll give it a try." Raine raised her hand and Kento gave her the signal to start. One of the seemingly normal gloves on her hand morphed to reveal a silver glove with a droplet design and bubble designs around it, numbering ten. Those were her Gems and only four of them were active at the moment.
Raine faced one of the dolls and moved her hand in a slashing position. "Water Casting: Water Slash!" A powerful wave of water left her hand and when it made contact with the doll, it was sliced in half and the doll was a metal one.
"Whoa!" Her class shouted in awe. Kento smiled as he took down a note.
Raine then moved over to a few of the target pads but then noticed something. "Uh, excuse me. These ones are a little too small for my next Spell. Could you make them bigger?" She requested.
"Certainly." Kento replied and the target pads were reconstructed but much bigger this time.
"Thank you!" Raine focused as she put her two hands together and a single powerful beam of water was shot out from her hand, going through and completely destroyed not one but four of the targets by manipulating the attack while she had already released it.
"Good control and potency." Kento scribbled down, unsurprised by her skill.
"I never knew Raine was that good!" "Me neither." The class spoke among themselves. There was this unspoken rule or statement in their class that the strongest among them were Arina, Yuri, Ayato and Kasami but they had no idea about how strong Raine had gotten.
"Uh, for my next attack. Could you make more dolls and make them move incredibly fast?" "Anything you ask." Kento made more dolls and added Valuable Items to them so they could move at superhuman speed.
"Water Casting: Aqua Barrage!" Raine formed numerous water attacks in the air in front of her. She waited for the perfect timing as she watched the dolls.
"Ha!" She released all the attacks and controlling them like seperate limbs, she hit all but two of the dolls with her attack.
"Go girl!" Kasami cheered her from the side and Raine turned around to see the rest of her class cheering her own and it made her blush from embarrassment.
She turned back to the Test. "I want you to make the dolls attack me!" Raine requested and it was done. Ten dolls were now surrounding her.
"Water Casting:.. Huh?" Raine couldn't finish chanting the Spell as two of the dolls tried to punch her but she flipped into the air and hit them with water balls.
While in the air, three dolls tried to attack her but by now she had already finished the Spell. "Splash Hands!" Her hands were now covered in swirling water that she formed into a fist and punched the dolls in front of her, blasting them to the ground.
Raine landed back on the ground and two of the dolls were charging a magic attack, courtesy of the Valuable Item installed in them. Seeing the attack, Raine didn't look scared, instead she toughened up her face and the Splash Hands increased in size and started to change shape, resembling a shield.
The magic attack was blasted out and hit Raine straight on but, the attack hadn't gone through her Splash Hands. The Hands stretched out towards the dolls and grabbed them. Turning her hands and torso, Raine used the dolls to hit the other ones that were trying to attack her. With that, Raine had destroyed all of them.
"That's it. I have only four Spells and I'm sure I can't unlock any more. As for my Level..." Raine flashed her Power Watch.

"Whoo!" Ayato shouted and the rest of the class applauded. Raine bowed as if she had finished a performance and rushed back to the crowd.
'Impressive. She's only capable of four Spells but she's mastered them well enough and she can still get to a higher level. I knew it was a good idea to keep teaching them in their Second Year. This set is something else.' Kento thought.
Next up was Vanessa who showed how powerful her magic was which was based on luck.
The dolls shot attacks at her but all of them missed, some entirely and some just by a hair's breadth. It went on for a while but her Spell known as Clovered Field wasn't all powerful as she was about to get hit by an attack but she noticed and quickly acted.
"Luck Casting: Jinx of the Black Cat!" When she touched the attack with her hand, it rotated and hit the doll back, knocking it to the ground.
"Can I have a bow and some arrows?" She asked and it was given to her. She wasn't skilled at archery in any way but it would look like she was with the help of her next Spell.
"Luck Casting: Conveniency!" She shot three arrows at the same time and all of them hit the target pads she had aimed for.
"That's all the Spells I have for now and I'm at Stage 6 as well." She told Kento.
Twenty dolls were chasing Yuri, all trying to hit him with magic attacks but with the help of Shadow Path, he was able to move and dodge all of them.
Yuri abruptly stopped the Spell and turned around then said. "Shadow Casting: Black Gloves!"
Yuri released the attack towards all the dolls and successfully grabbed all of them. They tried to break out and Yuri felt it as well so he added more tentacles until he destroyed all of them.
Kento smirked from the sidelines.
A doll jumped up behind Yuri silently and aimed to punch him. The doll moved fast and silently. The doll punched Yuri but the attack never made contact. Instead, the fist went through him like he wasn't even there.
"Shadow Casting: Black Spear!" Yuri shot the attack and it pierced through the doll, destroying it.
'He's good. He doesn't drop his guard or acts too arrogant anymore. He's really improving.' Kento thought.
Dolls ran towards Luz at the same time but she created her Color Sphere and none of the attacks pierced through.
The dolls then began to charge a combined attack and this would definitely destroy the Color Sphere, Luz thought.
Luz stretched her hand out a second before the attack had been shot out and the Color Sphere had prevailed against the attack.
"Yes! Pure Magic Rules!" Luz then dissipated her
Color Sphere for a short second and hit the dolls all at almost the same time with a large rainbow arc.
Arina had won against the dolls exceptionally well withthe help of her Halo Fists, exhibiting great skill and flexibility which she didn't think that highly of herself. But in terms of physical skill, she excelled.
With the Ray Blast she was able to destroy all the target pads in one go.
'Her magic is a bit on the brutish side but her physical capabilities surpass the others. And with the highest number of Spells so far, six.' Kento was feeling proud of his students and their development and slightly a bit prouder of himself for recognizing their potential before they had gotten this far.
The others had all gotten their turn and they did as well as the others and that's how the day ended.
It was so much fun that they decided to fight amongst themselves in teams.
