Chapter 31: Who Has To Be The Next King?
Elgin was sitting on the floor, looking at the hurriedly moving line of ants. The ants were carrying the remains of a dead cockroach, which was killed by Elgin last night. Elgin sighed and closed his eyes to sleep, when he heard footsteps approaching him. Elgin looked at the direction and saw that Maester Taylor approaching him and stopped near the door of the cell. He looked at him and gave a smile, "Young blood always creates problems for the old people. I told you that you and your friends should not mess with the royalty. But, you and Aliyah are notorious for not following advices of the elders." Elgin said, "There is no point discussing useless things, Maester Taylor. The war has sparkled and soon it will turn into a huge wildfire that will burn down all the prestige and safety of the kingdom." Maester Taylor said, "Your imprisonment is not going to extinguish the fire you are mentioning." Elgin said, "Then, get me out." Maester Taylor said, "Why not? And risk both mine and my family's lives. Look, Elgin. No one is liking the presence of that ruffian Krymon in the palace and the members of the Royal Council has started discussing plans to dispose both Krymon and Tammy from the kingdom. I don't know but, I think they are secretly indicating your name for the king's position."
Elgin asked shocked, "Why would they do that? They barely know me and also I cannot stay here. My life is now in the mortal's world and I have someone in my heart." Maester Taylor asked, "You love a mortal?" Elgin said confidently, "And there is no shame in that." Maester Taylor said, "Shame isn't the right word. It's impossibility. Why would a mortal girl love an elf who is almost centuries older than her? Your love may be pure, but it's worthless. I am seeing the history repeating. Your brother also felled in love with a mortal too. Things didn't went well and soon one day I see him sobbing quietly in his bed and bloody dagger by his side." Elgin said, "People change, Maester Taylor. Today's mortal world is way apart from the time of my brother." Maester Taylor smiled, "People don't change, they develop. And, I don't think loving an elf was ever a part of their development." Elgin said, "Leave that matter, Maester Taylor. I will never become the king. My brother never became one nor will I." Maester Taylor said quietly, "That's the biggest secret we all have been hiding from you all these years." Elgin asked puzzled, "What secret?" Maester Taylor said, "Many years ago, when King Alapaca saw his demise coming near, he called your father and said him to find a perfect and able successor of him.
Your father never trusted Tammy and Jammy for they were treacherous and greedy in nature, but there no one else who could become the king. King Alapaca's only son was a lousy and drunk gambler who never touched one scroll of the Ancient Library nor did ever attended a meeting or tour of the kingdom. Aliyah's cousins were good but the war snatched their lives from their bodies and in the end it was Tammy or Jammy. But, soon a third person came into the scene. The son of Grand Viceroy, Robert de Silvuscus. He was both able and kind hearted person and was the perfect man to be King Alapaca's successor. But, their also appeared a new problem. Robert wanted to marry Aliyah's elder sister, Camilla who was pregnant with Frostbite's child at that time.
Robert agreed to marry her and accept the child as his own, but Frostbite never agreed. He told everyone that Camilla is only his and only he can love, fuck and impregnate her and not some blonde ass horsefucker. Eventually, Robert challenged him to a duel and said that the winner will decide Camilla's fate. Frostbite easily froze him to death and soon kidnapped Camilla and disappeared. Robert's death turned the tables and again it was Tammy or Jammy."
Elgin asked, "Then, what happened?" Maester Taylor said slowly, "Well, your father decided to give it some time and discussed the matter with King Alacapa. But, King Alacapa didn't liked the delay and commanded that in three months, a successor should be selected or else he will banish your father from the position of the minister of the kingdom and appoint Maester Cyrus as the new minister. Your father had no choice but to choose between Jammy and Tammy and he chosed Jammy because he was a little physically stronger than Tammy and also served as a soldier in the army and has earned many bravery medals from the king. He discussed the matter with Tammy's father and he agreed immediately and gifted three beautiful stallions to your father.
Tammy overheard the discussion and told the plan to Jammy. Jammy liked privileges and power, but he never liked responsibilities and royal affairs and rejected the proposition. Tammy discussed the matter with his father and when his father couldn't make Jammy agree by any means, he decided to make Tammy the successor of the king, but a mishap happened at that time which changed the matter drastically. King Alacapa was attacked by some secret demon assassins sent by Xao Chang and your brother and father fought valiantly and saved Alacapa's life. Unfortunately, your father was severely injured and was on his deathbed. King Alacapa asked for his last wish and he shockingly asked for your brother to be the successor and not Jammy or Tammy. King Alacapa would never disrepect a dying man's wish and he decreeded a royal funeral for your father and announced your brother, Sir Elys Vesarlis as the successor of the Crown.
Tammy was very furious that day and plotted to murder your brother that night. He sent elite Shuken assassins in the gathering party to kill him. But, fortunately that night your brother secretly sneaked out to the mortal world to share the happy news with his lover. The war was near and soon the day came when all were gathered in front of the castle, singing battle rhymes and chanting their battle songs. Maidens were busy polishing armors and wishing luck to their husbands, mothers blowing holy words on their sons's faces and retired fathers laughing and telling their days of battles and valor. All were happy and confident, except your brother who was depressed and a little afraid. He cried that last night and his eyes were still red with misery and disappointment. His dagger still bloody and dark. The battle came and went. We lost our soldiers, our king, our queen, our beloved princess, Aliyah and we lost the successor of the king. Your brother had many scars on his body, but the most deeper ones were on his mind. His death was silent, but his every last breath was chaotic.
Xao Chang went in mediation and the demons left our kingdom, leaving behind a ruined and poor kingdom. I was there that day, I washed your brother's body before he was cremated and to be true, the blade that killed him that day was not of some demon or orge, but the blade of his own sword. It was either a suicide or a betrayal. But, whatever it was, it changed the course of the history of the Elves Kingdom forever. Tammy became the king and slowly he brought prestige to the kingdom and made it even more powerful and wealthy than ever, but on the cost of mutinies, genocide and alliances with enemies. The postions were taken by the people of same kin and they exploited their power without any restriction or conscience. Who agreed, lived and the ones who disagreed, got lost in the tornado of tyranny and injustice." A tear dropped from Maester Taylor's eyes and he sighed sadly.
Elgin said, "I know what you want to say, but many occurs at many time. I cannot avenge everything and again, my fight against Tammy and Jammy is now much bigger than personal enemity. It is a matter of the lives of the elves and the their independence. It is a matter of good versus evil and I have to fight not for me or my kin, but more the safe future of all the people living and breathing in the universe at the present moment." Maester Taylor said, "I knew you would say it. I have never betted on the wrong person ever." "Nor did I." A voice came from behind and an arrow pierced Maester Taylor's neck and he fell on the ground, coughing and grasping for air and slowly died. Elgin looked and saw Krymon walking towards him with a crossbow in his hand. He came near him and shot an arrow in Elgin's leg and smiled, "So, Mr. Elsinore Vesarlis. We have finally met. I can't lie but your tales are quite crispy to ignore. A loyal man, a loyal friend and a loyal lover. Your whole life roams around the word loyalty and maybe end with the word too."
He pointed his crossbow towards Elgin and said, "Dying in such a stinky and sad place. Such a sad ending to the life of the kingdom's most promising magician." He giggled. Elgin said angrily, "Kill me in this cell, when I'm locked and vulnerable to any attacks. This low and cheap antics has always been the nature of the ogres and prove it that you are no different from your lousy ancestors." Krymon shot an arrow in his left thigh and said, "You want to see how much we ogres have developed in these years? Okay, if that is your last wish then, I promise that before you close your eyes for eternity, I will show you the real power and capabilities of the ogres." He turned and walked away. He stopped and turned and said, "Since you shown so much valor in the face of death, I will do you a tiny favor. I will kill you personally with the same sword that I stabbed in your brother's back, centuries ago."
He smiled and walked away. Elgin fell on the ground screaming with pain as the arrows were poisonous and the poison was slowly rotting his flesh and nerves. He looked at Maester Taylor's dead body and vomited. Maester Taylor's neck started rotting and his eyes started melting and his face slowly melted and his facial bones started to appear. He looked at his thigh and slowly his senses started to fade.
Elgin slowly opened his eyes and looked around dizzy and saw a green figure tying bandage around his leg. He asked slowly, "Who are you?" The green guy said, "I'm the one who saved you from dying in that cold and stinky cell and resuscitated you from death." Elgin asked, "Where am I?" The green guy said, "A place where Tammy and Krymon cannot find you." Elgin said angrily, "Tell me straight. Who the fuck are you and why are you green?" The green guy said angrily, "Don't ask unnecessary questions. My identity is better unknown and there is no need for you to know it. I'm green because I am an ogre." Elgin smiled, "An ogre? I am not actually quite surprised. I have seen many ogres being well read and helpful to people, but a snake cannot be trusted with his fangs."
The green guy smiled, "Our fangs were taken long ago by King Jalacapa and hidden in some safe place." Elgin said grimly, "It's all a myth. King Jalacapa never took any stone. The stone was donated to Xao Chang years ago by your war hero, Gigantus who secretly sold all the orc magic to Xao Chang in return of immortality. But, Xao Chang tricked him and he never became immortal. Gigantus's own greed halted the Orc Valley's progress and his great great grandson, Krymon is doing the same. Pulling the orcs in a senseless war for his own selfish interests." The green guy said grimly, "I wish every orc could see that." Elgin smiled, "Your dislike of him won't bother him nor stop him."
The green guy said angrily, "That's why I have kidnapped Krymon's kids. Krymon will surely come for his kids and then we can kill him." Elgin looked at him and said, "I wished I could help you, but my leg is..." He looked at his leg and asked, "How did my leg got fine?" The green guy smiled, "Not a big deal. I have been treating this small poison from my early days of medical studies." Elgin smiled, "Thanks. But, what do you mean by that you have Krymon's kids?" The green guy pulled a curtain and Elgin saw Sophia lying on the bed with her legs raised above with slings. The green guy said, "Insert your hand and see for yourself." Elgin asked, "Don't you have ultrasound?" The green guy said angrily, "When you elves start producing electricity, I will buy an ultrasound machine."
Elgin inserted his hand in Sophia's vagina and felt the heads of the babies. Elgin said shocked, "What the fuck! The kids have horns and scaly skin. But, how can this happen? Orcs have dicks three times larger than elves." The green guy said grimly, "You had forgotten that Krymon has the power of shape-shifting? He has won many wars with this ability of his." Elgin said grimly, "This is what happens when you start to mingle with lousy people like Krymon." The green guy said, "If these kids comes out, Krymon will surely know about them, when these little monsters cry and suck all the milk out of Sophia's body. We have to finish both Krymon and his kids before Sophia goes into labor." Elgin said, "I have a better plan which can avoid too much unnecessary bloodshed and kill the right people." The green guy asked, "What is the plan?" Elgin said, "For that, we have to enter the Old City of Gold." The green guy asked, "The capital city of the Shukens?" Elgin smiled, "Exactly."....
